Yeah, agree with scott on the header point.
Messi may have scored that header but heading is still not a strength of his and i doubt it ever will be.<)

I agree ^

Messi is a far better natural finisher than Ronaldo. I also watched him tonite he was truely phenomonal.

Ronaldo's shots are more of a hit and hope style. You rarely see Ronaldo score a goal with a cool, well placed finish.

Messi actually knows where he wants to put it and usually executes his shots to perfection.

As for dribbling, i would say Messi is the more natural out of the two but i think Ronaldo's dribbling is more effective (combining pace with trickery).

You can't really compare their heading ability when you've got Ronaldo who's 6ft + and Messi who is 5ft 4? (estimate)

Obviously Ronaldo would be better in the air but you've seen before that Messi can head the ball effectively, ask any United fan.

What gives you the idea that if you are 6 ft plus you are going to be better than a player who is 5 ft 4 ect ? :S

Don't really agree with your comments about ronaldo's finishing, you don't score 42 goals in a season by hitting and hoping.

Not really sure who is better anymore, the're both in tremendous form.

I was thinking that haha cant see a player scoring over 40 like you mentioned and not aiming more hit and hope for the best

The reason i said Ronaldo's shooting was more of a hit & hope style was because he tends to opt for power rather than finesse. The problem with power is that you can never be sure of where the ball will end up; Especially with the technique he uses with the dip and swerve he generates.

I to think it's hard to say who is the better out of the two.
Both are probably on par with eachother, and Rooney just behind.

Well obviously if you are taller then you going to have an advantage in the air over someone who is smaller.

For instance, if you have two players with no experience of heading before, one 6ft + and the other in the 5ft 4-7 region, who is going to be more effective in the air in a match situation?

You can argue that players like Tim Cahill, Rooney etc are brilliant in the air but im talking about in general, taller people are more likely to have an advantage in the air over smaller people.

Ronaldo's dribbling is more effective?

Messi constantly goes past 3 and 4 players at a time. :S

Yeah, thats fair enough. I just think it's a difference in styles, where messi opts for placement, ronaldo goes for power. I don't think messi is a better finisher because he tries to place the ball.

It's like on fm, you can have two players with 20 finishing but one with shoots with power as a preferred move and one with places ball.<) They are both just as good as each other at finishing.

Don't take it as a statement or fact, it's just my opinion. :P

I think Ronaldo's dribbling is harder to defend against. To add tricks to the rate at which he runs at defenders is only going to leave them a confused wreck on the floor.

Just to make clear, i think Messi is a better natural dribbler, but Ronaldo's is more effective.

I watched Messi tonight vs Valencia, and I also watched Ronaldo vs Vallodolid (I think it was them, or Villareal), Messi scored a hat trick whereas Ronaldo scored one goal but played quite well although Higuian stole the show with a hat trick.

I haven't watched either of them for a long time, but looking at the way the two of them run with the ball at defences, and the sort of passes they make, Messi is better than Ronaldo in my opinion, his first goal was absolutely amazing.

Hmm Ronaldo or Messi....Rooney!!(6)

Rooney isn't in the same league as those two to be honest. Despite Rooney being a United player I still love the guy he is an absolutely excellent striker and always fun to watch.

I would honestly say Messi is better than Ronaldo, but they are very close, and are worlds ahead of the next best players i.e Rooney, Kaka, Ribery etc. They are the world class of world class.

I saw Messi play last night for the first time in ages. He was brilliant. I think he is better than Ronaldo in most areas, although I recon Ronaldo's skill and FK's are better than Messi

Last year Ronaldo

this season Messi by an absolute mile!!!

i think the question this year is Messi or Rooney!

Messi everytime. He has the ability to play magnificent passes and score stunning goals. Anyone who says ronaldo is better clearly knows nothing. Messi has the ability to pplay in the centre or on the left. Also, people say ronaldo scores more goals than messi. Not true, Messi has scored 5 in 2 games atm. Last season he scored over 30 goals and created loads more.
Any1 see his beauty v Stuttgart last night?

agree totally. messi is the king at creating things out of nothing. like you were saying his goal against stuttgart is messi all over and also proves he can hit them aswel as place them

Ronaldo's neck freaks me out abit, its literally thicker than his head, that point aside though I just prefer watching Messi attack a defence, he doesn't seem to do known "tricks" like Ronaldo seems to just drifts past defenders, actually amazing to watch. Watching him on ITV on Wednesday was the first time I was actually amazed by a player's all round performance and makes me want Sky Sports all the more.

Rooney is in a different league to them. Messi is having a Great season but then again ronaldo is scoring in almost every game

Ronaldo is a better forward and winger. Messi is a better playmaker and attacking midfielder.

la liga is so unbalanced & not so competitive, look at the gap between r.madrid and the next challenger. messi is great but i just want to see him in a tougher league (serie a/premier league) & if he excels there then i'll worship him. lol. 'cause right now i think he is amazing but i prefer ronaldo for the completeness of his game
