not sure i agree with this, we try to encourage all rounders, and our youth are quite technically gifted.
But one area we get punished, is the rule that that limits U-16s to 90 minutes of training. doesnt exist in spain or other the countries on the continent
Naturally, a club as big as United will attract some of the best yougsters in the country, but in recent years, it hasn't really happened. You only have to look at the ball retention qualities of both Barca and Arsenal compared to the current United team to see the difference. We play a more dynamic, terratorial dominating game but are forced to play counter attacking against these teams because we struggle to keep hold of the ball like they do. Players such as Scholes and Giggs are technically good footballers, just not a patch on the very best that Spain has to offer
