Im sure you all know Rory Delap the throw-in specialist whose long-throws are known to have been a thorn in the side of top-class sides such as Arsenal in recent years.

However,I just read an interesting article on zonalmarking.net and here is how much Rory Delaps Game revolves around long throws and only long throws.

You can see here that in the game against Wolves,Rory Delap a central midfielder only attempted 16 passes while he took 27 throw-ins during the game.

Sure such a player is useful to have as he is able to provide goals and generally exploit sides such as Arsenal who are vulnerable to long-throws but is he a footballer.

Your thoughts

If he didn't have a long throw, he wouldn't be playing for them tbh.

he's not good enouth for the premiership

Completely agree with you on this one mate

You really are a bit dim, aren't you?

Fair enough, Delap may be better at throw ins than he is at football and his throw ins provide a goal threat, but his lack of technical quality balances that out.

Personally i think he adds a lot to the stoke team, he may not be a great technical footballer, but he works very hard and is a good passer.

In fairness he was much better when he was younger as he is now 32 or something

Was a beast when he was at Derby :p shame we didn't know he could chuck a ball that far though :p

He's an average player with an unbelievable talent for throw ins.

Every player has there own talents they bring to a game, Delaps is the long throw:)

and if he was that bad of a footballer stoke wouldn't still be in the premiership:p

Not a premiership player but you gotta admit sometimes that someone on your team has the same talent as him (6) How many important goals did his long throws create for Stoke? quite alot i guess.

Imo he's an ok player aswell, deffinately worthy of his starts at Stoke. I think people just dislike the long throws and regard it as cheating and therefore are overly critical of him, I'm not saying he's brilliant but deffinately lower Premiership standard.

He's a decent player IMO, but his long throws are what is really keeping him there, he'd of left if he didn't 'ave it
