Sup guys, just wondering what peoples views were on rotation systems and how many people you like to have in your squad?

Ive always liked to have 2 players for each position with 1 person in each position a youngster.

Im in my second season as Arsenal and im struggling to give everybody enough game time without disturbing my form.

My team consists of;

gk

szczesny
reina

cb

koscielny
mertersacker
balanta
chambers
stones
umtiti

dm

khedira
romero

cm

wilshere
bArbosa

rm

oxlade
will hughes

lm

sterling
cazorla

st

ozil
welbeck
depay
sAnchez
giroud
zivcovic

all of these players are debatably worthy of playing every week for my team.

The biggest trouble im now finding is ALL of these players are beginning to demand 100k + wages!!

i would normally just say no and sell them and replace them with a regen. But with the regen dates being random now it makes it difficult to find them before they sign a contract with their clubs.

thoughts and advise would be appreciated :)

I'm the same as you mate. Got a large team of players in their early 20s now, after buying them in year 1. Now I'm in 2018 and everyone plays well!

Get a few players at a time wanting to play, I say yeah I agree you have not played enough and then the play outstanding!

I just keep rotating, I quite like playing that way. And as I keep winnig (most of the cups and have won the Prem every year) I don't mind paying the wages that they inevitably want lol

I like to have a pretty big squad as well

The trick is for each game, i start an entirely different XI

For huge game, i start my strongest XI

For Smaller game, i Start a weaker XI...

I just constantly rotate game after game...

You will still get injuries and it makes it easier..(Unless its and injury to a key player)

Yeah same here. I signed near enough a whole team of young wonderkids with payments spread over 4 years.

Over the next few years my projection falls each year. But way i see it is, ive basically got my main 1st team sorted for at least 4-6 years.

Ive already won the prem, fa cup and champs lg in 1st season.
This season ive won champ shield, super cup, club world cup, and on course for league, carling cup and champs league again!

I guess i do have the budget for funding a team of 22 players on 100k a week. Just seems ridiculous.

I enjoy rotating too :). But im weird, like, at the end of the season i like to see players who have played 50 games and scored 40 goals etc. I hate seeing a team full of 20 games here and 20 games there?

Setting teams up for particular matches sounds like a good idea!!

I always save a 1st and 2nd team as a base before i start my matches.

Hate the fact the regen dates are random every year now though. Although alot of people were taking advantage of that in previous fm's. At the same time, you could only take advantage of that if you spent alot of time searching for them.

Missing out signing the regens pre contract means you have to shell out like 50m by time you find them. Im not up for that haha.

Yeah...i kind of hated that random regen dates thing...

In my previous fm saves, i would set a reminder for regen import for different nations

I'd just scout all of em that same day and steal some hot prospects from clubs

Yeah exactly, that was the trick!

Wondering if come the start of each season it would be worth saving your game under a different name and holidaying the season to get the regen dates?

Suppose some people would frown upon it as cheating a little? But everyone does it, holiday a single save to see how all the youngsters do, to know who to buy.

Loving this new football manager. It feels like the in game shouts are awesome. I often use "passionate - demand more" and i score another goal or two. Not sure if its just coincidence. But il take it as awesome man management for now hahaha :)

That's not a bad idea...

I could create a different save...get fired in that save..on purpose...

Let the game run...get the regen dates for each nation...

Go back to your original save...

The new fm interaction is much more realistic...

Whenever i tell my team to "get creative"...We create much more chances and score...

getting sacked would make it run quicker correct?

Ive just got my dates, HOPING they will be the same in my actual save!

Set up reminders for regen days for ;
like 20 nations lol

made some filters aswell to find the decent players who arent worth much but have good attributes!

That squad is too big for my personal taste. I like a smaller squad made up of versatile players, with some promising youngsters either in the u21's or on loan (but recallable) to cover injuries.

Centre backs who can also play either DM/CM or in a full back position are useful, as are full backs who can play either side.

Centre forwards who can be used on the wing or AMC/CM are equally handy, helps to cover all the positions without the need for extra/unnecessary players in the squad.

Of course the golden ticket is the Billy Jones of FM 2006-2009 (rough guesses) type player, who is accomplished in basically every position on the pitch. Not sure if he still is on the later games but back then he was deemed a very promising player so had quite a high PA, not so much now.

Greg Halford was a very versatile player back in them days too!

I like your thinking though, i do have alot of players in my squad who can play in various positions.

Its something im going to have to think about because i dont want to end up having over 11 players aged 21-26 with 200k contracts eventually lol
would be insane!

It did work, the date you get after holidaying remains the same when you catch it up in your save! HAPPY DAYS

Just a heads up, most regens come into the game having already signed youth contracts so most of the time you can't just approach them and you'll have to make an offer to the club. And a lot of them pull the "I just signed for my club" thing on you so it's very difficult to find a good regen who you don't have to pay millions for and is interested in signing for you.

Though this isn't the case for certain countries like Russia, Croatia iirc so you might want to focus on those nations in particular.
Good luck.

Coming back to the topic, I don't like having huge Man City squads where you have like two complete starting elevens to choose and play. I go for a mid-size squad built around a core group of key players that should be seeing every game when fit. The other players should all be good enough and have a decent shot at starting, ideally. Those are the ones usually being rotated. Then maybe throw in some backups who will play in a pinch, usually youth players. But like Mourinho I take an overly cautious approach to blooding youth players, especially when the stakes are high like in the BPL.

Agree with Jake that versatile players are important, though I like to mix in some specialists as well, just to achieve some tactical flexibility. I try not to get too many jack of all trades, or too many players of the similar mould.

I also subscribe to the idea that the Match Engine is complex enough to take into consideration chemistry between players. I may be giving SI and their programme too much credit but because of this, I rarely make changes to the key pairings in my team e.g. centre back pairings, two-man midfield pivot pairings.

Oh and I only ever have one goalkeeper in the squad. The reserve is almost always a youth player. Whom I don't even pick for the bench. Yeah, I love risks.

Haven't had a goalie on bench since FM 2006. I can count on 1 hand the amount of times it has backfired on me, and a couple of those didn't actually cost me as the outfield player put in goal performed miracles.

I aim to have 2 good players for each position, not necessary world class or wonderkids but players that if your first choice gets injured or suspended you can rely on him. Can lead to players getting unsettled due to lack of playing time but you can’t please everyone and there’s nothing wrong with healthy competition! Also, does anyone else regularly rotate their promising regens in and out of the matchday squad for league games?

Often put two or three of my best prospects on the bench. If i chase into a comfortable lead then i tend to bring them on.
Got a couple who are looking really good already at 16!!

Exactly the same here!

Don't even have a back up keeper in my team, let alone the bench. Worst comes to the worst I bring up a youth player.

Jake, you got a screenshot of your current squad then?
Be interesting to see how youve set it out

I am referring to FM in general. I have only just embarked on my FM15 journey, having barely played FM14. I am currently Man Utd (as i am always on my first save)

I am playing a 433 with Carrick/Fellaini/Blind at DM and Di Maria and Rooney in central midfield, both Wayne and Di Maria are of course more than capable in other positions across the midfield and attack. Depay and Januzaj on the wings. Falcao up top (RVP injured constantly)

Other than Depay i haven't really signed anyone to get near the first team, aside from maybe Lucas Romero. So the versatility of players like Blind, Rojo, Depay, Herrera, Jones, Januzaj, Mata, Rooney, Young and Di Maria is handy. Ideally i will alter the squad balance going forward (but this will probably come from within based on the youngsters i have purchased)

I can post my squad later tonight but it won't add too much weight to my point as i am not yet close to my ideal squad.
