Just started a west brom save.
Playing 2 upfront. A CF support and possibly a ADVF or DLF (A) for Shane long???

Nop, I play 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1. I use Berahino instead, as Shadow Striker or AP(A) and at times two strikers with him him as Poacher and Shane Long as DLF. Anelka was *****.

I got rid of Anelka too on my West brom save, offered mutual termination for a mil or so, but saves you a lot of money in the future with his high wages and the fact its so hard to get rid of him.

Anyways back to super Shane Long! He is just phenomenal on this game! Signed him for 6.25mil on my Juventus save & I got him to learn the PPM "Likes to beat offside trap" and he is just banging the goals in for me now! He has scored 10 goals in his last 5 games! And they weren't easy games by any stretch of the imagination! He scored 2 goals against PSG in the champions league, and then 2 consecutive hat-tricks against AC Milan and Napoli! Absolutely unreal!

But in real life i'm seriously gutted to watch West Brom accept a bid for him :( My favourite player is on the brink of leaving my boyhood club :(

Bought long for my Southampton save in january first season, his first 6 months were kinda ****** to be honest. I tought no way he is going to be as good as you guys were saying he was. But I decided that he was going to have 6 more month to prove himself o be worthy and he has been scoring goals for fun 27 apps 22goals and 7 assists.
To be honest he misses a shitload of CCC but he has so many of them that he ends up scoring, also he always gets past the keeper because of his pace.
I have Ronaldinho at AP and some good passers on the wings to feed him the ball and he delivers goals.

Now you can see why Hull want him so much.
Haha, Yannick Sagbo is terrible, he missed a very easy chance in the game against Chelsea (well, good for us). They've signed Jelavic too. I wonder if Bruce is planning to play two striker formation.

I hope the owner sells the club and it plunges into massive debt and West Brom buy him back! God **** miss that guy already!

I know yeah, that touch! Wow! I was at that game :') Season ticket holder ay i :P (Theres the black country accent for ya)
It's really sad that West Brom gave away the lead. A win and Steve Clarke might not have been sacked.

Tell me about it, i could tell it was coming though, the second they bought on Agbonlahor the villa fans went extremely loud, i'm talking about the loudest i've ever heard any fans sing, and obviously fans can sometimes be the 12th man, and on that day they unfortunately were :(

About Steve Clarke, i'm not really that fussed that he was sacked, the only reason he did so well first season was pretty much because he inherited Roy Hodgson's squad and basically just played the same team and formation that Hodgson used. Plus we also had the beast that is Lukaku! Now that we have lost long, I can't see who can replace him, I don't want Anelka, he is the most laziest player i have ever witnessed play, doesn't challenge for any kind of ball what so ever. Berahino could potentially fill the gap, or maybe Vydra. Anichebe is just injury prone.

SHANE COME BACK TO THE HAWTHORNS!

I'm a Chelsea fan so you understand the reason behind me not wanting Clarke to get sacked, it's sentimental not logical. Much like Di Matteo's. West Brom are the only other team I like, so it's a mixed bag of feelings for me. That is completely forgetting the match at Stamford Bridge, it was a nightmare from both sides.

I'm still extremely puzzled as to why Long was sold. Berahino looks like a solid prospect but it's be bad decision to rely on a youngster for half a season, Anelka well.. has been extremely disappointing. That is not considering his "gesture" and the criticism it has attracted.

Yeah i suppose you have valid reasons, I don't reckon he'll get a job in the Premier league again though, i reckon his next stop will probably be somewhere in the Championship now, and if he really is that good of a manager then hopefully he'll get them promoted. I did like Di Matteo, didn't want him to get sacked, but kind of glad we did since we were able to get Hodgson. Yeah Ramires the diving piece of sh*t! Haha! But i'll take a point at Stamford Bridge anyday!

The reason long was sold is because money talks, we have the most uptight chairman in the world. From what i've read on the internet he won't be giving Pepe Mel any of the long transfer money and that Mel will have to settle for loans and freebies. I agree about Berahino, i don't want to burn him out too quickly. Well our shirt sponsor Zoopla have placed an ultimatum with West Brom, apparently they said if we don't drop Anelka on Monday, they will be cancelling the sponsorship agreement.

To be fair on referee, Ramires keeps on falling all over the place, but he does tend to intentionally go and hit a player and the fall down in penalty box, it's hard for refs to judge if it's a foul or not. West Brom were frustrated because you thought you deserved all three points, we were frustrated because we were awful. Most of my buddies (Chelsea fans) still prefer not to talk about that match, it felt like snatching two points undeservedly.

Anelka is on pretty high wages though, no? Something above 50k/week mark, Contract situation can't be piled on as a reason for Long sale, Pepe Mel also had no say in it, which a manager deserves. I'm still a bit ****** at Long's sale. Hull already were spending money on Jelavic, should've left Long alone.

Being an Ablion fan & season ticket holder for nigh on 15 years I can safely say Shane Long is the most overrated player on FM!

Don't get me wrong, I actually like the guy IRL, will always give 110% but just not a natural goalscorer, never has been & never will be! The reason why we sold him is simple, Hull offered 7m for a striker that has a goal ratio of 1 in 4, a guy that, despite his energy & work rate just isn't premiership quality imo. His 1st touch is one of the worst I've seen, I see some one mention the Villa goal he scored, believe me, it shocked even us Baggies fans ;) Okay, the way we played him also meant he was isolated but 99% of the time he'd either fall over or lose the ball. He may well flourish at Hull, wouldn't surprise me, but worth 7m?! not a chance!

I hope now that Berahino actually gets to start games, that Vydra gets his chance & that Anelka does indeed get sacked. As for not spending any of the Long money, not surprised one bit, we never spend money at the best of times, let alone in Jan! haha

Have to be honest tho, season of struggle for us, big fan of Pepe Mel having watched his Betis team alot when he was in charge, hopefully can keep us up & go from there.

Boing Boing!! ;)

They sold Long because they couldnt agree a new contract and only had 18month so they thought might aswell sell now and get a decent price but i still think they have to replace him i think they have a decent team with like Mulumbu Yacob Olssen Foster Brunt etc but they need a ST i think they will go for someone like McCormack from Leeds wish will be a disaster i think they should get Fletcher from Sunderland or Loan Guidetti from Man ****** before Stoke do

Yup, Even I know he's not a goalscorer of this level IRL, His stats aren't over impressive on FM, but he seems to score. Samuel Eto'o with far better stats (got him on free second season at West Brom) hasn't scored in 9 games. I checked his last year's stats, he scored twice in whole season at Chelsea.

Long's decision stats are horrible yet his decision making is very good. He is nowhere near this level IRL. Berahino is a very good prospect, but not someone a team can rely on, at his age. Vydra and him rotating might be worth a try.

I just feel the reason he wasn't doing much is pretty much because he had a lack of help up front, all i've seen us do this season is mainly a long ball over the top and hope shane long could do something with it. If you look at last season when we had Lukaku, the long ball strategy worked at times, because either Long or Lukaku could play target man and head the ball into the path of the other one or hold the ball up and bring other players into the mix, but this season, playing just one up front is a lot harder. Personally since he's one of my favourite players i really hope he does flourish at Hull and i hope we come to regret it, just because i think we were playing him completely wrong. We expected too much from him playing as a lone striker.

Glad you feel the same way i do about Anelka! Biggest waste of wages i have ever seen! Those supposed 50k wages could have been used on tying down our key players on long term deals.

From what i've Read about Mel i do have a really good feeling about his appointment, maybe we'll actually stop this occasional long ball nonsense and get back to the football we were playing under Hodgson.

Can't believe you've just said Brunt is decent xD I can't stand him, not worthy to be our captain, nor has he played to the standard he can play for the past 2 seasons. Okay lately i feel he's been doing well, but he's been one of our weak links for a while now.

I don't think we'd ever accept Fletcher due to the time he spent with Wolves, good striker but i also think he'd be out of our price range. Guidetti i believe has already signed for Stoke earlier this week. We won't sign anyone permanently since our Director of Football Richard Garlick has already announced only loan signings and freebies will be allowed.
