Just started reading this story and it has been a great read so far. One thing though, how has your youth intakes been for you? Is there any gems coming up through the Sheff Utd youth ranks?

Gary Lineker - Hello and welcome everyone to the final quarter final match of this 2018 World Cup which sees Brazil take on Czech Republic. How do we all see this game going? And how would you rate both teams so far in the tournament?

Rio Ferdinand - You've got to fancy Brazil although we certainly havent seen the best from them in this tournament yet. They scraped through their group which was an achievement anyway in such a tough group.

Alan shearer - I totally agree with Rio, Brazil just havent got out of second gear yet, but they havent had to! Apart from the Spain game where they just edged it, Brazil just havent clicked. Even Neymar hasnt hit top gear yet and he'll need to if they want to win this thing.

Alan Hansen - I too fancy Brazil tonight but think they'll find it harder than they possibly imaine. The Cech Republic have been really good up until now and i really think they can cause Brazil a problem or two!

Gary Lineker - Lets have a look at the line ups for tonights match then.

Gary Lineker - So the big news .... no Neymar!!!

Rio Ferdinand - I honestly cant explain this one. The only possible reason is that Brazil think they can get through the game without playing him and rest him for the future ties. Very risky!

Alan Shearer - I really think this worst Brazil line up i can remember! They've never recovered from the 7-1 defeat to Germany in this tournament 4 years ago!

Alan Hansen - The Czech Republic have never had such a good chance to get into the semis and beat Brazil in the process. This really could come back to hurt the coach.

Gary Linaker - Okay well lets join our commentary team as kick off has come around.

KICK OFF

6"
The first noteable chance of the match falls to Brazil as Ewandro missed the target from 6 yards out following a good cut back into the box from Bernard.
14"
Another Brazil chance goes begging. This time Oscar wastes a good chance after putting his effort wide from the edge of the box.
22"
A really bad tackle from Tomas Kalas on Oscar who somehow manages to avoid a booking. Luckily it looks as though he'll be able to continue.
29"
Oscar with yet another chance wasted, glancing his header wide from 6 yards out.
34"
Good play from Krejci who manages to beat Alex Telles and get to the by-line and manages to cut the ball back to the edge of the box only for Kadlec to get his angles all wrong.
44"
Yet another good chance for Brazil just before half time, good play from Giuliano manages to feed through Ewandro who gets into a one on one with Petr Cech who manages to turn his effort around the post.

HALF TIME

Gary Lineker - So, goalless at half time. What's your take on the first half?

Alan Shearer - Pretty much as i think we all imagined Gary, Brazil dominating possesion and having the better chances throughout the half but the Czech Republic defended well and deserve to go in at half time level.

Rio Ferdinand - In all honesty, Brazil should probably be one up, especially with the late chance that Ewandro had which Cech did very well to turn wide.

KICK OFF

55"
Right back Ygor charges forward for Brazil and whips in a great chance only for Ewadro to miss yet another glorious opportunity.

65"
The Brazil supportes suddenly find a voice after seeing Neymar replace the very ineffective Lucas Leiva.

70"
As the game goes on everyone tires which is creating more space for Brazils attacking players. They've now recoreded 30 shots with 8 on target. However it remains 0-0.

80"
Neymar with a dazzling run from the half way line who beats 3/4 players and lets off a great stike from the edge of the box which beat Petr Cech ... and hits the post.

84"
A late chance for the Czech Republic, after defending so well all game they could well have taken the lead. Pavel Kaderabek manages to break following a promising Brazil attack. He plays through Kadlec and drags his effort just wide. The Brazil team were certainly worried.

90+3"
A final chance of the first 90 minutes comes following a long range strike from Neymar which in truth was never worrying Petr Cech in goal.

FULL TIME

Danny Murphy - I think this result has surprised a lot of people, myslef included. I though Brazil would win this one with realtive ease but the ommision of Neymar left everyone devoid of confidence. They looked so much better after the was subbed on. The Czech Republic have defended very well, very deep, but have also had a couple of chances themselves.
I still think Brazil will come out the victors but they'll have a scare or two. Fitness may also play a part!

104"
A further chance falls to neymar following a poor defensive clearance from Tomas Kalas, his effort goes wide.

109"
Good play from Krejci who manages to get to the by line where Ygor deflected his cross for a coner kick. Ball comes in at the near post and finds the head of Lukas Hejda who powers a header past Petr Cech!
GOAL - 1-0 Chech Republic.

View attachment 313129
102"
An overlapping run from Ygor beats Reznic which allows him to put a teasing far post cross in. It beats Cech whos caught in no mans land and falls to Michal Kadlec who get a toe on in ... but puts it into his own net.
GOAL - 1-1.
Kadlec had to do something as Oscar was waiting for a tap in. Brazil were'nt behind for long.

107"
Fitness is really playing a part as the game becomes stretched.

109"
A half clearance from Darida falls to Neymar at the edge of the box, Neymar plays a forward ball to Ygor at the right wing position. Ygor puts in a teasing cross and Diogo gets a run infront of Tomas Kalas and finishes well underneath Petr Cech.
GOAL - 2-1 BRAZIL

114"
Krejci with a free kick 20 yards from goal, pretty central. It beats the keeper ... and hits the crossbar!!
This must be the last chance for the Czech Republic

FULL TIME.

QUARTER FINAL RESULTS:

View attachment 313126
In form Argentina defeat hosts Russia but needed extra time to do so. Another in form side, England, powereed past Ivory Coast, they could become one of the favourites at this rate. Mexico pulled off the shock of the round, beating pre-tournament favourites Germany on penalties, Carlos Fierro with the winning strike.

Haha, no worries, want me to delete my comment to keep the story in line? Edit: Deleted my other message, feel free to delete your one above this comment and then I'll remove this comment :p Just so it doesn't ruint the story for anyone :p
No, dont worry mate. Quarter final now posted anyway. Cheers for the comment anyway. You'll have at act surprised now haha.

Just started reading this story and it has been a great read so far. One thing though, how has your youth intakes been for you? Is there any gems coming up through the Sheff Utd youth ranks?
Thanks for the comment mate. Good point on the youth, i probably should have mentioned it by now. The reason i havent is that we havent had a single decent player! No over 2 star potential, plus the board wont increase any of the youth facilities. Its a shame because UTD seem to constantly bring good youth players through every season.

Good story so far. Surprised to hear about no youth players coming through. Would have thought that there would be some talent. Maybe the board will budge once you've established sheff utd as a regular premier league team
Unlucky against Brazil as well. Seems you have a decent Czech team on your hands for the future

So with the Quarter finals out the way, lets see how the rest of the tournament played out without us.

So England get some revenge on Brazil on our behlaf, beating them 1-0 with a Danny Welbeck winner. Argentina also continued their good form with a comfortable win over surprise package, Mexico.

It will be an interesting final between the two old enemies but i think Argentina have to be favourties due to the amount of goals they've scored throughout the tournement.

WOW! Did not see that one coming!! ENGLAND ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS!
Didnt think i'd ever see this happen! A great game and performance from them. Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring only for Lionel Messi to equalise. Welbeck then scored his 2nd in 2 games to put them 2-1 up. James Ward-Prowse then capped off the win as England ran out 3-1 winners!

Best player award:

Shockingly, Nathan Redmond won playr of the tournament with an average rating of 7.84 and an increadable 4 goals and 3 assists in 5 games!!
Messi came in 2nd place with 6 goals and 3 assists in 6 games, again increadible stats!
Doumbia then came in 3rd place with 5 goals and 6 assists in just 5 games and an average rating of 8.14.

All 3 players had similar stats throughout the tournament, Redmond probably edged it due winning the final and also set up 2 of the goals in the final.

Top Goalscorer:

Again, another surprising winner, this time Carlos Fierro winning the top goalscorer award with an increadible 9 goals in just 5 games! Messi came second with 6th with Doumbia in 3rd with 5 goals.

Finally some news!! The consortium finally complete their take over and lift the transfer embargo! We've already missed out on countless players so this couldnt come quick enough.

Because of this news we can confirm the following signings:

Yann M'Villa:
View attachment 312861

M'Villa signs Juventus for £4million. M'Villa was a regular for the Italian champions last season, making 27 appearances so it was a surprise they let him go.

Ross Barkley:
View attachment 312860

Ross Barkley becomes the second new recruit following the transfer ban being lifted. Barkley signs for £3.4million from Tottenham. Tottenham had previously splashed out nearly £15million for Barkley from Everton in 2015. Barkely however failed to live up to his price tag. Despite only being 24, Barkley already has over 100 Premier League appearances and several England caps.

Bruno Martins-Indi
View attachment 312859

Martins-Indi signs for Blades from Man City for a fee of £7million. Martins-Indi had made 38 appearances for Man City last season at both center half and left back. Although the £7million price tag is heavty, he really should be some quality into the side.

James Milner:
View attachment 312857

Milner becomes the second recruit from Man City this season after he fell well down the pecking order. Milner signs for a of £750k and will primarily act as back up with his ability to play in several positions becoming vital.

Loic Remy:
View attachment 312855

This has got the be the best value signing of the season (if not the story). Remy signs from Newcastle for a fee of £4million after bagging 20 goals last season in 34 appearances. Remy was in the last year of the contract which goes someway to explain the low fee.

Angelo Henriquez:
View attachment 312851

Another striker comes into the club following the arrival of Loic Remy, this time in the shape of Angelo Henriquez. Henriquez signs from Juventus for £4million having only joined the Itallian giants a year before for over £7million. Henriquez never fit in with Juventus, only making 7 appearances and scoring 2 during his spell.

Tomas Kalas:
View attachment 312849
Tomas Kalas, a player i know very well following my time with the Czech Republic, becomes the latest addition. Kalas signs from Arsenal, again £4million was paid for his services. Kalas was a bit part player for Arsenal, playing in 15 games in each of his 2 seasons there. Kalas was a star performer for the national side which really brought him to our attention.

Free transfers:
View attachment 312848 View attachment 312847 View attachment 312846 View attachment 312845

Omar Deschamps - A quick central midfielder who signed from PSG, 5 star potential but doesnt look ready yet.
Sinan Kurt - A great prospect poached from Bayern Munich. The agreement was made last year but only just joins the club. Left wing is his favoured position but just didnt get enough game time at the German champions.
Srdjan Mijailovic - Bit of an unusual one here, a free transfer from Turkish side Kayserispor. But a player like this really should have found a club by now. But good news for us is he didnt and joined us on a 3 year deal. His prefered position is defensive midfield.
Ibrahima Traore - Last years player of the year finally joins on a permanent deal. Very glad to get this tied up as BMG came in with a late offer which he turned down.

Well, this brings an end to our pre-season transfers coming in, during this time we also said goodbye to Graziano Pelle who joined Newcastle for £3million. Fortunately i dont think the transfer embargo hampered us too much after getting these deals done.
Lets see how the season plays out with the increse in expectation and of course European football for the first time.

Some very nice captures there mate. Guessing the new owners gave you a fair budget to work with, bring on the new season!

Wont comment on England winning the world cup. Lmao & shaking my head!

Unfortunately, I've encountered a corrupted save file here ... so i guess this is the end of the story! Massive shame as we go into Europe for the first time this season!

Thanks for following everyone, and i have an idea for a new story which should hopefully start shortly.
