It was announced today that Mark Goldberg quit his position as Manager of local football team Bromley FC, after 3 years in charge. This revelation follows a dispute with the Chairman, Jerry Dolke, over the financial funding within the team.
Goldberg's agent today told waiting reporters that he wasn't willing to comment on the situation, although he will "miss Bromley FC, and wish them a great future". Jerry Dolke is allegedly looking to sell the club, and sources close to management are suggesting that this reason is why there was limited funding.

It is thought that a replacement will be set in place with haste, as this dispute has been building up over the past few months. In their previous season, Bromley finished in a secure mid-table position of 13th, as many people predicted.
Top candidates include Bromley's current Assistant Manager, Hayden Bird, alongside First-Team Coach, Lee Whittaker.
Jon Goodman has also been shown as an outside chance at the managerial position, although he is currently employed at Millwall FC as a Fitness Coach.

In a shocking turn of events, Bromley FC announced the surprise appointment of Samuel Thomas as new Manager, following the resignation of Mark Goldberg four days ago.
The 29 year old is a completely unknown figure in football beside a past history of playing for Sunday League sides, including River Cray, and Swanley Cardinals FC. In what is seen as a mutual decision, staff members have assured the new boss that they are more than happy to work under him, but will allow for termination of their contracts if they are seen as surplus to requirements.

Can Thomas take Bromley to promotion?

We were able to meet up with Thomas later that day for an intimate press conference, consisting of himself and three reporters.

"Your appointment is seen as a complete surprise to every one. Was this planned out from before Mark Goldberg resigned, or was it as much of a shock to you, as it was to us?"
"I was given a phone call from the Chairman a couple days after Goldberg resigned, and he asked me if I'd like to talk to the team and backroom staff to see if I like the club. After a look around at the facilities available, and the dedication that the entire club emitted, it was an easy decision."

"You're seen as someone with absolutely no managerial experience, and nothing more than a sunday league footballer. What do you have to say to these comments from supporters?"
"I think those comments are completely out of line, and I really don't appreciate them. Everyone has to start somewhere, and if I wasn't good enough to get past the sunday league stage then that was because of my abilities as a player. But as for the 'no managerial experience' comment, I'd like to gladly point out that I've been playing Football Manager for years now, so I should know what I'm doing. I mean, I took Barcelona to the Champions League three times in a row, so I'm sure that I can handle Bromley. But all jokes aside, whether I have the experience or not, it doesn't mean that I can't get the job done. Bromley are six leagues under, and my ambitions are to try and get them right to the top."

"You've been seen as a charismatic manager, making jokes and meeting the press. You've been highlighted as who seems willing to publicise life at Bromley. Will you be giving regular updates on the squad?"
"I joke around with people because it makes them feel more comfortable around me, and that's what I want, to build relations with the local community and media. I will talk to the press on certain points about the club, but too much exposure isn't always the best approach, and so I just want to get on with the job as well."

Whether Thomas can get the job done or not is now on the minds of fans, and with them expecting another safe mid-table finish, after the first month of competitive action in the Blue Square South, it will be obvious as to whether the appointment was a good decision or not.

Thanks, i'll put updates after the pre-season fixtures, and then monthly from then on.

As for the transfers, i'll include them in the updates, but will also just add them to the first post as they come and go.

Nice. Ill follow.

Can you upload screenshots of your signings, so we can see how good they are?

Also look up Charles Devineau he plays amatuer French football and is an awesome winger.

Nice call, i've made a bid for him, I have two low league french teams after him as well though and I don't want to pay over-the-odds for him.

I've added the attatchments of the players that i've signed so far.

Vaz is amazing!

And the pairing of ***** Robert and Rogers upfront could be leathal. Rogers as a poacher and the other as the target man/ support player.

Train Rogers' shooting especially cos he could make a great poacher. Also tell him to run with the ball through the middle cos his dribbling isnt bad.

Youve made great signings there and youve got some real pace which is hugely important in the lower leagues. BSS Champions maybe? Haha

Ah, well Champions would be an amazing achievement, but we'll have to see. At the moment i'm playing a 4-5-1 with an anchoring DM so I don't see Roger breaking in at any time soon.

I have Vaz in the middle with a lot of creative freedom to move about wherever he wants, and Mendy to back him up on the left wing.

I'll definatley be following this story mate, good luck with it!

Thanks, and any comments or positive critique will be gladly taken; pre-season is around halfway through, results will go up soon, alongside another 'press conference' from Thomas.

Nice signing in Patrick Vaz there!
Thanks, and getting a player like that - League One quality - on a free is always great. He may be in his 30's now, but he's a player i'm going to be keeping for a few years now.

No! Go more attacking! Play a normal 4-4-2 or if need be play 4-2-4 for that last 10 minutes of being 1-0 down 8-| Dont waste Rogers' pace on the bench, having someone who can really motor opens so many doors! Especially in the lowest leagues.

Pre-Season Friendlies

BromleyBarrow.jpg

Man of the Match:
***** Robert

Manager's Thoughts:
This was a great eye-opener, and it was fantastic to get a result against a team in the Blue Square Premier. Robert was clinical today, and his two goals were fantasticly taken. I also have to give credit to Guichard, who had an amazing game on the right wing until his injury later on in the game; he definitely looks set to be an impact player.
We were slightly shaky at the back, but I knew this would happen from the start, as we're in need of a good right back and a readily-available substitute centre back.

----- ----- ----- ----- -----

BromleyAltrincham.jpg

Man Of The Match:
Patrick Vaz

Manager's Thoughts:
Although Vaz came out with the Man of the Match award, I think that Mendy was on fire today. He created most of our chances, and ran the Altrincham defence in to the ground.
We've come out of that friendly with two injuries in our defence, which isn't good as that's currently our weak point. However, to win convincingly against another Blue Square Premier team is really bringing the team spirit up, and our strike force looks like it's been set in place already.

----- ----- ----- ----- -----
BromleyCrystalPalace.jpg

Man Of The Match:
Kieran Djilali

Manager's Thoughts:
As Crystal Palace are a Championship side who were predicted to beat us by "3 or 4 goals", we played amazingly. In the first half we made the best chances, and had them pinned back for most of the time. An excellent performance from the lads; if they can barely lose to a Championship side then we can definitely aim for more than mid-table in the Blue Square South this season.

----- ----- ----- ----- -----
BromleyGHAcademy.jpg

Man Of The Match:
Anthony Mendy

Manager's Thoughts:
In another game that we were predicted to lose, our defence finally held firm and true. Even with these two injuries to our defence in Gillman and Dunk, we still kept them to one key chance in the entire match, which ended in an offside anyway.

----- ----- ----- ----- -----

BromleyMacclesfield.jpg

Man Of The Match:
Yohan Guichard

Manager's Thoughts:
Our last pre-season friendly looked like it was going to be a real test, but Macclesfield didn't even get a chance at goal. Mendy, Guichard and Robert as a trio in strike will be a defining force for our season, and I could see one of them getting the Golden Boot for the BSS.

good luck with this :D
Thanks, I'm looking forward to this, it should be interesting, and I big challenge. Plus, it's my local team so it gives me extra inspiration.

Well my 4-5-1 worked wonders in my pre-season friendlies, so we'll see how it goes in the league. If it goes well, then i'll stick to it. If not, then i'll try 2 forwards.

4th August , 2009

Fans of Bromley FC were left disheartened at the news that Patrick Vaz will be sidelined for the starting two months of their campaign in the Blue Square South. After taking a heavy fall in a training session, Vaz broke his collarbone, and has been sent to a specialist to see about the break.
With the campaign about to get underway, and with an unexperienced manager in charge, it will be interesting to see if Bromley don't just crash and burn in these early days. However, after winning four from five of their pre-season matches - all contested against bigger teams - they look very strong, with a dominating strike trio.

Interview with Samuel Thomas, manager of Bromley FC:

"So the start of the season is right on your doorstep; are you ready for the campaign ahead?"
"Honestly? I had a month to get a team ready that could exceed the expectations of the fans, and it was a difficult challenge .. But yes, I am ready, and we're looking like a fighting team."

"Your pre-season friendlies really showed attractive, attacking football; is that the style that you'll be looking to adopt all season?"
"We won four out of our five pre-season games, losing only to a team that is placed four leagues above us. Oh, and if you look back, you'll see that we only lost 0-1 and actually pinned back the Eagles for most of the first half. Our attack has been tremendous, and I can really see one of my strike trio ending as the Blue Sqaure South top goalscorer."

"Patrick Vaz was shown in pre-season as a key man for Bromley, and a fantastic signing, but with his injury you informed us that he was set to be out for at least two months. Will this hinder your side's chances in the BSS?"
"Of course, Vaz was set to be a great player for us either in the middle of the park, or even out on the left wing. He was a definite first-team choice, and losing him just as we're about to start our campaign is a big loss; but we have amazing players who can take his place, and i'm sure that we can cope without him for the time being."

"You begin the season against Eastleigh, a team that has been tipped to fight for the title, and especially for promotion to the Blue Square Premier. What do you think your chances are?"
"As long as we stick to our game plan, we have a great chance. Our pre-season friendlies and training confirmed this for me, and I feel that our attack can take on any team near us, even up to League Two, so can see us bagging a few goals on our day."

"We'll let you get back to training with your team, just after this question; who do you think will win the Blue Square South this year?"
"Bromley."

Thomas was in a great mood as usual for that interview, and his inspiring words are sure to give his team a big morale boost. However, is he putting pressure on his team to exceed expectations of a mid-table finish?

Thanks, and always glad to help out. There were a few other players that I knew about from a previous game, but their stats had dropped for this current one, so I didn't bother with them.

1BromleyEastleigh.jpg

Man of the Match:
Anthony Mendy - 9.0

Manager's Thoughts:
When Eastleigh scored within a minute, I knew this would be a hard game. They had some good chances but we made the most of our own, and came our with the win, and that's what counts. Guichard picked up an injury which isn't a good by any means, and just adds to the list.

----- ----- ----- ----- -----

2BromleyBraintree.jpg

Man of the Match:
Luke Rooney (Braintree) - 7.8

Manager's Thoughts:We went down to another early goal in this match, showing that the injuries in our defence are really giving our opponents unnecessary chances. Robert showed why he's our #1 striker today, but just before half time we gained another defence in the heart of our defence as Besson went down to a hard challenge.
All in all, we took control of this game but just couldn't finish the job.

3StainesBromley.jpg

Man of the Match:
Anthony Mendy - 7.8

Manager's Thoughts:
Bouncing back from the last game, our defence stood firm in this match, giving Staines only four off-target shots in the entire game. Where we should have scored more with the chances that we made, we completely dominated in midfield, bringing in 65% of the possession.
We showed today that we definitely are potential promotion-chasers in this league if we stay can keep our defence tight.

4BasingstokeBromley.jpg

Man of the Match:
***** Robert - 8.8

Manager's Thoughts:
Robert showed - yet again - why he deserves a chance at the BSS Golden Boot award; while he missed out on a hat-trick, our first goal should have actually stood as Robert's first goal of the match. It took a slight deflection from 5 yards at the near post and so the ref decided it was best to award it as an OG.
When Basingstoke finally got their chance late in the game and scored their first goal, we came back from the first whistle as Robert scored yet again.
I'm sure you can guess it, but this was ***** Robert's game, no questions asked.

----- ----- ----- ----- -----

5BromleyDorchester.jpg

Man of the Match:
Neil Martin (Dorchester) - 7.9

Manager's Thoughts:
I'm completely infuriated with the referee on this match; after being 1-1 for so long in the game, we broke and scored a late goal only for the ref to rule it out as offside. After telling the press exactly what I felt, the FA stood down, and so I will be putting forth an official complaint in the next few days.
A win here, what we deserved, would've taken us on even points with the league leaders, Maidenhead.

Try Seyfo Soley if your using the latest patch his stats ahve come down so he might come to your team
