Well, not the start I was hoping too, but predictable. No one can say that we have a better squad than Chelsea, and I don't even have to say why. Check the money they waste and you'll get the answers. Still, this game wasn't for us to win, it was just for me to study them before our match for the SuperCup. It wasn't a bad result. We coukd do better but they played better, were at home and deserved the victory.

We performed well tonight against a very hard opponent. We didn't start as we expected, but then put ourselves in the front of the game. We showed a great scoring ability and we'll try to keep the good results. This is a friendly cup but with hard opponents, as in the final we will face Köln, not an easy team as well. I think we can handle with them but they can create problems, as they have very skilled players, such as Podolski, Maniche and Geromel.

Yay, we won the first trophy of the season! We absolutely dominated them, and battered a really good team, which finished in the first half of Bundesliga, one of the top leagues in Europe. It's a good way to prepare our supporters, who were already saying that we might not be champions this year just because we lost in our first friendly. We are playing quality football, and the Portuguese and European teams had better be ready to stop us, as all we are aiming is to conquer all the titles we're at.

And we showed our Champions League quality again. Arsenal is, without any doubt, one of the top teams in Europe and is now also another of the top teams in Europe we won against. It was a really good game of football, the 1st half was very disputed between both teams but in the 2nd half we dominated and score the winning goals. I also want to confirm that Cardozo was badly injured and will be out for 2 months. Until then, Cabanas will show what he has got and take his position next to Milevskyi in the front line.

Today all we wanted was to show the squad to our supporters, who were amazing last season, following the team all around Portugal and Europe. The only thing I'd like to ask them is to continue supporting the team, as sometimes it is their support and motivation what makes us win and keep up with the good results. Today we performed well and battered another good team in Europe. Our squad is unite and only eyeing one goal: Winning everything. When we finish our careers, we want to be allowed to say that we won every trophy we could in Portugal and with Benfica.

I end this story as FM 2011 is arriving and until then I will be in holidays. But then, as soon as I buy the game and play a little to get used to it, a new story will begin, again in Portugal, but probably at another club.

CASTRO GETS FIRED​

In an absolutely surprising and unexpected decision, Benfica's president Luis Filipe Vieira announced in a press conference the firing of the young talented and successful manager Pedro Castro. Vieira said that he didn't accomplished the objectives and that along with Castro success, the young trainer got arrogance and selfishness.​

I'm sorry to tell all our fans that Pedro Castro is no longer the manager of our main football team. Many may find this decision a bad decision, others may even think that the one who should leave is me, but those don't know half of what was going on at our club. Castro doesn't represents the philosophy of our club, and so he must not continue working at this big club. We will start searching for a new manager who can lead our club to the greatest season of all.

CASTRO REMAINS SILENT​

In the day after LF Vieira's conference, Pedro Castro was pursued all over Lisbon. He went to Estadio da Luz hours before a derby against Sporting to sign the end of contract and receive the release clause. There were about 500 fans outside the stadium asking the manager why was that happening, and asking the president to quit. However, the only thing Castro said was:​

Lies don't last very long and this one will be unveiled tomorrow. I can't tell you nothing by now as I will give an interview to the first network which received me when I arrived. If you want to know the truth, watch it tomorrow. And don't worry, there are many quality managers out there, I'm just one more among them. Luckily, you'll find a manager as good or brtter than me to continue the platinum era I started last season. Luis Filipe Vieira? If he really wanted the best for the club, he wouldn't do this, but he's the president, after all... However, this decision will have repercussions he doesn't even imagine...
