As you can see we had a large amount of games due to the cup runs. Sebastian Corchia slightly edged Nathaniel Clyne at right back. Doria was again outstanding as were Lovren and Caulker with Balanta missing large parts of the season through injury. Victor Wanyama continued his excellent form and Ross Barkley had a good first season at the club. After two seasons out on loan at Bournemouth and Valladoid I decided to introduce Mario Pugliese to the first team and he put in some awesome displays. Bernard and Welbeck both had brilliant first season at the club pitching in with 31 goals between them. However Alvaro Morata really stepped up to the plate bagging 28 goals! Luciano Vietto and Alberto Cerri where also breaking in to the first team with some solid performances.

After last seasons amazing season I didn't want to disrupt the squad to much, we had a really good/young team who I believe will go from strength to strength. However we did bring in a new number one. Maxym Koval had made a name for himself as one of the best in the world after three superb seasons at Dynamo Kyiv which include a Europa League winning campaign, at just 23 Koval was at the perfect age to join us.

Also coming in was Romelu Lukaku having spent the last two seasons warming the bench at Bayern after an 18 million pound switch from Chelsea, I thought he'd be worth a punt at just seven million and 23 years of age. Our most expensive signing at 9 million was Juan Fernando Quintero who I see as a very similar player to Gaston Ramirez so would prove to be great competition for his spot.

Our biggest and only real main departure was Morgan Schneiderlin who left on transfer deadline day for 40 million to Manchester City! Now I didnt really want to sell him but for that kind of money I couldnt refute, I felt Marco Verratti and Mario Pugliese would step up and take his place. Also departing was Ryan Seager youth academy product who had spent the previous three seasons out on loan, whilst being a good stiker i new he wouldnt make it with us so when Nottingham Forest offered 5 million for him, we took it.

*Okay so currently im at the 1st Feb 2017, I'm going to put an update up, bringing you up to date with me and then I'll continue updating in monthly periods as I progress through the game*

Our Champions League campaign to date could not of gone much better we had a tough group with Real Madrid, Dinamo and Leverkusen who are currently seven points clear in the Bundesliga. Yet we managed to top the group winning five with just the one draw away at the Bernabau. The draw for the next round has also been kind to us, pairing us with Olympiakos.

We are through to the fifth round of the FA Cup after beating Tranmere 5-1. We surrived a scare in the third round however after Wolves forced us into a replay. The draw for this cup though has been much tougher with us having to make the trip away to Manchester City.

Maxym Koval settled in well as the clubs new number one, once again Doria was outstanding at the back with the whole defence looking stronger than ever conceding the least goals in the Premier League. Wanyama had another fantastic season along with Ross Barkley who's superb form earned him the Players Young Player of the Season award. Gaston Ramirez recovered the form of his early days bagging sixteen goals, however the biggest shout has to go to Romelu Lukaku who smashed in twenty six goals in his first season with the club.

Manchester United smash transfer record to land Alvaro Morata!

View attachment 398986

Manchester United boss David Moyes has smashed the clubs transfer record to bring in Southampton striker Alvaro Morata for a fee in the region of 35 million. Morata joined the Saints in the January transfer window back in 2015 for just 3 million. In his first full season at the club he went on to bag 28 goals however last season he contributed with just 11 after seeing his first team opportunities somewhat restricted due to the form of Romelu Lukaku.

Elsewhere Callum Chambers has completed his free transfer to Celtic and new signing Diego Fernando has been sent out on loan to Dutch Champions SC Heerenveen.

Saints boss finally lands his man!

View attachment 398983

Southampton have landed there long standing target Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan for a fee of around 30 million. The 23 year old Croation midfielder had been on the radar at Southampton for the last few years but a deal had proved hard to negotiate however this is no longer the case and Mateo will ply his trade at the Saints this coming season.

Kovacic has become one of the worlds leading midfielders after having been a real key man for Milan in the last two years, bagging 16 goals and 22 assists.

In other news Doria has finally put pen to paper on a new five year deal at the club, the Brazlian was entering his last year and it was rumoured that we would not be renewing after strong interest from Barcelona & Real Madrid however the Saints boss has convinced his man to stay and will have him locked down for his prime years at the club.

Cheers mate! I was surprised at just how good Lukaku was for us last season, hopefully more of the same to come! Barkleys been quality and I can only see him getting better, him and Kovacic should form a good partnership. More updates to come shortly.

Southampton capture Balotelli!

View attachment 398959

Southampton have pulled of the suprise signing of AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli. The Italian will return to the Premiership after leaving Manchester City back in 2013, since then he has gone on to score 80 goals for Milan. The fee is believed to be in the region of 30 million. The Saints where a striker down after selling Morata to United for 35 million a few weeks back. It remains to be seen if this will be a masterstroke or a bad move by the Saints boss.

woah balotelli.......... so will u bench him or lukaku

Its a tough one, I did consider going two up top Balotelli & Lukaku would be pretty dangerous! But I want to stick with my formation so I think itll be Mario on the bench to start with!

Saints splash the cash to land Marquinhos!

View attachment 398612

Southampton have smashed there transfer record by shelling out a fee believed to be in the region of 56 million for 23 year old Brazilian defender Marquinhos from French champions Paris Saint Germain. The gifted centre half is one of footballs highest regarded talents and will look to slot in next to fellow countryman Doria at the heart of Southamptons defence.

The deal for Dejan Lovren was also completed today with the Croatian heading to Seville. The Saints received around 15 million, which helped fund the Marquinhos deal. Lovren had been a key player early on for the Saints but had slipped down the pecking order and spent most of last season out with injury, now at 28 plus having Doria, Balanta, Marquinhos and Caulker it was evident Dejan's days where numbered.

Finally it has also come out that the Saints where in the running to sign Kurt Zouma from CSKA however the Frenchman decided to opt for Real Madrid for 33 million, sparking the Saints interest in Marquinhos.
