Southampton FC - The rise of the Saints!

marquinhos!!!! i love him always amazing fr me........ but 56 million!!! how did u get so much money?

Yeah him and Doria together, gonna be the perfect partnership. Im officially skint now though but I was given a transfer budget of 63 million, must be from winning the league and because we've done so well in the cups, plus the champions league football etc. We also sold Schneirderlin for 40 mill last season, Morata for 35 this season as well as Lovren for 15.

Pre Season

View attachment 398547

We went on two pre season tours, firstly to Belgium and then on to the States. After returning we arranged two extra home games against moderate level European sides to prepare us for the upcoming Community Shield game with Liverpool. As you can see the games went very well, scoring 25 goals and winning all seven. Gabriel Barbosa & Gaston Ramirez both topped the scoring charts with four goals each equalled by new boy Mario Balotelli.

Just read this whole story it is brilliant! Such massive success in such a short amount of time and the team you have now is an absolute god squad!!! Love it keep the updates coming

You're bossing it! I have a Southampton save myself and I hope I can have the amount of success you've had!

Amazing story here mate, Just read through the whole thing while eating my lunch and couldnt believe how well you have done! Racking up the trophies and signing some of my favourite players in Koval, Kovacic and Bernard. After reading the first two seasons i was thinking to myself god Osvaldo is not up to much he needs a proven goalscoring and then you brought in Danny Welbeck and i thought oh dear! But since then you have brought in practically every young decent striker around in Barbosa, Morata, and Lukaku have a look at Ewandro too hes a decent player and i would be interested in a screenshot of your Under 18's as you have heavily invested in your youth players would be nice to see how good the next generation could become. KIU

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad that your all enjoying it! I'm just as surprised at the amount of success that we've had, everything seems to just be clicking now. Like you say weve managed to compile a really talented squad and a very young one at that. Like you mentioned we really did struggle for a decent striker at first, Welbeck has done pretty well since coming in but with Lukaku and Balotelli now we should be fine, Barbosa is really starting to shine as well and will be a key player in the coming season. I havnt hear of Ewandro, cheers I'll check him out!

More updates to follow tonight, but first I'll show you some of our most exciting youngster in the U18s & U21s

Community Shield

View attachment 398398

Southampton picked up the Community Shield for the second time in the clubs history with a routine 2-0 victory over Liverpool at Wembley. The goals coming from Bernard and Gabriel Barbosa, however Lukaku picked up a twisted knee which will see him miss the next few weeks of action

Winners - Southampton
Runners Up - Liverpool

2017/18 Season
August

As you can see we had a tough start taking on City, followed by Chelsea but four points was a pretty decent return. This was followed by a routine 3-0 away win at Burnley. We've also started the season with a few injuries with Welbeck, Doria, Corchia, Lukaku and Vietto all missing these opening games however all but Vietto are now back in training and should return shortly.

Champions League Draw

View attachment 398179

The draw for the Champions League will see us face 2014 & 2015 runners up Juventus, who had won the Serie A five times in a row until last season when Roma snatched the crown. We also face Greek champions Olympiakos who we knocked out last season in the 1st knockout round. And finally we'll take on German club Frankfurt who finished fourth in the Bundesliga last term.

My Southampton save has been very similar to yours in terms of the number and the spread of trophies won, but I have to hand it to you - you won the Europa League and the Premier League a couple of seasons earlier than I did!

I got to the semis of the Champions League last season and have won my group this time around, knocking out Barcelona in the process. I'm a bit more restrained in the transfer market and in season 2020/21, I still have Clyne, Shaw, Lovren, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse and Rodriguez, with Lallana still hanging around as an unregistered over-ager in the U21s. I also bought Ross Barkley, but now I can't give him away, and Guido Vadala has joined me from Barcelona for this season.

Stadium capacity has just been increased to 42,790 and the training ground and facilities are being improved at the moment, so hopefully I'll be able to shape my squad around the products of the youth academy, with the occasional worldy from overseas.

Good luck with the rest of your save - race you to the Champions League title!

Did you see Dominic Fifield's article in The Guardian last week, about Calum Chambers and the Southampton Youth Academy?

How did you get all those players in your 1st season so cheap? Balanta doesn't go for less than 8mil and Doria is 7.5 minimum!
