Southampton's Rise

Wow what a coincidence haha :P Congratulations on the Capital One Cup, I can't believe I was knocked out by Brentford!

Ah nice transfers, although I played a couple of seasons as Man U to warm up and didn't think much of Blackett, how are you finding him? And you sold Gardos?! He's consistently my top performer or there abouts haha, did he not perform for you? And what about Wanyama? Not to your fancy?

Im still in the close season so not used any of the players yet. I bought in Ryan Bennett from Norwich and he played more than Gardos so he wasn't getting game time.

Sold Wanyama for £20m and that financed the Barkley deal so it made sense at the time. Any transfers you recommend?

Do you think the squad saints start with is good enough to finish top 6 without any first team additions? As im thinking of spending all of my tb and anything i bring in via player sales on the best 15-17yr olds in the world,

Well I bought only between 16 and 21 year olds in my first season and only just missed out on 4th so I think you'll be fine. Maybe buy an experienced and defender who can play CB and FB, I feel that's what I missed maybe. The side has a strong core though :)

Brill cheers mate, how much do you start with?

Ah fair enough. The three I'd recommend most if they're still available and you have the money are Douglas Costa from Shakthar, Eder Alvarez Balanta from River and Lucas Romero from Velez.

£17m but because their wages aren't too bad I think you can pump that up a bit, I can't remember to how much exactly but I made £30.5m of signings in my first season and only had to sell £8m worth to do so.

Brilliant, should be able to sign 4/5 wonderkids for that

End of 2015/16 Season

As the season came to a close I had a mixed set of emotions. On the one hand we had won our first FA Cup for 40 years and reached the Capital One Cup final in which we only lost to a 120+3 minute winner from Chelsea's Diego Costa having been up 2-0 after 7 minutes, talk about frustrating!

Nevertheless despite improving our points tally from last season we in fact dropped a place, finishing 6th in the EPL and missing out on my goal of achieving Champions League Football. Oh well, there's always next year!

We did however progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, a small achievement in that the board didn't anticipate we'd make it through our group. We lost out by 1 goal on aggregate to Fiorentina after a spirited
fightback at home despite losing 3-0 away in the first leg

Star Players:

Sadio Mane: Finished with the highest average rating in the squad, 42 games, 18 goals, 12 assists and an average rating of 7.37; what a season! His goal tally is all the more impressive given his starting berth from the wing.

Florin Gardos: Another memorable season for our trusty CB, 7.31 average rating and a whole 8 goals in 54 games.

Douglas Costa: What a debut season from our Brazilian import. 20 goals, 27 assists, 3 MoM, 7.26 av. rating from 58 games, he was lethal and could always be counted on to change a game.£12m looks like peanuts now.

Saido Berahino: Continued his rich form and ended top scorer in the EPL and for us; 35 goals in 56 games with an average rating of 7.14. I'm glad I paid what I did for him last season.

Other Notable Players:

Paulo Dybala: Produced a much better season than his first; like Berahino has bedded in well. He's made the no.10 role his.

Jorge Correa: Given his slightly limited opportunities he played well when called upon. There'll be more first team minutes for him next season.

Steven Davis: Following his injury he simply couldn't get back in the side, it's a shame given just how good he was last season.

Gabriel Barbosa: Despite a horrific injury in the first half of the season he doesn't seem to have lost his magic, putting in some decent shifts towards the end of the season.

Morgan Schneiderlin: Nowhere near as integral as he was last season. With Ward-Prowse coming through I might sell him this summer whilst I can.

Patric: Whining for game time, I can see him becoming a handful.

Zakaria Bakkali: Didn't take opportunities when handed to him. I think a loan move would be best for him next season.

Next season I'm desperate to qualify for the Champions League. I think we have a good young squad and with a couple of quality signings I think we can expect to qualify, have some good runs in the cups and hopefully push for the Europa League also.

Still a good season mate! hopefully you can push on into the top 4 next season!

Always enjoy a Saints save. My first year i came 2nd in the BPL and won the FA Cup. Currently in 2nd year sitting top of the league, and still in all Cup competitions. up the saints.

Nice, what signings did you make in your first season? 16/17 is going good for me so far, I'm in February and I reckon we can push for the title but it's tight.

usual suspects really dude, Adama Traore on loan from Barca was probably the key signing, was unreal.

Then year 2 removed all deadwood and improved the squad;

Best bit of business was Ben Arfa on a free, he was quality but Adama Traore's on another level, 13M profit on ben Arfa 8-|
