After sleeping on the Sergio Ramos / Mesut Ozil deal, i decided against it. At this stage of their career Ozil is worth twice as much as Ramos. I'd still love Ramos at the club so I emailed over our final offer to Real Madrid for Sergio Ramos ...

"Dear board of directors,

Thanks you for meeting me yesterday to discuss the transfer of Sergio Ramos. Unfortunately, having thought about the deal, I cannot agree to the straight swap between Ramos and Mesut Ozil. There we withdraw our offer for the player.

Having spoken to my board, this will be the one and only offer made as we are not prepared to increase in any way.

We will pay £14.5 million up front with a further £8 million to be spread across 36 monthly payments. This is a very expensive signing and by far the biggest I've ever handed out. But I feel it's worth it, Ramos really could be the difference between winning the league and finishing second.

He's 31 but I still think he'll have 3 or 4 more years at the very top.

The contract was eventually accepted after talking it through with his agent.

Only a couple of days after securing the signature of Ramos, Real Madrid came in with an offer for midfielder, Niklas Stark.

The offer was a non-negotiable £26.5 million offer with £15 million up front and the remaining £11.5 million over 12 months.

I was pretty happy with this offer so accepted straight away.

I'm happy to bring in these funds which offset the signing of Ramos slightly.

GIANLUIGI BUFFON SIGNS FOR ARSENAL.​

Italian goalkeeping legend has left Turin this morning and headed for London to join Arsenal.

Buffon signs for little under £1 million with his wages thought to be in the region of £110k per week.

Buffon went on to make over 600 appearances for which were split between his first club, Parma and Juventus. Buffon also went on to make over 150 international appearances.

Buffon joined Italian side Parma in their youth set aged just 13. He progressed through the ranks and eventually made his debut aged just 17 in Serie A. He then went on to make 7 more appearances in his first season and helped the club to a 6th place finish in the league.

He showed so much promise in those 8 appearances that the following season he was made number 1 and helped the club to a runners up spot in Serie A. A further 5th place finished the following season before he won his first silverware, the Eufa Cup, he also went on to win the 'Goalkeeper of the year award' in Italy that season.

After standing out at Parma Italian rivals, Juventus came calling in 2001. A £31.6 million offer was accepted by Parma.

Buffon then tasted unrivaled success at Juventus winning Serie A 7 times and the Italian Super Cup.

He also went on to win the world cup with Italy in 2006.

Buffon now ends a 16 year stint at the Italian giants to join Steven Gerrard at Arsenal where he will fight with wojciech szczesny for the number 1 shirt.

The signing has been met delirium from some fans and doubt from others. Some fans criticism is that the 39 year old is ageing and well past his best, others just look at his medal cabinet.

Pretty happy with this to be honest.

It's a lot of money but for a quality player who could turn out to be one of the best forwards available.

Paulo Dybala really needs some help up front as well, him and Welbeck aren't going to win you the Champions League. This means we can also play 2 up front if we like.​

Santi Cazorla ruled out for between 3 and 4 months with a torn calf muscle.

This is so frustrating as I had big plans for Cazorla, he could play either CM or RW. My intentions were to play him centrally but he now wont be fit until November and will miss a lot of games. With the season only a week or so away, I may need to dip back into the transfer market.​
 
Because of the recent injury to Cazorla, I set up a meeting with the board to discuss one more transfer .

This isn't the biggest transfer I've made this season but could be the most important.

Victor Wanyama arrives after several impressive seasons for Southampton.

I'm actually a little surprised how cheap he was, at £14 million, I would class that as a bargain.

Wanyama will slot into midfield nicely and should give the defence better cover than we can offer them now.

The question now is whether he starts in the Community Shiled or not
