What a ***** - how dare he claim we're disrespecting him after the way he's treated the club this summer? He indicated he would sign a new contract in October, then along come Man City with a bundle of cash and he's on his way. He's strung us - and evidently Wenger - along this summer.

If he uses this as an excuse ("the fans pushed me out"), he can expect ZERO sympathy from anyone. Have fun on the City bench, Nasri.

There was a small part in Independent paper saying He may join us :P

I agree with your post though..

Use this as an opportunity to improve. I keep saying it, but Arsenal shouldnt be down on this. They can turn this to their advantage

tbh he's not at Cesc's level if he leaves he wont be missed

Shows how desperate Cesc was to get this deal done. He didn't tell anything in public but surely he did behind the scenes. Did much more than Ronaldo hence they got such a low price. Ronaldo said his dream is to play for Madrid and left negotiation for us. We slapped 80M price tag, Madrid matched that and everything was done without any problem..

Yeah I think that must be true. No way they would have accepted such a low offer if he wasn't absolutely desperate to leave. Although I'm curious as to what Arsenal fans think...

Apparently an initial fee of €34m has been agreed with a further €5m coming our way depending on success, and close to €5m coming from Cesc's pocket. €44 isn't a bad fee, unless I heard wrong. Joss, can you confirm?

Heard the same as well. Papers are reporting the lower fee thought, unsurprisingly

Like you said Mata will be improvement over Nasri and they have Gervinho also. Only problem is there are not many CMs available who can replace Cesc or contribute like him.

When Henry left in 2007, Arsenal came out all guns blazing, but that time squad didn't have these many problems. Wonder what the likes of RVP, Nasri will be thinking now..

This why Wenger has to move fast, dont let them stew on it, show that they can come out stronger. But he can only do this through signings. Whatever happens I suspect Wenger is going to have to pay a little more than he'd like

Arsenal purchased Cesc's replacement a few years ago from Cardiff. They don't need a new creative CM. They need a midfielder forward to replace Nasri, then they need 1/2 new CB's, possibly a left back and a GK and maybe even a combative CM dependant on your opinion of Song.

I like Song Wilshire Ramsey as a midifled three, i think it has a good balance. Barton would be a shrewd move but is unlikely given recent on the pitch events...

Well Barcelona have to release all financial details so we'll find out soon enough.

Last night Rossell said it was €29m with two sets of €5m add-ons coming in the next 5 years (I think) which only takes it to £34m. He said he'd go into more detail today, but I don't think it's been confirmed yet.

Don't think anyone knows about the Cesc thing. Either he's simply taking a pay-cut to ensure Barca can afford it (even though they can anyway) which is worth about €5m, and/or he's actually paying Arsenal €5m (which would surprise me) and/or he's waving his loyalty bonus/mandatory release fee so Arsenal save €5m that way.

We'll find out soon enough.

Yeah I know I can't believe it!!!! :P

Nasri did not do much for Arsenal in the second half of the season and I don't think he'll be missed as much as people claim. And I agree that Mata would be an improvement. I don't think they need him though. They already have 5 capable wingers, and I don't see why they'd spend a bunch on Mata so that they could bench either Gervinho or Walcott. The only problem with their squad is that they need another DM. Wilshere and Ramsey will be rotating as the CM when the fixture list is congested, and that means Diaby or Frimpong will be playing a lot. Which should scare Arsenal fans. And they could use cover at LB. Sure their CB's aren't great but no squad is perfect. Once these players mature a bit they'll be great. I think they could win the title as early as next season if they stay healthy. And the departure of Cesc and Nasri might be a blessing in disguise. It allows for Wilshere, Ramsey, Frimpong, and Oxlade-Chamberlain to develop, all of whom will have a lot of minutes this year.

He has a masters in economics so you'd hope he understands that, rather than pull out for the sake of a few million.

Exactly. Well he is apparently set to meet Everton's price, so thats a great start and imo the most important signing.

Yeah there is Ramsey but I was talking about a player who used to contribute close to 40 (Goals + assists) per season. IMO Ramsey need a season or two to control the midfield. Nasri can be replaced with better player in Mata.</p>
<p>
 </p>
<p>
But Wenger should spend big at least for him. They need LB. No doubt about that. Gibbs is injury prone and I would count</p>
<p>
Traore as a LB. He is way too attacking minded and his positional sense is nil.</p>
<p>
 </p>
<p>
Yeah I agree, they need one combative CM/DM. Song is good enough, they need someone as backup. Maybe Frimpong is that one and can change few people's opinion..</p>
<p>
 </p>
<p>
Edit: No idea why there is so much spacing :(</p>

Even though I saw Fabregas leaving at the beginning of summer, i admit i'm still a bit sad that he left. Hopefully, Ramsey can step up and show us he is world class. I think we still need a centre mid and a centre back though, even if Ramsey can fill Fabregas' shoes he'll take some time to adjust. And we need someone to provide cover for Song, although if Frimpong lives up to his expectations then i think we'll be alright.

On another note, Moussa Sow says he would love to join Arsenal

Barring a stunning turnaround from Lille, you wont get Hazard. But I would hope Wenger is chomping at the bit to get Mata

Sure we will, just need the players to ***** and moan about him on twitter for two years first, apparently thats how transfers work nowadays.

Not too bothered what happens in the market tbh, Arsene has delivered CL football for the last 15 seasons, until that changes I won't doubt him. Everyones overreacting, need to get behind the team.

Manager Arsene Wenger is also still searching for a midfield replacement for Fabregas, having ruled out Valencia's Juan Mata, but is said to be adamant he will not pay over the odds for players even though the £55m raised by the Fabregas and Nasri sales will be put at his disposal. (MailOnline)

Looks like it's gone cold
