valbuena seems overated. didnt see much of him last season.

Apparently Valencia rejected a £25m bid for Mata from Chelsea yesterday...

Fair enough. Would have liked us to make atlest an effort to sign him. Maybe he has made up his mind about joining City..

Like Joss said, take a look at the wages he's demanding, that why we havent gone back

looks like Mata intention is only at Arsenal

Balague says he wants Arsenal or Barca (who aren't interested), but that Chelsea are very keen. Buy-out clause is apparently €60m, but Valencia will consider €30m bids.

There is no way Arsenal could have ever matched the reported 180k/week wages which means he was never likely to sign a new deal. Really good bit of business for Arsenal imo.

Make. It. Happen

I know that, what I'm saying is they didn't even negotiate with us. Agreeing with player is next step, we didn't pass the first hurdle..

Agreeing with the player is usually the first step. If the player doesn't want to join, or the club can't agree with the wage demands, then it's pointless negotiating with the club.

30m euros... what's that, roughly 25m pounds? Good deal.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Tapping up.. More like we knew Wenger didn't want to sell him to us, so we dropped interest long back..

Jesus, Mike. You're almost as obsessive about Mata as Jamie is about Vertonghen and Amauri.

Almost.

Assuming you're talking about Mata and Chelsea's bid? You have to have a bid accepted before you can agree a contract with the player... And you have to have the permission of the selling club to speak to their agent about it. Chelsea most likely just to be testing the waters. Not sure if they'll go back or not - quite a high first bid.

Think he means Mata...

Lol, still now that release clause has expired buying club should get selling approval to talk to player/agent.

If Chelsea end up signing Mata, would be interesting to see few Arsenal supporters reaction.. You could have got him a lot earlier. Wasted opportunity.

let Chelsea go for Modric. he's more suitable.

I am obsessed about Mata. He is the perfect signing for Arsenal and Wenger, he run into the channels and plays the inside balls that arsenal thrive on, and when needed he can even go wide and play the perfect cross. Plays excellent technical football, and yet can go direct when needed. Covers AML and AMC, even AMR if really needed. And at £25m he is a big marquee signing for Wenger to sign big (which will shut up the more idiotic fans) and much more importantly to sign right (will placate the reasonable ones) and it prevents a direct rival from strengthening

No, not Mata, transfers in general. And I don't mean signing a contract, I mean agreeing the terms, but not an actual contract. Obviously they have to ask permission, but once they have it they then talk to the player's representatives, then the negotiation with the player will be ongoing alongside agreeing a fee with the club. This isn't always the case, but this is the way it works a lot of the time now. Although quite a few transfers the player will actually be tapped up.

Chelsea need a creative player a lot more than Arsenal, and we also need a winger - he fits the bill perfectly.

Quite a few reports suggest we are about to meet Lille's 30M Euro Valuation for Hazard.
