His replacement is on his way to chelsea...

I agree 200% with your obsession for Mata. He was definitely the Nasri replacement and his price tag was pretty close to the transfer fee Arsenal will receive from Nasri's sale. It baffles me why Arsenal didn't tie him down earlier.

Silverware? I'd actually be pretty content if we just finished in the top 4 and made the knock-out stages of the Champions League. But yeah Wenger really needs to step it up as far as transfers are concerned.

I find it easier to be optimistic and positive than to be doom and gloom about anything and everything.

Agree with your reasoning, but this summer it's been/will be if Wenger doesn't sign, very hard to remain optimistic, but either way let's hope this actually forces Wenger to go out and spend some cash.

Even as a United fan I have a huge amount of respect for Wenger and have spent plenty of time praising and defending him. But someone at Arsenal screwed up big here. Chelsea are set to pay Mata 90k a week. They are celebrating, yet chelsea fans readily admit that he shouldn't be on his way there. Mata was dismayed that n deal was reached because he wanted to play for Arsenal. Mata was on 42k at Valencia, acknowledged that he probably would have taken a deal for 70-80k. £26m and 80k for Mata, who is 23, is a great deal, and we know that the fee would have been smaller than that.

Plenty more fish in the sea ;)

Mata would have been nice, I just have to hope that we have someone else lined up.

Mata would have been perfect. You werent blown out by wages, I mentioned it before but something else is happening in the boardroom. I'd be aiming at Griezmann now

I agree 100% those where the figures I believe would of captured him.. but i also believe that those figures were not acceptable for arsenal, their eye for a bargain has gone to far, if you prepared to pay that much for chamberlain (who is inexperienced and blah blah blah) then surely you can fork out for a world class replacement.

i believe Wenger secretly thought Nasri would be kept, to be honest however i believe they have a bigger problem upfront , arsenal need a striker actualy arsenal need a couple positions desperately hahaha, and its a shame cause it looks like United will run away with it due to brilliant signings on their part.

OK i know chamberlain never cost that much... but 10 mill you know what i mean in comparing the deals..

I don't see why we shouldn't make a major push for Hazard now. We easily have the finances and we need to fill that position. He also played with Gervinho

Only problem is that he is young, but that's not stopping Ramsey and Wilshere

@Mike. - Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting we pulled out of the Mata deal because of the expense of it. I don't know what happened. Wenger said "I don't have to tell you why [we pulled out of the deal]". With Nasri, he wanted to keep him but the board vetoed and I have to say I'm glad - Wenger puts too much faith in his players and we're right to let $amir go.

Lille pretty much won't sell at any price. And the price that they may consider selling for - upwards of £30m - isn't something Wenger would spend on one player. He's happy staying at the club and wants to repay them for at least one more year. Next year he'll leave, but so many clubs will be after him I doubt we'll get him.

I know Wikipedia isn't the greatest source, but read this for the LULZ:

"On the 23rd August 2011, it was reported that Arsenal had agreed a fee with Lille equivalent to around £26 million for Hazard, which would make him Arsenal's record signing should the deal go through."

LOL.

Why are you laughing?

Why are you laughing?
Because:

1) Hazard is happy at Lille

2) Lille won't sell for less than £30m

3) Wenger, in his lifetime, probably won't spend that much on one player

4) Because it's hilarious?

Some sources are linking us to Marvin Martin. I wouldn't mind him at the Emirates. Set Ligue 1 on fire with 17 assists.

Nasri should have gone a month ago and Mata in. The board have vetoed it too late though. Ether they should have made it happen earlier, or not vetoed at all. Now its a very difficult position.

Your sense of humour is a little bit weird. But yeah, I agree. Wenger will not spend that amount and Hazard will not leave for such a transfer fee. We really need a new player coming in before the transfer window closes.

Glad we're on the same page. ;)

Oh, and I don't have a sense of humor. Sense of humor has me.

Eight days of the window left. Let's hope to Thor that Wenger knows what he's doing.
