The key for me was the Udinese players being scared of RVP. Did you see how deep the line was? They just backed off and dropped

Which I found bizarre because anybody who watches Arsenal and RVP in particular can see that he struggles more when he's marked tightly and not given space to operate.

Why wasn't Van Persie pulled out with a half an hour left? And Ramsey as well? Those two need to be well rested for the ManU match!!!
I'm sure they will cope just fine with playing 90 minutes tonight and having to play against United.

J.Redknapp: "Arsenal and Manchester United have young keepers, I know which one I would rather have, 1 looks a man, the other looks a boy"

I'd rather have the one rated as having the potential to greater Iker by the Spanish coach, who Casillas himself says will hold the Spain No.1 for his career. De Gea has played 3 competitive games, funny how Redknapp forgot a certain high profile error from szczesny when he was breaking through as well.

From what I've seen, the difference between them is hype. One has a huge tag to live up to, the other doesn't.

I see no difference between their ability. De Gea has not impressed me in the slightest.....yet.

De Gea has had 3 games in a completely new league, plus the media being complete dicks. Szczesny has spent 3 years in England now, and is a year older. Judge him next year, when he's had time to adapt to the league, learn the language and bulk up more.

Oh, and De Gea has actually won something. Tee hee. Then, ironically, so would Arsenal if not for Szczesny.

And his performance was fine against Spurs. His fantastic, quick distribution even led to a goal.

Those 2 goals De Gea conceded had nothing to do with adapting - just poor, sluggish goalkeeping. It's a known fact he has had the same weakness in Spain.

Yep, fine performance against Spurs. His fantastic fumbling also nearly led to Spurs scoring a goal.

Well done De Gea for winning something. Still doesn't make him a better goalkeeper though. I don't see how he is superior tbh.

If we're judging a small sample of viewings where a mistake happened to be, then..

Buffon is ****** awful:

Why did we even bother with VDS for all those years?

Szczesny is so terrible!

Maybe Reina should have been the Spanish VDS replacement, or..

I'm not judging by the odd mistake. My original point was that I don't think De Gea is noticeably better than W.S (**** spelling that name).

De Gea's obvious weakness is conceding from long shots. I don't see any major weakness in W.S. I just personally think De Gea is rated higher because of being hyped up by Casillas, rather than judging his complete game. Both are talented goalkeepers though. And I do hope De Gea sorts it out and proves me wrong, even if he does play for Utd.

Buffon - Only mistake ever?
Van Der Sar - Apart from that one and the fumble against WBA, only error I've seen him make in his 22 year career. Crazy.

Thus my point, people are judging him at a young age after 3 games. It's easy to make anyone look bad using a small sample size and highlighting bad points. De Gea will be world class, he's not rated so highly by Spain for the lolz. If you're not judging him on his mistakes, what are you? Did you regularly watch him in La Liga the past 2 seasons?

Sometimes. But that was often against Barcelona, and that's enough to make any goalkeeper look bad.

If De Gea can be world class, so can our goalie imo.

Last season Carroll scored against Liverpool same like Dzeko did against us. Never seen anyone questioning Reina's ability. Well every keeper makes few blunders. I can live with few mistakes during the elarning curve and enjoy his excellence for a decade (If he stays with us).[COLOR=#00e0]

Just watch ManUtd Vs Liverpool games, he has done mistakes in 2 games for sure. One when Babel scored winner, in that game first goal was his mistake, and last season at Anfield he made mistakes. Against City in the FA cup semi finals his poor pass led to City's goal. Every keeper makes mistakes, just that De Gea was bought for big fee and was rated highly, media magnifies every mistake he makes and commentators never stop spouting **** about how nervous he is when he was calm as **** his passing was like a Midfielder..

And Barcelona have never managed to make De Gea look bad. Heck, his finest games are always against Barcelona. Your point being?

Stop hating, there are better things to do in life.

Going a lil off topic here, but if we are to show goalkeeping blunders...

Football premier-league: Arsenal and Liverpool tracking Parma starlet | Radio talkSPORT

Parma midfielder Danilo Pereira is attracting interest from Premier League sides including Liverpool and Arsenal, according to reports in Italy. The talented 19-year-old starred in the recent FIFA Under-20 World Cup, where he was nominated for the Golden Ball award after several outstanding performances for tournament runners-up, Portugal.
Pereira, who has been likened to Patrick Vieira for his strength and technique, joined Parma last year after Portuguese giants Benfica decided against offering him a professional contract.
Although his preferred position is in defensive midfield, he was deployed further upfield as a central attacking midfielder while on loan at Greek side Aris for the second half of last season.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal are expected to make enquiries for the 6 ft 1in starlet, with the former reportedly in the market for a defensive midfielder.

John cross Arsenal transfers yann mvila leighton baines phil jagielka eden hazard arsene wenger title contenders - John Cross - MirrorFootball.co.uk

Spot on, would like to see that happen, would improve us immensely, just can't see it though.

Scezney looks very good prospect. The way he charges off the line reminds me of great Dane. IMO he will become a top player.

Why is everyone arguing about De Gea and Wojciech? Both are talented young keepers, both will likely be top players and both and probably too young to compare against each other, give them a break.

Given that they both have 15 years ahead of them, bit crazy really

It all started with this:

J.Redknapp: "Arsenal and Manchester United have young keepers, I know which one I would rather have, 1 looks a man, the other looks a boy"

Yeah both are very talented keepers.
