Newcastle did make a bid [for Gervinho] which was accepted by Lille, the player rejected and is due to have a medical Wednesday morning in London.

I'm just pasting it from other source as I haven't joined twitter..

That's not what Gervinho's agent has said... In another thread here someone posted the link where Gervinho's agent said Gervinho is to join Cabaye in Newcastle...

edit: found the link

Love how he says "his agent has confirmed" then goes on to provide zero quotes. We'll have to wait and see - thanks for that Sunil.

Mate, No quotes from his agent, and you can't take seriously when the blog contains something like

The news has been confirmed today that his agent said he will be linking up with Lille teammate Yohan Cabaye (notice I got the spelling right), and his Ivory Coast international team mate, Cheick Tiote, who is at Newcastle.

And also ended with

While all this news is very positive, we’ll just have to wait and see if Newcastle can indeed pull this one off – but if they do it will be a terrific signing by Newcastle.
It’s never over until it’s over, is an old saying that is very true in these transfer dealings, so we still need to be a just little wary until any deal is signed.
However the news is more than encouraging at the moment, so here’s hoping.

So its a hope still..

With twitter and all, transfer rumors are ******* exciting. So many sources, rumors. Bound to falter somewhere mate..

Seems Gervinho is on the medical and just hours away from becoming a new Arsenal player...

Good luck Arsenal with him!
---------------------------------------

Switching topic a bit (xd)

Still feel sad that Eduardo left Arsenal even though it's almost been a year... I kind of liked Arsenal while he played there... God I wish that Martin Taylor from Birmingham never played football... Ruined Eduardo's career...

You and I both.

I was at the Emirates when we beat Shakhtar 5-1. We literally celebrated his goal for them like he was still scoring for us - such a legend and a great guy to boot.

I voted for Arseblog, think it's a great site, probably the best arsenal site around (K)

What is LadyArse anyway?

Arseblog doesn't want any votes because CO is bollocks.

LadyArse (LadyArse*|*A blog about the Arsenal, some Tshirts too) is a brilliant blog about Arsenal - better IMO than Arseblog because she actually writes articles rather than just sweary match reports and news updates.

I want him.

Dear Mr. Wenger,

Marvin Martin is French, cheap, small, skilful and scored 2 goals (with an added assist) on his international debut.

Sign him up.

That is all,

Unidentified Asrenal fan.

Samir Nasri wants Arsenal to move in the market before resuming talks

• French midfielder hopes big names will come to Arsenal
• Wenger linked to an array of glamour signings

Samir Nasri wants to see Arsène Wenger make a serious impact on the summer transfer market before he considers committing his future to Arsenal.
The France midfielder is at impasse over his new contract talks, having deemed the club's offer of around £90,000 a week, which has been on the table for some weeks, to be insufficient. The stand‑off has led to angst and frustration at the club.
But while Nasri wants more money, he is equally keen to see Wenger add big names to a squad that fell apart when the trophies beckoned at the business end of this past season.

Nasri, whose own fine form slumped in the final months, is similar to many of the club's supporters in the respect that he feels Wenger has to buy some proven talent.
Nasri has entered the final 12 months of his contract and, while it has been unfortunate that Arsenal have allowed the situation to develop, it is worrying that the 23‑year‑old has now spoken of the interest in him from Manchester United, who are in the market for a creative midfielder following the retirement of Paul Scholes. It could be that Nasri is using United as a bargaining chip. Wenger, though, has made it clear that he would not contemplate selling the player to the Old Trafford club.

Nasri said in an interview at the beginning of March that it was "today or never" for Arsenal to win the Premier League title. Disappointment at their capitulation – they took only 12 points from the final 11 matches and finished fourth, 12 points behind United – led to him asking questions about the strength of character in the dressing room.

Wenger, though, appears to have warmed to the theme of the need to galvanise the group. Although he is clear that his priority is to keep his existing stars, chiefly the captain Cesc Fábregas and Nasri, he does intend to be "very active" on the market.
He wants an experienced defender, who is used to the game in the Premier League, and Bolton Wanderers' Gary Cahill is a target, although Wenger is concerned that he is too expensive. He likes Paris St-Germain's Mamadou Sakho but he is only 21. Wenger also wants to reinforce in attack and he has been linked to an array of glamour signings, which might serve to appease Nasri. Wenger refuses to allow the former Marseille player to leave as a free agent next summer.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has backed Arsene Wenger to launch another serious challenge for honours next season, after the North London club endured their sixth trophy-less campaign.

"When you play for Arsenal there is always criticism. But I feel like any other fan. I’m like the rest of the team right now, I’m suffering,” Henry said.

The striker, who played 254 games for Arsenal, said that continuing to believe in the core of the squad and the team ethic is important to the long-term goals.

"We have to help and believe in that team,” the Frenchman said. “They had the potential to win this season, they've always been so close to winning but sometimes fall short.

“I think the team can do it and I hope that Arsene Wenger stays because he is a very important person right there for that organisation."

Henry will face Arsenal with current side New York Red Bulls in July for the Emirates Cup – and the 33-year-old says it will be great to face the club that is still so close to his heart.

"It will be a good feeling. To see Arsenal’s people again, the employees who work there, the players, the fans, the boss,” Henry said. "Arsenal is who my heart belongs to, so it will be an incredible moment, I hope.

"I love the people, the fans, the people who work there from the chef to the guy who takes care of the field.”
