Well thanks for taking Jenkinson, one of our best youngsters, off us to go in your reserves :( The comment about not being as proven as Shelvey is wrong IMO. Shelvey played a few more games but never looked more than average for us, Jenkinson has looked quality every time he has played.

Very composed on the ball, good distribution and a solid defender all round. Going forward he was okay, nothing amazing, towards the end of his time with us he tried to get forward a bit more.

Overall I think there is more chance he will make it at Arsenal than Shelvey will with Liverpool. This is only from seeing him in a few reserve games and the handful of first team games he has played though.

A little review of Jenkinson.

IMO, the only good thing about Wenger bidding for Jones was that it shows he is going to be willing to spend this window.

I'm glad we didn't get him though, we need more experience brought into the defence and not a young guy who is showing alot of potential. We already have that in Bartley.

Agree with this completely. Well said.

@Sulsey - Fair enough. I think a lot of people don't, though so you see my point. Verthongen, from what little I know about him, seems like another Vermaelen though? Don't really think we need someone like that and again, he's only 24. I think we need exp.

I understand, people go via FM Etc. I agree to a point. He is similar to Verm from what I've seen, however you calling for experience is needed but with Verm back some of that experience is there even though he's 25 he has still won various medals already.
As for an experienced centre back, who were you thinking?

Finland*

I've never seen him play but from what i've heard from Foss, he doesn't sound that good. Having said that, Foss is a bit of a mugbert so he could be lying ;)
My bad, I read that he is eligible for England, not that he is an international. Sounds like a English name though, doesn't it? Anyway, I'm off to bed, goodnight!

He is eligible for England through his mother. He's represented both at Youth Level and captain the Finland U19s.

Not sure, really. Hangeland is a possibility.

I thought he was English born and eligible for Finland because of his mother.

That's the thing. A top level experienced centre back that's up for grabs?
I personally can't think of any.
I also hope the Willian rumours are true. Don't watch the Ukrainian league really but from the times i've seen him in the CL he has looked sharp. Be good to get rid of Denilson too.

Also,

Internationally Jenkinson previously represented England, his country of birth, but later switched to Finland, his eligibility gained through his Finnish mother.[4] He made his competitive international debut in the 2011 UEFA U19 Championship qualification.[5] He scored his first competitive international goal in a 6-2 win against Moldova.[6]

Pfft, it's not like England need a right-back anyway.

Already spoken about, but here's the vid of the tackle on RVP. Shocking challenge

No, he is eigible for England through his father. His mother is Finnish, but he can't speak Finnish almost at all. He has liven his whole life in England too.

****** ****, that is horrific.

really hope this is true :D

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants TWO new centre halves – and is in talks with Blackburn’s Chris Samba and Bolton’s Gary Cahill.
Wenger has accepted that his back-line has to be strengthened and is trying to agree deals for the proven top-flight defenders.
Rovers star Samba’s touch may not be the best but he would be ideal for domestic action, where Arsenal were found wanting last season. The Arsenal boss will have to pay around £12million to land him.
Samba would also leap at the move, which would be a blow for Blackburn as they are already losing Phil Jones at the end of a season in which they only avoided relegation on the final day.

Wenger has also made a fresh move for classy Cahill, ironically after pulling out of a potential double deal for Samba and Jones.
The Gunners chief was not prepared to meet the valuation on England Under-21 prospect Jones, who is now believed to be heading for Manchester United.
Arsenal would like to take England squad-man Cahill for around £15m cash or throw some of their fringe players into a part-exchange package.
Bolton also have interest from Manchester City, which also includes exchanges, but the Gunners may appeal more to Cahill.
It would be a massive change of direction if Arsenal raided the domestic market heavily, but this past season has taught Wenger a few painful lessons.

Genuine Question: Have you ever seen Sakho or - even less likely - Verthongen play? Do you watch the Belgian national side, or the Eredivsie? Or are you YouTubing them and going by FM? How do you know they're not massively overrated as well?

Well here in Finland they used to show League 1 matches for free so I used to watch those when ever I had nothing better to do so yes I've seen Sakho play and he's good.

Vertonghen I watched in CL this season and last season I was in Holland and went to see Ajax game so I've also watched him play. I used to support Ajax when Jari Litmanen played there and I still occasionally watch some of their matches.

I rate them both well above likes of Samba and Cahill.

What the ****? That isn't even a situation in when a challenge like that would be most beneficial, think it's clear he's going out to harm the player there.

Awful, awful challenge.

RVP really shoudn't play in pointless games for Holland as we need him more than fabregas imo

Shouldn't stop a player playing for their country, would be ridiculous.

*Ligue 1, and anyway Vertonghen and Sakho are both young but haven't played in the Premier League before, but if they are cheaper then Wenger should definitely move for them instead. Haven't watched either of them before, just know them from FM.

Well every club can say that then, can't they? Barcelona with Messi, us with Gerrard, Chelsea with Torres, etc. You can't stop anyone for playing for their country, that would be outrageous.
