Nasri's injured, I believe - missed members' day too. Fabregas... Writing on the wall, I fear. I wish Wenger would just clarify that one thing this summer... Fine if he doesn't want to talk about OTHER teams' players, but at least tell the fans what the **** is happening re: Cesc. Doing my head in.

i recently said that he doesnt not want to talk about it. assuming that cese is not coming to portugal, the barca deal might be (could be, maybe) done.
latest figures i heard was 38m. ... :$

to me if a play is not commited to the [god ****] club, then he should go. idk about nasri. could go to the Manchesters for 22m :$

Joss, have AW pull out on the mateo kovacic guy. ?

Dinamo sources claim Wenger pulled out of the Kovacic deal as he felt it was too expensive.

The expert's view: what can Arsenal expect from Champions League opponents Udinese?

Arsenal were paired with Italian side Udinese in today's Champions League qualifying draw . Here MirrorFootball's resident Serie A expert Mina Rzouki explains what the Gunners can expect from their opponents.

What can Arsenal expect from Udinese? Expect the unexpected from the antithesis of the archetypical Italian side.
Gino Pozzo, the son of owner Giampaolo, described his club perfectly when he said: “Udinese is the only team in Italy adopting Spain’s philosophy of football in the sense that we try to prioritise technical qualities to develop a game that makes the difference".

They are almost the definition of a perfect project, a team that beguiled the nation last season by combining stunning young talent with mesmerising tactics. A club where superstars are born, Udinese scored their way into the top four in the league and Italian newspapers invariably lapsed into hyperbole whenever they analysed their unique style of play.
Disciples of the 3-5-2 formation, Udinese are a well-oiled side that are capable of shifting tasks effortlessly and a squad heavily reliant on their unity. Vicious on the counter-attack and well versed in the art of pressuring their opponents, each player has a great understanding of his and his teammates’ role making their movements seem effortless.

Their game is heavily reliant on the contributions of their wing-backs who offer defensive security in addition to speed and stamina. Pablo Armero and Maurcio Isla combined are a major threat to the opponent as they switch flanks incessantly, roaming the breadth of the pitch to find space and excel at either delivering short passes or pinpoint crosses to the strikers.

Defensively sound and offensively potent, Udinese's balance of tenacity and skill in midfield makes for a solid and compact unit. When defending, the wing-backs either drop back to form a five man defence or the midfield three drop deep to secure the centre of the pitch depending on the threat facing them. When they attack, it’s either a case of stretching the opposing defence wide using the skill of their wingers to create holes in the middle, or imposing their speed to distract defenders and allow the wingers to deliver the perfect cross into the middle for star striker Antonio Di Natale to score.

However, Udinese's secret weapon - and the reason behind their success - is Coach Francesco Guidolin, a man renowned for his tactical astuteness and human touch. Famed for the copious amount of notes he carries with him, Guidolin will study the opponent in great detail to identify their weaknesses in hopes of exploiting them. Flexible in his tactics, he sets up his team to counter opposing threats. The upshot of this last seasn was a series of surprise results including the 3-1 win against Inter and the 7-0 thrashing of Palermo's talented side.

Guidolin is also credited with making a superstar out of recent Barcelona signing Alexis Sanchez by moving him to the middle and deploying him just behind Di Natale – Italy’s top goal-scorer for the second consecutive season. The duo combined creativity with scoring precision and were the most feared striking partnership in Serie A last term.

Without Sanchez, Gokhan Inler (sold to Napoli) and indeed Cristian Zapata (now at Villareal), Udinese are now riding a storm of cynicism as many wonder whether they can still perform their magic without some of their best players. However, this is a side renowned for unearthing young talent and no sale is made without the guarantee that his replacement can and will perform just as well.

Udinese are now pinning their hopes on new purchase and Italian under-21 star Diego Fabbrini. Much like Sanchez, the youngster can play as either a trequartista or a winger and is known for his work ethic, self-confidence and stunning creativity. Fancying himself as a young Kaka, Fabrini relishes taking on players in a one-on-one and his change of pace and acceleration have proved a handful for those tasked with marking him.

In fact, Udinese have been remarkably quick to replace the gems they have sold. Palmeiras centre-back Danilo Larangeira was bought for his warrior-like approach to defending, and they also captured youngster Sergio Piccoli Neuton from Gremio - a versatile defender dubbed ‘The Man of Ice’ for his ability to cope under pressure. Capable of launching penetrating balls to unleash attacks, his tackling and excellent positioning will surely see him develop into a vital cog in Guidolin’s system.

Guidolin also recruited Mohamed Sissoko’s younger brother Abdoul Wahlid Sissoko, a midfielder who loves to be given the licence to roam forward whilst aggressive midfielder, and Thierry Doubai was also brought in to add strength to the middle.
It's worth noting that while they play mesmerising football and score in abundance, Guidolin’s teams are also notoriously slow starters, and the new additions to the squad will need plenty of time to adapt to their new roles - time they might not necessarily have with the Arsenal match coming so early in the new season.

Calum - please learn how to paragraph properly! Kthanks.

Anyhoo:

In the last decade or so, a fairly conservative approach in shape and strategy has turned into what’s currently referred to as ‘the modern game’ – characterised by several different aspects like strikerless formations, pivots, and so on. But Arsene Wenger has taken it one step further, sacrificing traditional wide roles for an experiment in how forwards are expected to behave.
