I agree wholly, we did well, at no point have I been worried over the past two games that we were going to concede, Mr wenger has obviously spent the time working on verm and kos' partnership and teams defensive play on the whole.

We can cope without cesc and nasri, but with vela gone for the season, bendtner expected to go. are attacking options is limited chamakh has one goal (maybe) since the end of last november. RVP has never played over half a campaign, walcott isn't getting played in his favoured position and I believe Arshavin isn't playing in his best position and gervinho is unproven in the premiership, but was hardly prolific in the french league.

Don't get me wrong, I love arsenal, always will. I go see several matches a season and have only missed watching the entire match once in the past year and a half. If for no other reason than psychologically we need to at least two players, they don't need to be marquee players I think we have them, we need proven, reliable and intimidating players. We are not viewed as a major threat and being the underdog is not the way we should be viewed

Disagree on Walcott, Gervinho and Arshavin. Walcott can go screw if he wants to be played up-front - he's not good enough to play there and did well out wide last season. If we're in desperate need of a CF in the season, we've got Joel Cambell and Benik Afobe ahead of Walcott in the pecking order. Players should be played where we need them, not where they want to play.

Arshavin isn't best behind the striker at Arsenal. He's not a play-maker.. Like Nasri, he acts as a second striker most of the time and that doesn't work in this system. I think we'll sign someone to replace Cesc if not Nasri. Don't know who, though - just a feeling.

"Gervinho wasn't prolific in Ligue 1" --> Well he was the only player to get into double-figures for both goals and assists and 15 goals is more than Nasri scored last season. Nasri got 1 assist, Gervinho got 10. Not saying he's a better player, just saying that to write him off already is silly - especially after his brilliant pre-season. His directness is very much needed in this side, but he may need a bit of time to settle in.

I agree we need a couple of signings. CB and LB are the priority at the moment because of injury issues, then we should look at AMC to replace Cesc. Fill the first two, see how much money we have left and who's available and go from there. And yes, agree we don't need a "marquee" signing - first team good enough, but squad as a whole isn't IMO.

Finally, no one's questioning your commitment as an Arsenal fan... But people disagree in life. **** happens ;)

squillaci shouldn't be allowed to wear the shirt, jenkinson would be my choice, but with sagna at left

This. All of it.

Song may get 3 match ban isn't it?

Already has done. And Gervinho ban upheld while Barton got away scot-free because the referee claimed he saw the incident with the eyes in the back of his head.

I know he is **** poor, but you dont have any options other than throwing Jenkinson..
He wasn't too bad on the left, got beat early by Isla but after that he looked quite decent at the back. Especially for someone who was only playing in the Conference 12 months ago.

There is always Traore as well. I'd prefer Jenko though.

Traore would be epic fail though. I dont rate him at all. May need Bale like transformation and start as LW.. He is **** as LB..

Quietly confident we can beat Arsenal on Saturday. Play Robinson at left back so he can stick Walcott in his back pocket again ;)

joss, i wasn't writing him off, nothing i said even suggested that. His first two games have been disappointing in comparison to pre season and he reminds me of Kanu who could play fantastically but only when he wanted to, the fact that he was top scorer with 15 shows one of two things, defences are better or the strikers in France simply aren't as good as elsewhere 15 goals and 10 assists is ok it pretty much equals walcott of last year (13 goals and 12 assists). walcott did ok last season his best yet, however he wants to play up front and was signed as a striker. If he doesn't get played where he feels he performs best we will lose him eventually.

Agree with CB either first choice like cahill or a back up like dann, vermaelen and koscielny have looked good together. Need top quality left back to play every game, like gibbs but can't maintain fitness. Think wilshere is the ideal replacement for the fabregas cover but for me another strong midfielder and striker to maintain the competition and so that injuries don't define our season as has been the case for the last x amount of years.

Yes people disagree and this is why football is so successful, be **** if everyone supported the same team.........never get a ticket. ;)

Joey Barton should've gone the FA need to look at it, if he hadn't of got involved then Gervinho couldn't have got sent off his actions directly caused another.

And we'll play Koscielny at CB so he can have Suarez in his pocket again :)

Think we can win on Saturday, but we'll have to be careful at the back and I think we need to play Wilshere. Ramsey-Rosicky in midfield just doesn't work for me.

As far as I recall, Suarez had a couple of chances to win it for us at the Emirates? Maybe I'm wrong though.
If Wilshere doesn't play, then I'd say we've got a better chance, if he does, it'll be a very interesting game.

agree ramsay and rosicky are too similar in style, which is a shame because 4 years ago i would have had rosicky as the attacker but wenger has changed his approach, wish hed start to shoot again. Ramsay and wilshere could partner for years

Nope. He had a pretty poor game.

Lots of optimism from both fans for Saturdays match, should be interesting.

I expect it to be quite open, with both sides having chances. Big players will be key for both sides IMO although I'm not convinced quality in the form of Downing, Henderson and Adam will be enough in the long-term to pinch 4th off us (Oh god - it's come to that for Arsenal)

Honestly think Henderson will be benched most of the year, only started to set a bit of a 'marker' that no one in the team's safe. I reckon Downing'll be a great signing, in the form of his life. Definitely back him up against Gibbs for Saturday. We've got a **** record against Arsenal, but this is our best chance in a long while. and of course, I back Suarez against the best defenders in the world <3 ;)

I think Downing will be up against Sagna on the left hand side of our midfield for the majority of the game, he'll just roam a lot. I'd love to see Aquilani play, reckon he could cause Arsenal's defence all sorts of problems.

You have 11 players, don't you? Then you'll cause Arsenal's defence problems. ;)

I think we will win 1-0 and keep our 3rd cleen sheet on a row :)

Bear with me before I get slammed for posting a Goal.com link, but this seems a pretty good read, don't know if I agree with it though:

With the signing of Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, Barcelona could begin the next great tactical revolution - Goal.com

Not sure I get the point of that. Does he think he's the first person to realise Barca quite like players who can pass the ball well? Their play has been centred upon midfield for a while now - like at Arsenal, all of their transfer targets are meticulously tracked over a number of games to make sure they fit the mould and can pass.

The points he makes are valid enough, just that he appears to be a little late to realise that the whole Barca team are capable of keeping the ball and more. He notes David Villa, Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal as exceptions to this rule, but to be fair - 6 assists isn't bad for a pure striker-***-wide forward like Villa in his first season - it's double what he got the season before last at Valencia. Abidal is more than capable of keeping possession too.

I'd say that Alexis Sanchez and Dani Alves - both quick, direct players who aren't overly interested in keeping possession in neat triangles are more exceptions than Abidal and Villa are.
