lol, im really sorry for posting something AGAIN , but i enjoy football manager. Now , i finished my season with Norwich, won the League,F.A Cup, Capital one Cup (How gay does that sound) and reached the quater final of the champions league. This has happened TWICE. My Chairman announces plans for Nice, big , New stadium :) , and 5 months down the line i get the council refusing planning permission, anyway around it ( didnt know the wankers could annoy me in FM as well)

I don't know the reasons for this mate, I just now it happens, sorry!

Simple question and i`m guessing a fairly basic one, i`ve played and loved the game for many years and have only just found genie, knowing a players P.A helps, my question is simply is the P.A the very best a player can ever be? For example could, with the right training someone like Wilfried Zaha at Crystal Palace become world class? Or is he always destined to be a reasonable Premier league player?? Forgive my nieavity

Hey Raikan, currently having loads of trouble with my right footed amr's in my 4-2-3-1 and 4-5-1 tactics.

I have currently been using players like Dempsey and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain at the amr, a right footed advanced playmaker style at aml and a poacher up front.

My problem is I play a short passing and slow tempo game, which means setting my right footed amr's up like a winger doesn't really pay off.

Have tried using them similar to the inside forward settings (I use classic so its all tweaked) with moves into channels, but its pretty inconsistent.

Thanks in advanced.

what do you instruct them to do mate? are they not creating chances? not scoring? not linking up play?

are you trying to rack up 100's of passes or creating chances and scoring goals?

Any recommendations on my story the rise of Baggie nation. Squad looks decent but would really appreciate your input as you have both great story writing knowledge and obscure player knowledge.

Hello again Raikan, I'm wondering how to go about making a Counter-Attacking Tactic similar to the one Valencia used in the Rafael Benitez era. With two banks of four in defense and counter attacking at speed with great precision.

you might want to try the tactic I am using with West Ham :)

its a 442 but have designed a whole new approach :) its quite coo actually, it attacks and counters like a machine!

It has a Stopper CB that pushes up to cut out/intercept balls (anchor man) with a much further back covering defender (sweeper) with a DLP that pushes up to an AMC type player and a BWM that drops to add more cover as a DM! The DLP mid also drops back on defence to assist the defenders!

It uses two big/strong strikers, not poachers, even though it can be :)

something like this!

Well I'm looking to play a 442 diamond like Valencia started off as in the final of the Champions League in 2001. So what would you recommend? The approach you seem to have is to cut out the attack as soon as possible but I'd like to try and soak up as much pressure as possible and committing as many opposing players to the attack before countering quickly with numbers.

EDIT: Ignore the attachment.

there could be a few depending on how certain players have developed:

Hamisk/Ramsey/Wilshere/Kovacic/Romulo/Poli/Vidal/Eriksen and hosts more mate..

if you want, post a SS of the top 5 you are looking at and I will give my thoughts

No need mate , i got wilshere on a free!!! I just checked end of season, and his contract was expiring , so i thought , yum yum

it allows the team to come into the half and commit, then when they try and play the ball in the final third it gets cut out (most of the time) then the ball gets played to the DLP who then launches a counter attack!

for you:

just play deep, play quick/wide/counter/rigid

clear ball to flanks/get ball forward/play wider shouts!

have a dlp at least play direct balls to help launch the counter...

maybe two DLP's in the DM slots if playing 442

The problem is I can't get them to score or create chances lol

The aml is pretty much an assist machine and his role is pretty much to pick up the ball between the half way line and opponents penalty box, cut inside and pick the killer pass.

So I would like my right footed amr to be a threat closer to goal, so the team doesn't have to rely on just the poachers goals (as if they shut him down I can struggle to score)

However when I give them a higher mentality or run from deep set to often then they can get starved of the ball, when I play them deeper they are not in a position to be a threat to the oppositions goal.

I normally use move into channels for them as I don't want them cutting inside onto their weaker foot or just running down the touchline to get crosses in as I play a slow tempo normally with a small, fast poacher.

However if you had a suggestion on how to make them into another assist machine I wouldn't complain lol

Thanks again

it sounds like the Cm closer to him (Cml) is set more defensively am I right? maybe make the settings of the Cmr the same as the Cml's or make the Cml's passing more direct to help him get the ball up the to AML quicker and faster..

get what I mean?

Do you mean get the ball to the Amr quicker and faster?

I don't want to change my Aml as I have a set tactic that I use for a right footed aml that helps get my assists.

At the moment my cmr is my midfield playmaker and my Cml is my passer who keeps play moving.

The main problem with my right footed Amr is that I can't get him into the play, keep him deep and he has too much to do to get into a scoring position, play him high and he gets isolated.

I might try using what you said and make my Cmr more direct passing.

Sorry for my posts being hard to read, just read back my own post and wasn't sure what I was trying to say lol

I mean get the player closer to the player that you want to change the exact same settings as the side that your player is doing well!

yes, make him pass more directly.. as the gap seems to far and the passing settings are not direct enough to get that player in the game properly

I need some good central defenders for Norwich, preferably young but doesn't have to be teenagers. Xulu I can't get a work permit for.

I am really struggling where to play this chap:

I don't play a DMC so although that is where he is natural, I wouldn't play him there. I am really in between whether to play him as a Ball winning midfielder or a ball playing defender. Think his jumping may be s bit low for a centre back though.
