In which case, Mata is ******. There is actually very little wrong with how Mata plays, he is who he is. If Jose thinks he doesnt fit the system, then fair enough. But then he should have sold him in the summer.

Jose is actually gambling on making Mata look like he is at fault if he doesn't adapt, and then people will say, "well Mata was great, but he didn't adapt to Jose's way" and and Mourinho will come off looking better for it.

I'm glad that it's not just me who thinks that this could be the case. There was no way Jose could sell Mata in the summer, especially not when he's not popular with the fans and Abramovich. So instead he spends the year undermining him and sowing doubts, so when we flog him next summer, people will say: "well he was good but he didn't adapt, and we got a solid price for him."

I really hope that isn't the case, as it would basically be selfless, model professional who puts team first sold to indulge megalomaniacal egomaniac who wants to do things his way. I'm hoping that isn't the Jose that we've got back but if it is... Eurgh.

I'm beginning to think you don't need a tinfoil hat so much as a full on cast-iron helmet.

Jose probably isn't above such wild conspiracy theories, but it doesn't make them likely.

Oscar has a lot more energy to him.

Why is he not creative enough? You're making him sound like Ramires or Dembele when he's not that type of player. Did you see some of the passes he made last year, some of the spontaneous moments of magic he pulled out of nowhere. He is definitely a fantastic playmaker.

Again it's all about the situation. Oscar works vs certain team, Mata works vs others.

Personally I'd like to see Mata as the 10 and Oscar in the pivot vs teams that sit back. I am partly agreeing with you here, because I think he does have the potential to play deep but that doesn't mean that it's always the best place to play him, or that he isn't also capable of playing as a 10.

TMI! XD

Lukaku also looked immense for Everton today, don't know if anyone else caught that game.

He has lot more energy. Yes, thats part of his work rate, his defensive contribution.
Oscars can be creative, but his playmaking skills are not good enough, or should I say they are inconsistent. About Mata working against some teams, and Oscar against others, I agree with you 100%. Mata is not good defensively, at least not good as Oscar is. Thus Mou favorites him, which makes perfect sense to me.

Based on what? Just because he doesn't have as much as Mata doesn't mean he doesn't have enough. If you want to crack a nut, using a nutcracker isn't a bad idea just because you also have a tank lying around.

Assists, key passes, touches on the ball. Check them.

All of you critics should go see Mourinho's post-match interview after Fulham with sky. Extremely informative

Its kind of hard to avoid playing Spanish players when you're managing Spanish team...especially when half of them are World Cup winners.

Casillas-Gate will tell you all you need to know about Jose's attitude towards Spain.

So what is Ancelotti's reason for dropping Casillas then? Hatred towards the Spanish?

I saw the post game set he did and although him literally smacking Jamie Redknapp was fun, the criticisms all still stand. We had already guessed why he might be doing what he is is, the question is whether or not that's the right thing to do.

Carlo is using them both, technically speaking. Iker was supposed to be playing in Champions League, possibly also spanish cup games, its just that he got injured.

But I was more refering to how the whole thing started...ie Casillas reaching out to Barca players to try and stop El Clasico from going nuclear and effecting national team.

Jose did and should not have any interest in the Spanish national side and its Del Bosque's job to sort the Spanish players out. Casillas crossed the line and Jose took the slack for it.

So it was Pellegrini out first, then Moyes out, then Jose out and then probably back to Moyes this week in the papers.

every club in the league would gladly take Mata off your hands if yis dont want him. go mourinho put him on transfer list please!

Name am alternative who could have played

Khedira Alonso Modric trio. He said Ozil was the best #10 who did very little to no defensive work at all. Like I said he could have signed any player in the world who worked hard and was not as creative as Ozil but he didn't.
