Finally home from the game and what was my first Champions League game since Zilina in 2003 i very much enjoyed it......mainly!
The only complaint i had was that because i had to buy tickets late i could only get them in the family stand and that was an experience i won't be going back for. Not only was there 0 atmosphere because i was sat next to the Schalke fans any chants by our fans elsewhere in the ground was drowned out. I mean kudos to their support it was fantastic but the 2 guys at the front instigating it must have watched around 3 minutes of football in total! Who pays that money to watch your fellow supporters for 87 minutes of the game? Also not forgetting they were stood on the wall in front of the seats for the whole game, i wonder if the stewards would have let our fans do that?
On the game i felt we started very slowly and got the lucky breakthrough but from that minute i felt we were always in control. Cahill, JT and Azpi played very well but for me the 3 who really did stand out were Willian, Eto'o and Mikel. Willian was absolutely everywhere, Eto'o did not stop working and Mikel dictated the tempo of the game. Happy for Ba to get a goal, as unfavoured as he is when he plays he does work very hard.
Good win for us tonight and i'll finish on a Tweet from our 2 goal STRIKER (thought we didn't have one who could score goals). "It's like how to ride a bicycle, it can never been forgotten" 1, 2.
