I think Rooney under Mourinho could be easily be a striker that wins us everything. However, he is vastly inflated wages and his fitness issues are a huge concern. If Ferguson couldn't get him off the booze and the **** I'm not sure anyone can, which isn't good when we're trading him for a model professional who is 3 years younger.

I don't think it's that bad. We haven't been using him well all season anyway, and we've been doing well. If we sell him, we're surely going to sign a big striker as well, so I doubt United will represent much of a threat to us (this season).
It will still be incredibly stupid though. Knowing us, we'll likely then sell Hazard to PSG and use that money +Courtois to buy Costa from Atletico.

It isn't so much about the title as it is about strengthening a rival though. Just when United, a team who have dominated the EPL for the past decade have finally entered their downward trajectory, Chelsea attempt to gallantly help them out by giving them a world-class player and significantly derail their own title challenge at the same time
