Er no it doesn't seem like good business to let him walk into Chelsea. He's definitely got 5 years in him... oh thats how long the contract is.

Highly doubt Chelsea will want him when is 30 when you factor in the wages as well. Especially after our new policy of offering only one year contracts to players above 30. No, he would have to go abroad if his contract is allowed to run down

Except we were willing to match his wages in the summer and by all accounts, he was willing to move. I don't really think Rooney would have passed up the opportunity to move if he had it simply because Chelsea refused to pay him a bit more when he is on such high wages already. His reasons for wanting to move after all were not financial ..

You can say that about any football fan. Haven't Pool fans forgotten all about Suarez' antics in the summer after his blistering form? Its hardly like this trait is exclusive to Chelsea fans. Him scoring goals doesn't change the fact that 300k p/w would be horrendous for us in terms of FFP. Not for United but for Chelsea

His wage are already 250k. You are lying to yourself if you think he wouldn't have asked for more. Derfinitely havent been paying attention to Paul Stretford.

Or, considering we couldnt get the alternatives ( Lewandowski) Hold on to him, strengthen our bargaining position, make him happier and get on with much bigger issues ahead.

When did you think you were going to get him? This summer?

Perhaps ... Depends on the length of contract we were willing to offer him I suppose. Although I don't see why he would reject a move purely because we are not ready to pay him a measly extra 50k p/w. He would have to have the mind set of a ******* greedy pig to do that

Still another season and half to go before the contract runs down. Right now there might be a dearth of top-class striking talent in the market but it's not going to remain the same throughout. Someone would eventually have popped up ... I never thought we were going to get him once Mata's deal to United was announced in pure cash terms

RVP up front with narrow trio of Rooney, Mata and Januzaj or Kagawa behind him. Nani can play behind striker, Valencia plays if for Ecuador and Young played there for A. Villa.

Not sure he played football behind the striker or just had a casual wank. He had about the same effectiveness either way.

Yes, welcome to the mind of Paul Stretford.

So United let the contract of one of they best players run down, in the hope that someone just as good pops up? Jesus...

Would you call his performances this season as that of someone who has been as much use as a chocolate fire guard? Fact is that Rooney is the type to give his best on the pitch whenever he plays ... Running down his contract seems better than paying him 300k p/w until he is 33

I didn't say he was a chocolate fireguard last year. I said he is when he sulks, which he did last season, where we had to endure the performance of someone playing with all the enthusiasm of a man forced shopping with his girlfriend, while it appeared someone had decided to vaseline his boots because it took 3 touches to even get the ball to stay somewhat close to him.

Paying him a contract that takes him right through his prime. Oh no. The horror. What idiots we are.

Also if its such a measly 50k a week extra, why are you saying its too much?

There are players out there already. Cavani is unsettle at PSG. Diego Costa will likely move in the summer. Balotelli as well. Falcao may move as well. Their is no telling what new players next season might bring out. With you deep pockets, you can easily allow Rooney's contract to run down and no get forced into another embarrassing situation by Stretford and replace him with a top class striker

If you made a chocolate fireguard as thick as Wayne Rooney it'd probably be pretty effective tbf.

EDIT: Can you douse flames with liquid chocolate? Perhaps if you melted Choc Rooney onto a fire he could be useful...

EDIT2: Brb melting chocolate onto fire. This seems like a good idea after two days awake.

Depends on the length of the contact we are offering him. Could prove to be a hefty sum over 5 years which we can ill-afford as Chelsea are just about toeing the line in regards to FFP. Also I was under the impression that he was on 225k p/w when I made the initial claim that I wouldn't want him on 300k p/w for over 5 years

Or with deep pockets we can hang on to what we have...

Right I dont want any of those players, with the possible exception of Costa. You think they wont ask for crazy money too?

No ... You are being idiots for caving into his demands for the third time. There are already suggestions that players are unhappy because Moyes seems to give special attention to Rooney. This new contract certainly will not help that. With the purchase of Mata, this is an ideal opportunity for you lot to take a stand against Stretford and tell him to either accept a new contact with current wages or **** off after 2 years when he is 30 and no new club will pay him that kind of money

It isn't about whether United can afford the contract or not. They certainly can. It is not about whether Rooney's ability will match his wages throughout the length of the contract. It will to a certain extent. It's about finally taking a stand and not caving into his demands at every opportunity he gets to blackmail you lot

You have a ready replacement in Mata. Deep enough pockets to chase a player of comparable ability as well

Apart from the fact the players are quite public about wanting Rooney to stay. What a totally bullshit approach. That only works when you can replace the player. We already tried with Lewandowski. This contract buys the club time, and value on the market. I'd take pragmatism over ridiculous hopeful stands anyway. Which is exactly why Jose sold Mata.

If that makes us look like idiots in your eyes, I'll take that and enjoy Mata and Rooney.

Chocolate does in fact put out fire.

Just thought you'd all appreciate the knowledge.

When was this. I missed it maybe.
