i dont want luiz to depart he and matic have been our best defensive mid pairing this season according to me

In the big games yeah i'd agree with that, but if Barca are willing to pay 30mill+ for him then we have to consider it for sure.

So we would be petty just because they didn't sell us one of their players? You also have to take into count Rooney is Man Utd's best player by a mile, by the time we sold Mata he was 5th choice attacking midfielder.

But you seem to keep forgetting it isn't about THIS season its about after this season. He has been given 3 transfers windows to mold the side he wants and the striker situation will be sorted this summer. And that striker from Russia has nearly scored 10 goals this season 3 of which coming against Utd!

Everyone thought Willian was a luxury buy and someone we got just so Spurs couldn't (although he has been a club target for over a year now) but how wrong has that proved to be? I said a long time ago that as quality as Mata is he himself is a luxury player. You can't say we didn't need Willian when not months down the line he is one of the first names on the team sheet.

You also seem to looking at this Mata transfer the totally wrong way, we have/will strengthen in areas we need to instead of having him. We are and will be a better squad without him 100%.

Atletico only wanted Mata on loan, 37million for a player who was 5th choice attacking mid and never going to fit into this system HAS to be taken. No club in world football would have turned down that offer.

On Malouda its a totally different situation, he signed a long term contract and kept refusing to leave the club. Clubs came in for him, bids were accepted (one from Santos) and he rejected to take a pay drop.

But we couldn't no club in the world would have paid the money Utd did, it was a personal decision of Mata and also one which suited the club financially too. So just because its a divisional rival we should just say "**** what this human being wants who cares about his feelings". We all know how much he loves this country if you read his blogs etc etc, he wanted to stay.

1. Ability-wise they are the same though ... Of course Rooney is far more important to his team than Mata was to us but I still don't see why we should sell a genuinely world-class player to a direct rival if we can avoid it which we could

2. Just because this is a transitional season doesn't mean the way we spent so much time going after a player we could never hope to get is any less excusable. 10 goals from a striker who is considered first-choice for a EPL challenging team is a rather meager return

3. Again I have no problem that we sold Mata. I just don't see why we had to sell him to United

4. I would gladly take a few million less and shop him out overseas. As I said, there are always takers for someone like Mata. Loan him to Atletico for 6 months where he will likely do well. Shop him out to foreign teams in the summer and spend the rest of the season watching United self-destruct by mucking up another transfer window

5. And strangely we did the exact '**** you, who cares about your feelings' to Malouda

The fact that a central defender is one of our best options in the pivot speaks volumes about the quality of our central midfield. An area that surely can't be ignored in the summer as well

Holy ****, I thought it was my job to fill this thread with walls of text no one will ever actually read?

1. Maybe in the last 2 seasons Chelsea yeah, Mata was not as important to us this season as he has been and that's because of the change of system. Its not his fault its not Jose's fault its no-ones, he just does not and will never suit playing this way and if we are to keep Jose long term then its best all round if he went. Rooney on the other hand is still important to Utd and if he went then they could be below Fulham lol.

2. Thing is we have no prominent striker so you have to add the 3 strikers goals together to make it fair and when you do that its not too bad a return. Jose has said for quite some time now that the striker issue will be sorted in the summer.

3. Because money and player happiness is paramount surely?

4. But that's not what the player wanted lol. He wanted to stay in England and he has been a sensational servant for us so why should we deny him a move he wants just to suit us? If anything i think it showed class from the club and i don't say that often about the way Chelsea operate. We could have easily gone down the "well you didn't sell us Rooney so why should we sell you Mata route" but morally that would have been wrong and petty.

5. Not really because bids were accepted for Malouda so its a totally different situation. He's gripe was being placed in the reserves which was wrong but we also done the same with Alex and Anelka all them years ago, very badly managed. But Malouda was given this contract so i don't blame him for seeing it out, but as i said bids were accepted but he turned them down. Mata pushed for the move.

Very productive evening for Chelsea strikers today. Eto'o scored a goal and won a penalty, Ba scored a brace, but it was Torres that made it all possible by getting himself injured while warming up.

Thats what I'm talking about. Torres wouldn't have got involved in any of those goals.

Gifted three goals by absolute shocking defending and a dive for the pen.
4-0 is flattering but I can't complain, makes top four that bit easier to keep.

That's why I love Eto'o. Guy is a real predator whenever he plays. Great replacement for Drogba as our man for the big games. Hazard was excellent as usual. Matic put in another solid performance. Great to see Ba getting himself 2 goals as well. All in all, a fantastic win and onus on City now to catch up

Think Top 4 is more or less secured unless something really catastrophic happens. You would expect City to cement their place soon as well considering the quality of their squad. Arsenals challenge will be an interesting one when you consider the run of games ahead of them

Fight for the title is between Chelsea and City for me, I expect Chelsea to win it. Arsenal are in for a tough run of games, if we can get a bit of a gap on them we could hold out for third, don't see us getting close enough to City or Chelsea unless we get some results going massively in our favor.

Will be a very close run thing to say the least. Can never count Liverpool out as well especially once you consider that both City and Chelsea have yet to visit Anfield
