The article says that Lukaku was dismayed that he would be behind 3 strikers in the pecking order and that's why he asked for a transfer request however, this is something which will not be the case next season. I highly doubt he made a transfer request anyways as he has come out at times this season to say that he never had a problem with Mourinho or Chelsea

Lukaku asked to go on loan because he wasn't confident of competing with the likes of Torres, Ba and Eto'o for minutes. Jose actually wanted him to stay. That's why Jose was annoyed when everyone was on his back for letting Lukaku go on loan. Fact is that Jose had very little choice in the matter as Lukaku was persistent and it was a WC year

Btw, you really need to remember what you post, at least when it was just 2 hours back.

I was merely repeating what the article said. You need to read more carefully

Fair enough..

Also re transfer request..

Romelu Lukaku made a transfer request at Chelsea before being granted a temporary move to Everton.
It is understood the 20-year-old Belgium striker asked to move following the European Super Cup shoot-out defeat to Bayern Munich in Prague at the end of August, when he missed the decisive penalty for Jose Mourinho's side.
Lukaku did not believe he could compete for a regular starting place for the lone striker's role after the arrival of Samuel Eto'o to join Fernando Torres and Demba Ba.
His request was immediately rejected and a loan with Everton negotiated on September 2, transfer deadline day, with his season-long switch ending the prospect of Ba leaving Stamford Bridge on loan.

So Sky and Guardian reported it, not sure whether there are more reputed sites/paper than these 2 in UK.

And what I am saying that you seem to ignore constantly is that in all likelihood, Lukaku will play regularly next season. All signs have been pointing towards that. Jose wants to completely revamp his strikers. One world-class striker will be brought in. Lukaku will be recalled. Simply saying that their is no guarentee that Jose will play Lukaku simply isn't good enough when Jose actually wanted him to stay this season and Lukaku has only improved since then

The reason why he went on loan was because Lukaku wasn't confident of competing with Eto'o and Torres. No player should expect starts. They have to prove themselves in training and then they will get the opportunities. De Bruyne clearly didn't prove himself in training. Azpilicueta did and look at him now ... Keeping Cole out of the team. Obviously that proves that reputation doesn't matter squat to Jose, it's all about ability and I am sure Lukaku would have been able to keep Eto'o, Torres and Ba out of the team considering the way he is playing at Everton

So using what you yourself said ... Lukaku will get enough games at Chelsea and he will learn plenty off the pitch too from a manager much better than Martinez who is in another league when it comes to player development

Where to start? I didn't ignore it. My point is that right now its up in the air. Which is why you cant say will, no matter how much you insist on it. It is good enough, because its exactly what happened this season for him to go on loan.It not about expecting sarts, but knowing you will have the opportunity to compete. Azpili only had Brana to compete with for the RB, and a waning Cole for the LB. His development was also way ahead of Lukaku as a person. Lukaku had to compete with 3 other forwards for the long FC spot. It's so much better for a young player to go on loan to somewhere like Everton than stick around for that. That's something that's not really up for debate, as there is an overwhelming about of evidence for this, as we can cite all the youth studies, and experiences of young players aged 18-21 And for the second time, do tell me I've said things when I haven't. And you cant say will, because right now NO ONE knows what will happen with the forwards. That's what you haven't grasped.

Who put it in the guardian? Can also check times, but that is behind the paywall.

Dominic fifield. Not a clue who he is.

Btw it was reported by Independent also, so inshort all major papers.

Fifield is very good on Chelsea. Always seems to know what's going on there before others.

Hazard it seems will be out for 2 weeks. I think we should be able to cope without him as salah looked good the weekend and Schurrle should be buzzing now after last night.

Looked he could do with a rest anyway.

Yes but this season he had 3 strikers to compete with. Next season he will probably only have one striker who will still have to adjust to the EPL and who even if he hits the ground running, cannot possibly play 50 games in one season. Mourinho wanted him to stay this season and his ability has improved tremendously since then so I can't see why Mourinho will not want him next season. Of course Jose often says one thing and does the other so let's see ... But imo I think if assured of significant game time and a fair opportunity, we will see Lukaku in a Chelsea shirt next season

Yes, this is what I've said from the start. It's up in the air. What happens with Lukaku depends on what happens with the strikers, hence him considering a move to Everton IF they got top 4, because he'd be playing regularly against elite players. Lukaku is one of those rare young players who sees game time right now as more important than being at the biggest club. Chelsea should make sure he is the 2nd striker next season. But there is no guarantee of this, hence my original statement. he was certainly strongly considering leaving before Christmas, perhaps things have changed in the meantime, which can only be a good thing since (not speaking to him for two months is a sure way to disillusion a player)

He (Lukaku) seems to produce a lot more than Torres at the moment, though Torres' problem is his contract disuades anyone else from moving for him. Assuming Eto'o signs a one-year contract again as a backup player, I can see a truly top class striker coming in and a good DM, with Luiz and Ba heading the other way. Quite scary for other sides, really.

Doubt Luiz will move tbh. Mourinho was absolutely fawning over him after today's performance. I can see Mikel leaving for sure along with Lampard. Luiz will probably start rotating a lot more between DM and CB next season with Zouma coming in to shore up CB depth. Can see another CM coming in as well along with a striker

Hmm, the closest I can think of would be Pepe. Limited but useful. I was thinking Mourinho would like more of a genuinely top class Makelele type, but perhaps Luiz's powerful physique will help fill that gap. Good rotation player to have. Anyone genuinely good on loan who could fill that gap?

Could also be a ploy for holding out on a bigger transfer fee. If Luiz performs well in Brazil, it will only boost the fee. Can't see Luiz holding out for a rotational role, if he could get a better offer elsewhere at a big club.

On another note, yeah, most likely Torres won't be moving on a transfer next season. No club will be willing to pay his wages for his level of quality atm. It'll likely be a loan, with part wages paid by Chelsea.

Nope. Chalobah's development has stunted and McEachran is still a long way off. Van Ginkel will probably fill part of the gap although Chelsea can still do with another CM

No easy games at the semi-finals. I would have loved Barcelona because they always struggle against us but now don't really have a preference tbh ... Probably Atletico. Definitely not Bayern

**** the league. We are 180 minutes from a CL final and our destiny is in our own hands ... Screw the league and let's focus on the big one
