Costa might suck in the English game, its been known to happen. Least Lukaku is a proven goal scorer, at this level, in this league.
Exactly, and at a club with poorer players. That could be of benefit to him, as he gets the ball more and can be more selfish/less defensive-minded too, but it also means the service he gets isn't as good.

I never said he was the finished article but he is getting better each season playing first team football in the Premier League and out-scoring most strikers in the league the past two seasons

You said he was too good to sit on the bench though. Honestly, he's not that good; he needs time and training to develop, as well as playing time. There's no where better for him to get that than at Chelsea.

He will return to Chelsea, be 2nd or maybe even 3rd choice and play in hardly any of the big games unless there are injuries... At 21 he needs significant playing time to improve and he wont get that at Chelsea

If he proves he can handle the big games and Costa does not, he may way start some of them. He needs to earn his place first though. I'd agree that he needs playing time, but I think we will give him that.

Easy to see why he wants regular football

If he stays he will be 2nd choice no doubt about that one.

Like the last two season?

Say what you like about him but he's only doing what's best for his career. Two seasons ago I can understand why he was loaned out, he did brilliant at Albion and honestly should have been at Chelsea this season. He's proven himself yet again this season and now with Costa coming in and Torres/Ba unlikely to be shipped out easily he's unlikely to start half the games he did at Everton and Albion.

This. He's 21, performed great for 2 PL teams now, and he has outperformed all Chelsea strikers, second season in a row. What else does a guy have to do, in order to prove himself? Blast off into the sky and shoot lazers out of his eyes?

He's got every right to be ****** off. He keeps being shipped off like bag of sand season after season, and adding insult to injury, he then has to watch Mourinho moan for a year about lack of strikers.

Frankly, Chelsea's current policy to buy a lot of young talent is absolutely brilliant from business point of view, but it also has a high risk of alienating the players. You can hardly expect the guy to have some sort of loyalty to the club if you never give him a proper chance.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. What does Lukaku expect? That he just comes back and we hand him a starting role. If he wants to start for a major club like Chelsea, he needs to prove that he is better than world-class players like Costa and Mourinho will give him the opportunity to do that like he did last season. If he proves he is better, he will start ahead of more illustrious names. Look at Azpilicueta

But right now all he seems to be doing is moan and rant. In that case, he can **** off. I am sure loads of mid-table clubs are lining up to hand him a starting role. He just won't get a starting role at a major club until he is willing to compete and beat other star players

If Lukaku leaves, I would love to see us get Balotelli or Manzdukic (sp) ... I still think we will be one midfielder short even if get Fabregas which hopefully will be wrapped up once Barcelona get Koke/Rakitic. I am still unconvinced by Luis, I would prefer a more long-term signing like Shaw

The comparison to Azpilicueta really doesnt stack up. He has only one play to compete with in each position, and one of them was a player who is fading. Lukaku has Torres. Ba and now a prime and in form Costa. Makes little sense, as he's established himself now, though still learning. As for ***** and moan. Hardly. Pointed it out one last season, one the season before. This silly notion that he needs to force himself past world class players is why Chelsea are largely awful at youth/ young development. You've got to want to bring these players though, risk and give them the chance.

No one is suggesting that he needs to eclipse Costa to get a run in the team. What we are saying is that he needs to come back and fight for his place. Expecting us to simply bring him back and give him serious game time because he has done well for Everton and West Brom is insane. It's also not what the player himself is saying: if you read what French journalists have been saying, the English press has completely mistranslated his words into something controversial.

If he's playing as our 2nd striker, he will get a lot of games and will continue to develop. Schurrle came to us at 22 and has been happy to fight for his place in the team. Has his development stalled because he came to Chelsea? I certainly wouldn't say so, and neither would he:

I feel much stronger and much more confident in the way I play. I hope I can show that in the national team. Playing at Chelsea has helped me a lot.

I am genuinely baffled by what people want us to do here. Is anyone really suggesting that Lukaku should be coming back and playing as Chelsea's no.1 striker?

No, you don't need to promise him that he'll be the first choice, just that he'll get big minutes and will get to start some fairly important matches. Basically, he needs to know that he won't be behind Torres, Ba or Eto'o, which is fair enough because he's a much better player than those three (at the moment).

Which I'm confident is what he will get. We would be insane not to play him in the domestic cups, in some of the big games and against a lot of teams.

But IS he the second striker? It's a question that hasnt been answered, and the arguably one that plays on his mind the most. He needs to be playing regularly, if thats not at Chelsea then he is better off somewhere else. You'd be insane to do/not do a lot of things, but Chelsea have a habit of doing/not doing them anyway. I pointed this out about what he said last Christmas in regars to development, playing time and communication with the club, and some tried to dismiss it. But here we are. Chelsea are under no obligation to play him, but in doing so should accept that he might decide to cut ties.

There's not a right/correct order Mike. Everybody is fighting for that position. If this week Lukaku is in a better condition/form than other 3, then he will start. If next week Lukaku is in a ******* horrendous form, he isn't in the group. I mean, what's so scandalous about that? This is a big club and club that fights for trophies week in week out, you can't promise Lukaku -- or anyone else for that matter -- anything. Whoever plays/trains better he will start next. Plus, let's not forget that Jose likes to play a certain type of a striker depending on what the game is. So again, there isn't a right order. I'm guessing Ba will get the least of game time next season though.

If Lukaku wants to be huge one day, he needs to learn to fight for his place. Seriously, everyone should.

He also needs to be developed as a 21 year old. Players need to know they are in with a chance. **** we have the same issue with Welbeck right now. It's not like Jose has filled him with confidence that he is in with a chance

I don't understand how you can even attempt to make a comparision to Azpilicueta. In his first year in the club he was already a starter and best RB in the team under Benitez. Jose took over, benched him for no reason, only to 'rediscover his talent' half a year later, and he instantly dominated from his first game. He was probably only benched because he is spanish or whatever.

Lukaku has been waiting 3 years for a shot.

All these fabregas rumours are boring me now. We've apparently agreed a deal to sign him around 780 times and he has completed 1500 medicals

Stop reading twitter **** man.

Every time I see a tweet about that I'm like:

Pretty sure Mourinho has considering he wanted to retain Lukaku last summer and give him an opportunity and it was Lukaku who forced through a loan

Except Ivanovic is better suited to play RB under Jose's system which was why Azpi was benched. Nonetheless, he trained hard and grabbed his opportunity when it came and Jose had no qualms dropping a more illustrious name such as Ashley Cole to play Azpilicueta out of position

Which can work for Lukaku as well. If he works hard and grabs his opportunity then Mourinho will have no qualms dropping Costa/Torres/Ba who are more illustrious names. Right now people literally except us to hand Lukaku the No.1 spot going by the criticism. Baffling

Look at Torres' comments recently. That guy is up for the challenge of competing with Costa for minutes because he knows that it will make him work harder and become a better player. Lukaku would do well to learn from him. For a guy who has won absolutely nothing of significance, Lukaku sure loves to shoot his trap off

Saw this comment on WAGHN-

A guy who cannot score double digits in the league is up for the challenge of competing with Costa. The guy who actually has a chance of displacing Costa is whining
