Lampards image at Chelsea will not be tarnished at all by any real fans. All the fans having ***** fits about it on twitter are glory hunting ***** from the other side of the world who I doubt even supported the club when lamps was in his prime.

I still think it was wiser to choose someone like QPR if he wanted to stay in the Premier League, would of got much more game time as well.

City already basically paying his wages so he's gone there to get his fitness up, helps with the English/Homegrown quota and offers cover for their CM position. It's a deal that makes sense.

QPR would be worse for Chelsea fans tbh. A lot of their support is obsessed with Chelsea and wouldn't shut up about it for the whole six months.

I very much doubt it will tarnish him in Chelsea fans' eyes. As far as I've seen, most of the annoyance is aimed at the club. and he has requested not to play Chelsea

Probably not for the majority but I still question why he chose them, I know what City are getting out of it but not really what he is other than fitness which he could of maintained at any other club where he would of got more game time anyway.

Because New York and City are linked clubs, and he gets to stay in England a while longer with his kids.

Agree with this. I wonder why he agreed to go on loan to City when he could have chosen a plethora of other options that wouldn't be so controversial. He said that the reason he went to the MLS was because he couldn't fathom playing for another EPL club ... I didn't have Frank Lampard down as a liar

I am pretty sure if staying in England was his driving force then he could have chosen West Ham or QPR who would probably have him on loan ... That way he wouldn't be strengthening our direct title rival as well

Neither of them a) offer the level of quality of City and b) are Linked to New York. And they are both more hated than City, not a chance in ****.

Chelsea release a player, and then expect him not to make the best decisions for himself? Odd

What quality are we talking about here though? If his primary aim is simply maintaining fitness and spending time with his kids then he can do that at any EPL club with decent facilities ... He doesn't have to be training with world class players for that

Also personally speaking, I rather see him in a QPR or West Ham shirt ... At least that way, he isn't strengthening our direct title rivals

Not expecting him to do anything. It was he who said that he left for the MLS because he couldn't fathom playing for another EPL club ... Now he goes and joins our direct rivals despite probably having other options if he wanted them. I am just holding him to the standards that he imposed upon himself

You underestimate the difference in facilities then. City have some of the best in the world. But why should he not train with elite players, just to appease Chelsea fans, are you guys really that fragile about it?

And if you didnt want to see him play for someone like City, probably shouldn't have released him

Pretty sure Chelsea would have welcomed him back with open arms if he wanted a great place to train. That way he could even stay in London and remain with his kids. It really all boils down to keeping his new employers happy and ensuring the $$$ keep rolling in. Not that I am blaming him for doing so of course

I am well aware that Frank has every right to do what he wants ... I am just sorely disappointed that he said one thing and did the exact opposite because I thought he was better than that

Pretty sure you didnt want to pay his wages. He would have taken 50% cut, which you rejected, so you wouldnt have welcomed him back. City are going to pay him well, train him well, he will market well for his new club. Like I said the key here was the facilities and link with New York City.

double standards here? you stop being loyal to a player and expect him to put himself out the way for you?

How did Chelsea stop being loyal to Frank? Because they refused to pay him superstar wages despite the fact that he was a shadow of the player he once was? Don't be silly ... In fact, Roman even told him that he can come back to the club in any capacity he wishes whenever he wants. Ambassador, Academt Coach etc.

This is the first time I am hearing about him willing to take a 50% cut. Do you have a source? I am pretty sure Chelsea would have loved to take him back on loan

As I mentioned above, the key here was keeping his new employers happy which you sort of imply when you say that he will 'market well for his new club'. In terms of payment, wouldn't NYFC be paying his wages even if he goes on loan?

And again, I only expected Frank to go out his way for Chelsea because he himself said he wouldn't play for another EPL club. I am only holding him to his own words and standards

Why are there pages of arguments about Lampard taking a fitness loan to his new team's sister club? FFS, who cares?

You released him. There ended your loyalty to him. Unless you are secretly paying him his wages? No, didnt think so.
It's easy for him to come back as an ambassador, because you arent paying him 150k a week. Kinda irrelevant.

The source? Frank Lampard future: Chelsea want Lampard to take pay-cut as talks hit reported stumbling block with midfielder out of contract this summer - Premier League - Football - The Independent The Chelsea researcher at SI confirmed it was 50% (he's about as well linked as anyone could be in all seriousness, which is why chelsea wages tend to be pretty accurate in game)

You say he isnt good enough, then complain he'd strengthening a rival, you cant have hit both ways.

He's there for 6 months, he wont even play against Chelsea. What more do you want?
