Next fixture Schalke 04 (H) on 17/09/14 @19:45 on SkySports.

Our last result at the Bridge vs Schalke 04, 06/11/2013: Chelsea (Eto'o x2, Ba) 3-0 Schalke 04.

The only other result at the Bridge vs Schalke 04, 24/10/07: Chelsea (Drogba, Malouda) 2-0 Schalke 04.

The last German side other than Schalke's result at the Bridge. 13/09/2011: Chelsea (Luiz, Mata) 2-0 Bayer Leverkusen.

Our record at the Bridge vs Schalke 04 (all comps): Played-2, Won-2, Drawn-0, Lost-0, For-5, Against-0.

Our record vs German sides (all comps, home, away and neutral): Played-19, Won-10, Drawn-5, Lost-4, For-30, Against-15. (Games vs 1860 Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Hertha Berlin, Schalke 04, VFB Stuttgart and Werder Bremen.

My stat of the game: Chelsea have never lost a home game against any German opposition in all competitions winning 7 and drawing 1.

Chelsea are yet to concede a goal against Schalke in the 4 times we have met (home and away) but have scored 8 in return.

Newspapers here in Romania report that Chelsea bought 17y old defender Cristi Manea from Viitorul Constanta. He made his debut for the national team not long ago, becoming the youngest player to represent the country at 16 and 10 months. Transfer to be completed in the winter window.

Youth players are always hit and miss but representing your country at 16 is still indication of a strong talent. What do you think of him mate?

The kid can be very good, but as you said, he can be a hit or a miss. It all depends on him. He is a RB/CB, who was also wanted by the likes of Ajax, Inter, Udinese. He is working under Gheorghe Hagi (greatest product of this country in terms of football), so hopefully he can give him some insight on how it is to perform at the top level. If he doesn't get carried away (he will be supposedly on a 20k Euro/month wage), he will either be a top defender, or we will cash in on him for a considerable sum (He costed 2.5M Euro).
Time will tell.

I'm disgusted. We should never be 1-0 up. Why do referees have to be this bad recently? It's ******* disgrace.

We had some bad luck too, but sum it all up, and you end up with a rather poor performance.
Both games finished 1-1, so it's like this day never happened.

Not good enough for a CL tie at the bridge. Baffled why Drogba started over Remy.

Some Chelsea fans really **** me off on social media! If twitter is anything to go by Didier drogba is no longer a legend and Chelsea have no hope of winning the league or CL cause of one 1-1 draw against schalke! **** me I wish all the plastic ***** would **** off away from our club. We lost our first group game last season and the other game ended 1-1 too so it's not all doom and gloom is it.

Drogba looked horribly rusty. He really shouldn't be starting an important CL tie such as this especially after struggling with an ankle injury. Not the best of games. We looked the superior side but missed a few chances that could have put this game to bed

Was working tonight so only just seen the highlight and must say i think its a poor result but its not the end of the world. Lets remember we lost our opening game last season against a worst opponent than tonight so every cloud.
I can't really slate Jose for leaving Costa out as we do not want this potential hamstring problem to flare up and leave us without him for a couple of months but i think Jose started Drogba for the sentimental value more than ability. I have nothing against Didi playing for us again but i felt we needed to win tonight and for me Drogba is 3rd choice so i would have started Remy if Costa needed a rest.

Aside from all that my analysis is all on one man, our #4 Cesc Fabregas. I had untold amounts of pleasure telling the 2 Arsenal fans at work tonight that Cesc just got his 1st goal for us and what a nice goal it was with him winning the ball back (illegally) with a strong challenge. But their is also a downside to his game which we have been seeing too. He looses the ball 30yards into their half and he gets Arsenal syndrome, just jogs back at a very slow pace whilst Schalke counter attack! over the years me and my brother have laughed at Arsenal players like Sagna, Song, Koscielny, Arteta and more doing this. Absolutely no desire to get back and sort out the mess you created! Now i don't just blame him for the goal because Ramires gets beat easily and both he and Matic also jog back like there is nothing to worry about and it doesn't help that Ivanovic is miles out of position too but my main gripe was with Cesc.

All in all not a great but also not a shocking night and at least our opponents on Sunday had a tougher and hopefully more morale crushing night over in Munich.

Been a big fan of Loftus-Cheek for a while now, here he is once again showing his quality!

In his last season for us, people forget that he was starting to slow down a lot: the huge performances in the CL kinda glossed over it. There's no denying that Drogba isn't the player he was (nor should anyone expect him to be: he's 36 ffs)

Obviously anyone who writes us off based on this is an idiot though. The performance wasn't good enough for a home game in the CL but I wish people would get some perspective. For us, the standard you expect at the Bridge in the CL is outstanding and tonight we only managed to be pretty good. It's like expecting to make £20m off some big sale and only getting 14. Lots of our "fans" seem to be forgetting that it's still 14 ******* million pounds.

The overconfidence was staggering after we scored the goal. Our pressing and tracking slowed down considerably and was even non-existent at times

And don't get me started on the Schalke goal. So many mistakes by our team. Ivanovic was miles out of position which is becoming a habit this season. Ramires refused to take a foul for the team. Cahill backed up as usual giving Huntelaar all the time and space in the world. Matic was literally jogging back as Schalke launched their attack

Seriously we won't be able to win anything this season if we play with so much arrogance

So their was a hypothetical discussion going on at WAGHN about the next Chelsea manager after Jose leaves/is sacked. Some interesting names were thrown around but personally for me, it has to be Diego Simeone. El Cholo would be absolutely perfect for us to build on whatever Mourinho leaves behind

Again just a hypothetical discussion. Names like Unai Emery and Moyes (!) also cropped up haha
