would love to see mata in the blue,
hopefully we get rid of that waste of space called anelka.

Mata move 2 Chelsea closer. It's a matter of hours. Clubs agreed fee, personal terms agreed too. He's very much looking 4ward to it

28m euros for Mata... yesterday I met Villas Boas, expected all sorted by Sunday and since then player and coach have spoken

Was told today by a top source at Spurs that Modric will go too. If that is the case, if that happens... wow!!

Mata to Chelsea looks almost a certainty now, very little window availiable if any club wants to hijack the deal and there are not 2 many clubs who can at this moment in time, he is a very exciting player, bags of talent and he was immense for Valencia last season and if he comes to Chelsea, he will be playing among better players so it will be exciting to see how far he can raise his game , obviously a chance that he will require some time to adapt to the EPL but his attitude and mentality is very good, Hopefully it wont take him long

He is an excellent crosser of the ball, very good when asked to cut in and offers a lot of versatility as he can play on the Left and Right as well as a second striker and through the centre, is quick but not one-dimensional as he does have a few tricks ;) Just what we need in my opinion, a tricky quick winger who actually poses a threat to FBs, well more than Kalou and Anelka anyways... and someone who excites when he has the ball at his feet

Hopefully we sort this out and he can make his debut vs Norwich so he is not under too much pressure at his first taste of English Football


By Far I feel this has been a very sensible transfer window by Chelsea, we have brought in 3 top teenage players, hopefully we can make it 4 by sealing the transfer of De Bruyne... have not rushed into transfers or overpaid yet!


And we have not forgotten that the thing that brought us down was a lack of depth, hence our interest in the likes of Mata, Modric, Moutinho to shore up our midfield

Now hopefully Roman and Co. do not ruin this by splashing 40m on Modric on deadline day :@

Seeing Mata in Chelsea blue excites me :wub::wub::wub:
And even though i don't mind Modric but 40m on him is absurd lol, but i wouldn't mind sending someone like Anelka the other way...
 
Guardian and other sources reporting that fee for Mata is £23.5M.. Excellent deal if true.

with 3-4 million more in add-ons and stuff.... by far the best 'value for money' deal we have achieved in the last 7 years if we complete it, Mata is very young and has many more years ahead of him and he still has not shown us what he can do, much happier having him for this price than Neymar for 40m tbh,

Btw if the price is true then Emelaono probably did not negotiate it lol

By the way, I do not feel Mata will have a tough time settling into life in England, he completed school so he speaks reasonable english which will only get better, he has people like Torres and Oriol Romeu who do speak Spanish to help him settle in and I think a couple of the staff are spanish too

Yeah, 2 Spanish physios and there might be some other Spanish staff I'm unaware of. I think he speaks pretty good English, but I'm not sure because he's posted in English before on Facebook and Twitter, but that could have been his Dad or someone like that. He has family that live in Britain too.
 
Yesterday I think Jamie asked me if im being sarcastic over this, but actually i am never joking about this kind of deals.
1st - the deal is absolute bargain knowing how good he is and how good he can become.
2nd - im extremely surprised to see us the only one team in this race for his signature, having already seen likes of Arsenal Liverpool and Tottenham previously interested in him. But where is Shity? PSG? even Anzhi? Yes, hes stated that he wants to play in PL, thats fine, so where are Shity with their crazy offers? they would have offered 35 without a problem, and steal the deal from us as well.

im not being sarcastic i just cant believe this. Maybe Mata is a smart man after all to decide to play for us unlike Aguero who still thinks Man City are the better choice as they will give him the title, besides bags of money.
oh right, there was Abramovich who didnt even make a single bid for Kun!!!!!!!!!!

So yea, if the deal was done, i still wouldnt believe it, cuz for less than €30mil thats a ****** bargain, the best deal weve ever done in our history. no doubt.

I assure you he speaks reasonable english as I met him before and I could easily have a proper conversation with him... very excited about the deal, by far a very good one we have struck with Valencia, hopefully Sky spots him in the stands at the Bridge today before his move watching his future team lol

So why are you blaming Aguero then?

City obviously have other targets, PSG have Menez, Pastore and Nene in the positions Mata could play, they are also interested in Ganso and Hazard, although they're extremely unlikely to join this summer. Anzhi have Dzudzsak, Boussoufa and Zhirkov. Inter were interested in him, but they need to sell to buy. And then like you say he wants a move to BPL if he moves away from La Liga.

Yeah, I thought he did, the family member I was talking about learnt several languages when she was still in Spain, so you'd think it'd rub off on him. You met him? I was in Valencia last month wish I saw him :(

yea I met him in Barcelona... Valencia were playing there and there was an event organised for fans, autograph session etc. so I met him and I could not converse with the likes of Soldado who knew little no no English but was suprised when I saw he had a good grasp of the language, loads of people say this deal should be completed by Sunday so hopefully he will be watching the match at the Bridge today, that would more or less confirm he is our man

Would be an exciting season for Valencia even without Mata... their youngster Juan Bernat looks like a young star in the making while Pablo Piatti is simply magnificent on his day, how in the world Valencia managed to snap Piatti is beyond me, totally fell under the radar

Yeah, Valencia did well getting a Mata replacement early on, but even if Mata stayed then both could have still played.

Just checked, and the family member is Paula Mata who is his sister, she lives in Brighton.

Valencia got more than a Mata replacement tbh, they got two very exciting players and their is not a shred of doubt in my mind that in a few years both Piatti and Bernat will be the subject of immense transfer speculation from top clubs, both are very very talented and I am speaking as someone who follows Valencia quite a lot

And its reassuring that his sister lives in England, no wonder there have been very few reports discussing whether he will be able to settle in England

Providing he does sign, if he makes half the impact Robben made when he burst onto the scene then I'd be delighted. But even if Mata does sign, I still think we are short in terms of creativity.
