Just a little bit about my views on the possible cadidates to be our next manager in order of bookies favourite (the bookies i am using is Betfred, other betting outlets are available).
Marco Van Basten: Sensational footballer but not really proven at any managerial level. Does have his plus's though and they are that he will most proberly play 4-3-3 and has many contacts in the game which will help in the market (if he gets any say in transfers). Im on the fence about this one but would be persuaded if Hiddink came in to assist him while he gets the expirience.
Andre Villas-Boas: Although he hasent been a manager long and i believe he is only 34 he has proven himself in the 2 years of management he has had. Plays a great brand of football and has a Mourinho swagger about him. Has also been part of Chelsea's set up before under Mourinho so would know the club well and speaks great English. Would be a gamble but a gamble i would be content with, saying that i would want to give him time and we all know Jose dosent do time.
Guus Hiddink: Not much needs to be said about this man as everyone at Chelsea know all about him. Whether its as manager/directer/assisting a manager i think all Chelsea fans want to see Guus back at Chelsea in some capacity
Harry Redknapp: Most people know my reservations about Harry and they way every club he has managed seems to end up in the **** financialy. Although it would be kind of nice to have a British manager as we havent had one since Hoddle in 1995 i dont think this is the right route. Although it would be harder for Harry to financialy ruin Chelsea its obivous he likes full control of transfers and he wont get that at Chelsea. Next England manager yes but not for Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho: Many may be suprised but i dont want to see Jose back at the Bridge. If he comes back and fails (at Chelsea that means finishing 2nd apparently) and everything goes **** up then he will be rememberd for his 2nd spell at the club and thats not fair. Jose Mourinho has gone down as Chelsea best manager in the 106year history of the club so lets keep it that way and possibly effect it.
Pep Guardiola: For me it wont happen, he has just signed a year extension with Barca and although i know he wants to work in London one day i dont think he is ready to leave Barca yet. Although if he does if he can being Messi with him i will be pretty happy.
Frank Rijkaard: Had a great spell at Barca but has found it hard to hold down a job since. I question his ability to manage big ego's and Chelsea are full of them. Not for me.
Rafa Benitez: Proberly the best choice if Roman really wants to turn the Chelsea fans against him (roll on the blue and white campain). Has one plus and that is he might be able to get Torres back to his best but that is all. No thanks.
David Moyes: Proven in the PL but not proven at a club that has abit of cash. I wouldnt mind it if he was guarrenteed time but again he wont be.
Didier Deschamps: Former Chelsea player but i cant see it as a feesable option as of yet.
Gianfranco Zola: One day i would love him to have a crack at managing Chelsea but for me he isent ready yet. Needs to either come in as a coach/assistant or go back to managing at a lower level and work his way up.
There are more candidates obviously but i dont see many of them as possabilities.
1. Another plus for AVB is that he has won a Premiere European Competition, Europa League perhaps but I am sure Roman has known AVB since beforehand and if Roman has really made up with Mourinho as many people claim, surely Mourinho will reccommend his protege for the job at Stamford Bridge, a Treble this season with Porto including an unbeaten season will be more plus' for AVB, I am sure Roman will heavily consider him
2. Again like you I would not want Marco Van Basten, the man is just not proven at a managerial level yet, btw Jacko having a external party like Hiddink helping him out while he is managing is not going to work, there should only be 1 manager and the fella should know what he is doing
3. I would love to see Hiddink at Chelsea in any capacity, whether it is an advisor type of role or Director of Football, I dont think he will be the new manager
4. I do not want Harry and I am sure Roman will not pay any attention to him, although he has done well in the CL, this has lead to Spurs finishing outside the top 4 in the League and his dealings in the transfer market are not what I'd call brilliant
5. I'd love to see Mourinho back, say what you like Jacko but if the Special One comes back, I'd assure you he will have a greater spell than his first one
6. I do not want Guardolia, he has won many trophies but with a super team, he has hardly had any real challenge to face such as a cranky owner or lack of funds or out of form players
7. Frank Rijkaard is not for me, has not done much in the past few years and I have my doubts on whether he has the mustard to cut it at the Premiereship
8. I would sooner die rather than see Rafa Benitez manage Chelsea, although he will definetly be considered a strong contender due to the fact that he knows how to get the best out of Torres and is a CL winner, I hope some guy still puts some sense into Roman's brain and makes sure he does not make the situation about a 100X times worse and sign Benitez
9. David Moyes is a great manager but again, no success at all in Premiere European Competitions and Everton have been becoming worse and worse in the league which is no fault of his own, still unproven at big clubs and would rather see someone else
10. Didier Deschamps has won Ligue 1 and theoritacally is a strong contender but I have anagging voice in my mind that he wont be considered to a great extent
11. Quite inexperienced, would love to see him in any coaching capacity at the Bridge tho
This is my prediction come July:
Andre-Villas-Boas (Manager)
Zola (Assistant Manager)
Hiddink (Chief Scout and Director of Football)
would be great if this happens
