Its a shame he will most likely be joining the scum but I still wish him all the best. Alex has been a great servant to Chelsea football club in his 5 years at the club and has amazed Chelsea fans on a number of occations with his fantastic rocket freekicks.

Only a fee has been agreed though, I am sure Alex will want to wait and see if the interest from Juventus and other Brazilian Clubs is genuine before agreeing to join QPR which will be a massive step-down for him in all department including wages which I am sure he wont prefer considering he is nearing the end of his career in the top-flight

Yeah I would prefer him to go abroad and still play for a top side who can compete for trophies. I dont want him to stay in the premier league in the first place and if he does join QPR that will just make it worse :P

I thought our friend Carlo would bid for him actually, Sakho + Alex = wow.

Sakho is another hugely massively talented CB.. I'd choose him over Cahill any day.

I don't understand why we're selling Alex and buying Cahill. Am I mistaken, are they not the same type of defender: strong in the air and in the challenge? I appreciate that Cahill has a good record in catching players offside this season but I think Alex is at least as good a player, if not better. I hope he gets to go to a big club, he deserves so much more than freaking QPR.

Alex wants to leave and handed in a transfer request after his below-par performances this season and his reluctance to be a bench-warmer, Cahill on the other hand is also home-grown which provides a massive advantage

Dailyfail? huh?

Just because Daily Fail have reported on that, it does not mean that they are the ones who originally conducted the interview. I've seen that interview with Hazard's agent a few places and I think it originally came from French media.

Do we have a source for this bit? If he wanted to go then fair enough, but if the trouble was playing time is Cahill really going to go to us on the basis that he will be warming the bench. How many homegrown players do we have in the squad, we need 8 from England, 4 from Chelsea right?

Chelsea revealed Alex and Anelka both handed in requests weeks ago.

Oh I know that but the issue is whether or not he wanted to move because he fancied something new (very unlikely imo, don't know if anyone else remembers the interview in CFC magazine about a year and a half ago where he said he was happy to stay with us until he retires because he'd found a home here) or if he wanted to move because he wasn't getting any play time.

If it's the latter, surely Cahill isn't going to come to us happy to warm the bench in the majority of games. If there's an intention to rotate him, Terry and Luiz, then Alex not getting games should have been a non-issue.

Alex's performances have also been generally poor this season as well and although I dont have a source, he did hand in a trasfer request, make of that what you will and I doubt Cahill will be first-team, especially after AVB said David Luiz can be one of the best Centre-Backs in the world one day when defendinh Luiz against Hansens criticism

Strangely enough, he did not defend Bosingwa when Hansen criticized him lol

Gary Cahill at Stamford Bridge. Contract signed and medical passed. Will watch his new team in action today. - via @garbosj Ian McGarry

Pretty sure there isn't a source that says Alex wanted to move on for any other reason than playtime.

I didn't say he posted the source. I said he replied to your post.

And google is your friend. You can find so many sources, AVB himself said that both Alex and Anelka handed TR.
