Thought Meirless had a poor game, misplaced a couple of passes straight to the opposition and put us under pressure

Bosingwa is such a liabilty defending and attacking its not even funny anymore, he has his moments but shows inconsistency throughout the game

Romeu was sublime as usual, the lad is probably one of the best DMs in the League atm which is a huge step-up for someone playing reserve football last season

Not much else to say, Luiz lost concentration a couple of times but was otherwise solid, Torres worked hard and should have won 2 penalties and Mata was his usual self, creating holes in the opposition defence with his passing and movement

I thought Essien was fantastic when he came on, won tackles for us and moved the ball around... really breathed some fresh air into the midfield and is exactly what we need if we are to stop conceding these silly goals

Him and Romeu with Ramires in the midfield three sounds well-balanced and a good option if AVB decides to drop Lampard

I was so immensely happy when he came in.. Standing ovation for him in front of the TV for like a minute or so :) I missed him so **** much.

Yes Meireles had one of his poorest games for us so far, but I still feel he's been a good signing.

Romeu definitely wasn't 'sublime' imo. Thought he was quite poor, but I don't expect him to play well every game - he's only young and you can't expect too much from him while he is still relatively inexperienced. And playing in Liga Adelante is quite different from reserve football.

I don't see Romeu, Essien and Ramires working that well, well, it sounds good, but there's no real creativity there, whereas with Meireles he can get on the ball and try and pass the ball around, getting the tempo going; he's no Xavi, Modric, Moutinho, etc. but he can do a job for the moment. Not saying Romeu, Ess and Rami wouldn't work in any games, but if we played with that 3 all the time we'd be even more predictable imo.

I did not see Romeu making a single mistake and he did his job well, I dont understand how you thought his performance was poor... Meirless is a good signing, he is just having a poor run of form atm, probably needs a couple of games to find his rhythm and passing back

Still think we need a RB more urgently than a attacker this window, Bosingwa offers nothing on the attacking side as well.. think AVB should go with Iva who is more solid defensively and a decent attacker, even with Iva we still need a new RB

Felt Ramires was decent today as well, nothing special from him except a couple of great penetrating runs and lay-offs which should have been finished off, his passes to Torres at the end could have been much better, still feel he is more suited in the Centre of the Midfield than as a attacker due to his lack of technical ability

Even though Lampard scores loads of goals for us, he really affects the balance of our midfield triangle by starting, he occupies a slot which really should be reserved for a creative CM.. not his fault imo but he should start to be happy with playing a rotational role next season

20 odd minutes is not much to go by but I feel Essien will work well in AVB's system, he was laying the ball off qucikly today to maintain the tempo and he really helped us out tremendously defensively, feel his inclusion in the starting 11 will really help us concede less goals

Why is Phil Thompson getting stick? He was spot on about the chances. Yeah Chelsea had more shots but the quality of chances was even, unless I'm watching a different game. Sunderland opened the defence up more than once but didn't finish. Sessegnon tortured Cole.

Did MOTD not show Essien's return, or did I miss it? :S

They didn't show it :'(

Agreed on Meireles. Romeu was quite poor imo; he made 3/4 mistakes, but tbh I couldn't describe them well enough for you to know what I'm talking about, though I could make a video showing the mistakes, but I think it's a bit of a waste of time over a slight difference in opinion :)

For RB I hope the interest in Azpilicueta is true because I think he'd be perfect. Him and Ivanovic rotating depending on the opponent would work well. But this season I'd like to see Hutch get 5 or 10 minutes here and there and then hopefully he can get fully fit (needs to build up his muscle a bit and start training full time) for the new season and then maybe a loan would do him good; possibly just 6 months and then see if he's ready to come back and do a job, or maybe a bit longer.

Agree on the other points.

That isnt just the reason why. Against Wolves he was saying ridiculous things bout Torres all because he left Liverpool and even celebrated when Wolves scored and has been very biased against Chelsea.

And Cole was a very lucky boy when he bundled over Sessegnon. Cole couldn't even see the ball when he committed the foul.

Torres had two penalties. the second was stonewall, and I cannot believe dowd booked him for diving, very poor decision

Yup, Sunderland have 5-6 really really good chances

Why would we trade Nando for Modric, when the idea of bringing in Modric was to support Torres? Bad journalism!

Man, Im so happy Josh will play for Brendan/Swansea.. He will grow as a player there no doubt!!! I'd send him for 2 seasons there If I were AVB :)

He'll be genius at Swansea, their game will fit him to a tee. Good business all round, but he should have gone there in the summer imo.

4 points above Arsenal now I believe. :D

The last thing Tottenham need is an overrated striker who couldn't hit a barn door.
