You miss the point. Cahill himself hasnt performed, at all. Zat knight has been the better of two. The fact that he is in the england squad doesnt cover the fact that since february he has been terrible for bolton. If he keeps playing at this level for chelsea, then you have just thrown away money, and goals. He deserves all the flak he gets because he hasnt performed

Neither deserve any credit, in fact no Bolton player deserves credit. He is a good footballer and is now playing for a better team with much better teammates so he will improve.

Not trolling, I'm sure you said same about Torres saying he will do lot better playing with better players and with physical players.

maybe now with the new partners in defence and Oriol/Essien supporting him, he will perform better. Remember football is a teamwork. put nemanja Vidic or John Terry alongside ROBINSON, WHATER or whatever, and watch them perform :)

As well as Torres is dependent on the service he gets (passes) from playmakers/midfielders, the exact same thing applies to CBs and in this case Cahill. He doesnt perform well because.. well, I think you can figure that one out yourself :)

I said he would get stronger playing with more physical players and he has, not once has he been injured and he looks more hench too.

No you said Torres would be back to his best playing alongside targetman like Drogba as he will get better protection and all.

Anyways on Cahill, if AVB wants to play highline again he is not the player for it. I'm sure he will do better at Chelsea than at Bolton as he gets much more protection but I'm not convinced that he is top quality CB.

But he hasnt been let down by his partner, since his partner kinght has been substansially better than him. You keep making excuses, and yet ignore the fatc that he himself has been making basic errors, that have nothing to with the fact his team mates are playing poorly. Not marking your man, not getting in the right positions, not making your interceptions, not making your tackles, all individual things. Think you can figure the difference out for yourself

Did you actually just compare Vidic to Gary Cahill? Sigh.

Vidic played alongside Evans when the latter was playing badly, and was still outstanding, because he did his individual stuff well. Forget the teammate stuff, Cahill has not got the individual stuff right at all, which was what some chelsea fans keep ignoring and making excuses for

I would of rather Chelsea went for Samba especially now he wants out of Blackburn but meh Cahill will be decent I spose.

Both players haven't played together so who knows it may have worked. He has definatly got stronger physicly without a doubt. The high line can work if the back 4 have a good understanding with each other and all push up at the same time. The main culprit of this at the moment is Bosingwa, his defensive awareness is non exsistant. With Cahill 3 of our back 4 will be international team mates who can form a defensive unit pretty quickly.

nobody denies that fact. he's been making mistakes, yes. but I think that comes from the other fact that he wanted to leave back in the summer, and he didn't.

Now how do you expect him to give 101% every game when he doesn't (obviously) wanna play for the team anymore, which is a bit rude towards Owen Coyle, because Bolton made him who he is right now, but thats another matter.

I think the poor performing from the start was caused by his desire to leave the club, but he didnt.

Not sure why you all ignore that fact either :)

Dont know about Terry but I'm sure Vidic can make difference. He played alongside Evans when Evans was in poor form but still we were defensively solid. When Smalling was still just a raw talent, Vidic played well and even made Smalling to play well. He is that good.

Vidic is also playing at a club where he wants to play and playing with team mates who he can also rely on.

Well they didn't play together as they couldn't play in the second half of last season.

well, yes. He is one of the best CBs :)

Didnt ignore it, but it doesnt excuse not carrying out the very basics of defending

We're not even talking about giving 100% (having said that you'd expect it from a professional, just look at modric)

But he hasnt just been average, he has been woeful. Whatever is in his head about a move doesnt excuse how bad he has been

So not leaving a club means that you can't do your job properly for 5 months? Because he wanted to leave Bolton when he steps out onto the pitch he forgets how to defend properly? Thats a pathetic excuse, Modric didn't leave and he's been outstanding.

I'm sure Cahill was still collecting big wage packet when he wanted to leave. So not wanting to stay shouldn't be an excuse. Just look at how Modric is doing this season.

People deal with things in different ways Mike.
