PVA has potential but its of no use if he cannot fulfill it, Kakuta has done fairy well at Djion but I doubt he will be playing a big part next season.

Also if AVB does get the sack, who will you all like to see at the helm?

Mourinho? Benitez? Capello?

My personal favourite would be Unai Emery, has done wonders with Valencia on a tight budget whilst getting the best out of the likes of Soldado and I think he will be world-class if he is given money to spend in the transfer market. A very tactically astute manager who commands the respect of his players

PvA can definitely fulfil his potential, and what's the difference between PvA and Bertrand? They're both equally developed, but I think PvA has more potential and is younger.

Kakuta did say that AVB has a project for him when he is back at CFC, but he might have just said that to be nice, who knows?! But currently he has 3 goals in 3 appearances, and at least 1 assist, though I think it could be 2.

Unai Emery is a good shout, I quite like him, and he's been learning English. He did say to Guillem Balague that in a few months he hopes to be able to do interviews in English. He also said that he'd welcome a job in the PL, and that is why he is learning English.

I also like Rudi Garcia at Lille. He likes good football, and IF we get Eden Hazard he would know how to get the best out of him, and they get on very well.

I'd say possibly Mourinho, but since he's been at Real I've grown quite a strong hate (not 'hate' as such because this is a man I used to adore, and I don't know him personally, but he's gone down in my estimations) for him, but I'm sure if he did rejoin us that he would return to his 'normal' self because I personally feel that being at Real Madrid has changed him a lot as a person, and definitely not for the better. But, I do like attractive football, and I think if Mourinho was to rejoin us he would not bring us attractive football.

Benitez and Capello are good managers, but they aren't managers who I'd like at Chelsea.

But I think AVB will be here at the end of the season, which is what I'd prefer. IF he was to be sacked then I think Emery and Garcia would top my list.

There are some other good options though. Another who's been learning English and is a good coach is Pochettino at Espanyol; he's been rumoured as the next manager of Real, and I'm sure he would be considered.

Am I the only one who thinks that Torres is being the scapegoat here? There's another 10 players on the pitch

They were all bad, but Torres was arguably the worst of the lot.

On paper Torres is as close to complete striker as you can get, he shouldn't be THAT much dependent on team style.

But surely a player like Torres needs the service to do what he does? I've seen him putting in some quality passing and some nice passing. If nobody else provides him with the service to do that....surely he'll be isolated?

It does not help having another player who wants to be in Torres' position playing RW tbh.

I don't know tbh. I actually feel for Torres. He's been thrust into the limelight with a massive transfer price, has the whole footballing world watching him as a result, all the pressure, and it backfires. I genuinally feel sorry for him. It's like every player that leaves Liverpool flops. And it's not their fault.

Mascherano and Xabi Alonso are successful.

i wouldnt rate mascherano's stint at barca as being successful on an individual front, sure he has won a ucl and la liga with the team but individually he has moved positions to center-back to get a start because its obviously not that easy to break into the worlds best midfield, weak mascherano..

If we were to sack AVB then I'd prefer a proven manager, someone like Hiddink would have been ideal but that's not possible now.. Capello's name would definitely make the rounds but I'd prefer Unai Emery, really feel that he has a great career ahead of him and and its really food for thought on what he can do if someone gives him money to spend

Although I am with you in hoping AVB lasts the season, the first thing Roman must do is to eradicate player power at Chelsea even if he does sack AVB because then every manager after him will face the same problem. Players like Terry, Lampard, Malouda, Ashley Cole and Cech must be told to shut up and respect the manager.

I think the main problem is that the players are consulted on managerial appointments, once that happens then players automatically feel that they have greater power than the manager.

He was feeding off scraps up front. Got 15 touches of the ball. That is terrible service. If Danny Welbeck got 15 touches, SAF would have been ripping into the midfield.

Exactly, he got virtually no service, and gets the blame for that as well. Should have come to United.

I have never seen any player getting so many excuses as Torres. Yes he needs service, its not he was scoring for fun when Chelsea created chances. He played poorly that's it. How many times the same excuse will work?

Hang on, what has that got to with yesterdays game? Not a lot, since he got **** all service.

It has something to do with yesterday's game as I said,

He was off at the half time break says it all. When strikers dont set service, they will drop deep and try to make something happen. When they dont do and gets isolated then its strikers fault as much as midfielders. With Drogba on Chelsea looked lot better than in the first half.

Torres isnt a drop off deep forward, seriously, to ask him to do that is to completely not understand his game. He wasnt staying central at any rate, but drifting left and right into space, to find that service, and still got little service. So not really the same excuse.

Drogba got a bit of ball because chelsea started playing direct balls into feet of a physically powerful player. It was a slightly more refined version of hoof it to a big man. If you cannot see the difference between the Torres and Drogba as players, and why the latter approach worked then this dicussion goes nowhere

I have seen Torres dropping deep and creating havoc against ManUtd in 2010-11 season at OT. He has done it few times. To say he can't do that is completely underrating his skill on the ball.

I brought Drogba discussion as Drogba is not only taget man type of player, when things dont work he drops deep and creates. He was awesome at doing that.

If Players had this attitude that "I'm not a drop deep forward" and I wont even when things are not going well that only confirms how poor he is. (Saying that he is capable of dropping deep which I have seen him doing).

He didnt drop deep against us, he merely drifted in to the channel and let Gerrard through.

Exactly, Drogba is a completely different type of forward, thats why it worked. Which was exactly my point. Direct balls into a physical player who drops deep. Which suits Drogba, and not Torres.

And its nothing to with attitude. Torres has been told to lead the line, if you actually look back earlier in the season, he did try dropping deep, and it left them with no presence forward, and he was told to stay up front. Its not his game to drop deep, its not what you ask him to do. The once place Torres hasn't been lacking is work rate and approach.
