Neymar is one of the rising stars in international football today. The 19-year old phenom from Brazil is currently being pursued by several professional clubs. Here's a look at five teams that could land Neymar this summer.

Chelsea FC

On June 16, 2011, Chelsea told Brazilian football club Santos that their asking price of ¢'¬41 million was too high. They felt that this buyout clause was too expensive. But after losing the Barclays Premier League title to Manchester United, Chelsea know that they must get younger. Chelsea need the youthful and talented Neymar. They hope that Neymar could provide a boost to the team, like Javier Hernandez did with Manchester United last season. Chelsea need Neymar and Neymar has expressed interest in playing for them. This appears to be the most likely destination for him. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea buckle and increase their bid for Neymar.

Real Madrid
Madrid also feel that the asking price for Neymar is high. They do not need Neymar as much as Chelsea do. Madrid have two talented young forwards of their own in Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. Also, Neymar has expressed interest in playing for Chelsea. Nonetheless, rumors are indicating a strong link between Neymar and Madrid.

Santos FC
Another possibility is that Neymar stays put. He could stay another year with his current club Santos and reevaluate his options next year. If Santos win the Copa Libertadores title, then he may decide to stay with the club and compete in the FIFA Club World Cup. Staying one more year is an easy move for Neymar to make.

maybe his attitude is because he is the big fish in the small pond called Santos... maybe if he comes to Chelsea and starts to play under stars such as Torres, Drogba, stars who can actually guide him he may change his attitude, i wish someone like SAF was our manager, would be able to bring Neymar down to earth in no time

I wouldn't exactly call Santos a small pond.

Luka Modric exclusive: I want to join Chelsea | Mail Online

Luka Modric dropped a bombshell on Tottenham when he told Sportsmail he wants to leave White Hart Lane and sign for Chelsea.

The midfielder took the stunning decision to declare his reasons for wanting to join Chelsea, who are preparing a second offer for the Croat in the next 48 hours.

It is an action that will enrage his employers and Spurs supporters, but Modric says he wants to move to a club with ambitions of winning the Barclays Premier League title and is going public to force the issue.

Last night the 25-year-old spoke to Sportsmail from his holiday boat and said: ‘I want to leave Tottenham as friends. I have enjoyed my time there, but now it is right for me to look at another club.

'I have an arrangement with the chairman. When I signed my new contract, he said that, if another club came to sign me, they would consider the offer.’

A second Chelsea offer is due - and this time the price will rise from their opening £22million bid to closer to £30m.

And Modric said: ‘Chelsea are a big club with an ambitious owner. They have great players and they have ambitions to fight for the title and win the Champions League.

‘I want to stay in London. I am very happy here and so are my family. I like the city.’

The news will explain why Manchester City and Manchester United have been monitoring and talking, rather than formally bidding. They have clearly got wind of Modric’s desire to stay in London in the last 24 hours, which puts Chelsea in pole position.

‘I don’t want to have an argument with Tottenham,’ said Modric. ‘The supporters have been very good to me and I have enjoyed my time playing for the club, but it is for football that players leave clubs and move. It has happened to Tottenham before. It is normal for a player to dream about playing for a bigger club.’

Modric will speak to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy about arranging the transfer but insists the desire to leave is not about money.

‘If somebody comes to the club and the offer is good for me and acceptable to them, then I want to leave,’ he said. ‘It has to be good for my ambition. It has to be a club who are winning titles and playing in the Champions League.

‘This is not about money, it is about ambition. When I came to England, I was dreaming about winning titles. That is still the same.

‘Tottenham are a big club, with good players and a good manager, but I want to fight for the championship. Spurs will always have a place in my heart. My experiences in the Champions League have left me with the desire for more.’

When asked what happens next, Modric said: ‘I need to talk with the chairman. I won’t ask for a transfer, no. That would be disrespectful. I hope they can reach an agreement (with another club) that is satisfactory for everyone. I am on holiday, but I need to speak and to see if I can find a solution to this.’

Spurs fans will expect Levy to offer Modric a new contract and keep his word. The chairman has said that he will not allow the player to go, while manager Harry Redknapp described the original Chelsea offer as ‘ridiculous’.

Has quotes from the player, but quotes have been twisted in the past. I honestly don't think it's true but meh, opinions?

Although its from the Daily Fail there are real quotes, will be intresting if this is real.

Love how no one really believes it. Guardian is also running it, but then its quotes also come from the mail. Apparently he also gave the interview in the telegraph too

some are never happy. if someone is rumored to a team they want quotes. when quotes are given they're unreliable. i guess some people want the player themselves and tell them their current situation!

Well the Guardian normally are pretty decent.

yeah, but their quotes are straight from the mail, who are less so

Oh yer but my point is the Guardian wouldnt post somthing especialy from a rival site if there wasent some truth in it.

sometimes papers just run with the story. still there may be some truth, especially since there are quotes. Guess we will find out in due course

I think realistically its between us and United for Modric now.... no other clubs seems to be in the picture
