I can understand why people don't want rafa, I'm not he's biggest fan but I don't think its a bad replacement. I'm a big fan of RDM always will be, but if rafa can get the best out of Torres it will be worth it. If anyone can get him playing its him, and if he can't then its proved that he's past it and we need to sell him and get falcao.

Rafa did well at Liverpool to say it wasn't the best of squads. He's record is quite good and I do wish him the best.

But if he ruins my club I will be the first to slate him to high ****!

Oh well good luck Rafa. I would never want him at Chelsea long-term but he has the necessary qualities such as tactual knowledge etc. to come in and turn around the clubs fortunes before leaving at the end of the season

What on earth was Rafa thinking?

Chelsea fans already dislike him, he has been appointed until the end of the season.... which means they only want him for so long and they might have him for longer IF he does well up till then and IF Guardiola turns Chelsea down.

I bet it went like...

Roman: Hi Rafa we would like to appoint you until the end of the season until Guardiola can consider my offer.

I still cannot believe he accepted to be a stop gap. His first press-conference will be interesting.

The thing is this is Rafa's best chance to rebuid his reputation. Managing Chelsea means he will always be in the limelight. Of he does well until the end of the season and leaves, a big club might actually take a chance on him because the Inter debacle left his reputation in tatters.

So accepting the Chelsea job is really the fastest way for Rafa to rebuild his rep if he does well. And destroy it too if he fails.

To be fair, he has 6 months, its not even a full season. Due to these circumstances, it's not the smartest move to take over at Chelsea if he wants his reputation back.

I like how here its an orginised discussion about the pros and con of rafa whilst on twitter etc its utter chaos with no resnible points from either side

CJACKO is now viewing the thread, so hold your horses on that count...

I think he's good.

I think CJACKO's impending mental breakdown is better though.

I will survive lol, been through worse with this club.

Wouldn't be a bad move in my humble opinion, too much is relied on John Terry at Chelsea. Taking the captaincy away from him would be a signal of intent and may be for the better of the whole club.

If he did I would give it to the monster Ivanovic.

He is relied upon because he is still ******* excellent! When he is in our side we look much more compact 100%. Yes i agree it's scary we still rely on him and it needs to be sorted sooner rather than later but at the moment he is still what we need.

I posted something about the whole Benitez thing on facebook groups so i will just copy and paste. What i will say is the knifes are really out for rafa already. I went to play 5 aside tonight and in the time i went there played and come home we appointed him and i was already invited into a group on facebook called "Rafa Out".

Ok now i went to football tonight with my club managerless and come back knowing something had happened before i even logged online. I need to have my say on this because it's on my chest at the moment so here goes. I loved Di Matteo for what he did and believed he needed/earned more time. It seems to me that Roman looks on forums and groups like this and sees what we would dislike and does exactly that. Its a power thing for him it's quite as simple as that. Roman spent 50 million pound on Fernando Torres and his club and he personally are slated by it every single day and he is not used to being a loser or failure so he is trying everything possible to make this work.

A few things i look at is that yes Robbie won us the Champions League but you could counter that by saying without Roman we wouldn't have even been in the supporting Chelsea FC let alone be in the Champions League.

Now i understand the hatred towards Benitez and the reasons why but boycotting the Bridge shouldn't be an option. The club and the team are two completely different things so go to the Bridge and support the team, hate the club as much as your hearts content i do also. As much as we dislike Benitez lets just concentrate on the players and sing their names and Di Matteo's name loud and proud. Lets not forget Benitez did not sack Di Matteo so lets not take that out on him, he believes he can do good for this team and whether we think other wise lets show a little respect towards him other wise the more you push Roman the more he will rebel and win it's as simple as that.

I for one am looking forward to tuning in on Sunday and truly believe we can beat Man City, unfortunately i know for a fact their will not only be empty seats on sunday but there will be boos directed to Roman, the board and Benitez but i don't think it will help.

I will finish by saying thank you Robbie Di Matteo for making yourself a legend in your playing days with us and immortal in your short premature managerial stint with us. I have no doubts you will be back in employment somewhere very soon and go on to have a sensational managerial career.

Sorry for the long rant, if you don't want to read it just criticise me lol.

Roberto Di Matteo:

"I am extremely proud of the successes and trophies that we were able to bring to the club in recent months.

"Lifting Chelsea's first Champions League trophy in Munich was the best achievement in the club's history and without doubt the highlight of my career."

"I have a deep and unreserved passion for Chelsea Football Club and I would like to sincerely thank all of my staff, my players and of course the Chelsea fans for their tremendous support in the intense time I have been manager at the Bridge."

Thank you for everything Roberto it was fantastic having you as manager and it should not have ended so soon. Already up there with Mourinho joint as my favorite ever Chelsea manager despite only being in charge for less then a year. Good luck where ever you may manage next and I am proud to say you have left the club as a european champion and an even bigger legend then what you was when you arrived.

One thing Rafa will do is get you organised and you shouldn't concede cheap goals with him at the helm, having said that you still might if David Luiz plays. Although Benitez is pretty clever so I doubt he will be starting many games as he has been pants lately, he needs to watch from the bench and improve his game in training before getting another match.

Twitter? Are you kidding me? It's (almost) the whole fan base.

I don't know, i would think (almost) whole fan base would recognize the fact that press conferences, especially in Prem, are pretty much staged fiction.

If Chelsea want Pep, the worst thing they can do is make things hostile for Rafa. Chelsea need to finish in the CL places to attract him. By making Stamford Bridge a hostile place for the manager and in turn players, they are only shooting themselves in the foot. Which will be funny for me mind.

I'd try him as holding mid, they could use some muscle in the center with front 4 being so flimsy, and at least his carelessness shouldn't be so costly. All Rafa has to do is press this button here and make him train "play short simple passes"...i'll go and take my pills.

Just seen Phil (very very big nose) Thompson's comments on SSN and he said there is no way Rafa will take this job only thinking its for 6 months.

One man who may be happy that Robbie's gone with be Marin, couldn't get a look in.
