Because they are his "yes men". He isn't going to have people who dis-agrees with him at the club is he? Ray Wilkins done that and look what happened to him!

I see... fair enough Jacko. I don't want to give the man too much stick as yes he HAS done a lot for Chelsea, but at the same time I think he's often misguided in his decisions. The Rafa appointment imo is a blunder but that's just me :)

Enough reason to hate and swear at the man on his first day on the job?

I mean you defend Terry, an alleged racist, sleeper of teammates wives etc, you hail him. Then someone who's made a few bad words to your team, you tell to f*ck off?

I mean.. R U serious?! Rafa is a fat scouser, Terry is a club legend?

And if Terry comes out and slates our fans personally then he will get the same treatment but he didn't. Besides the point that Terry is our most successful captain and with one blip aside is blue through and through. There is no comparison.

Your not the only one lol.

Still, I hope Rafa does well. Also, in terms of understanding Chelsea fans hatred for him well... he practically called them a small club, "plastic". The reaction to him was practically nailled on.

I'm not saying their reasons might not be justified. But in the long run it only serves to damage the club. Onwards and upwards.

I understand what you're saying Mike, but I just think it's a reactive response to Abramavic and to a lesser extent Rafa's appointment as manager. The fans will get behind and support Rafa eventually, it's just a case of calming down and getting on with it.

I completely understand what Rafa has said in the past, and I am sure he regrets saying it, especially after today!

But the top and bottom is, he is now your manager, that much is out of your control. Regardless of who your manager is, you get behind and support him and the team, doing otherwise is completely counter-productive. I fail to understand if any true Chelsea supporter cannot realise that.

The funny thing is, as things stand right at this moment, nobody knows how successful he may be. For all I/you/anyone knows, he could end up being your most successful manager ever and he could equally crash and burn. However, as the current manager of the football club, he has to be given the support to make a success of the time he has at the club, however long that may be. Shouting, hounding, booing, applauding the past will not make a blind bit of difference.

As it turns out, I noticed a different Chelsea today, certainly at the back. There was a resoluteness and steel that has been missing and not conceding against City is not a backward step given how easy it was becoming to score against Chelsea in recent weeks.

What I meant is that Chelsea does not have the squad to play attractive football and be successful (in the way that Barca are), as Abramovich seems to demand.

Under AVB i guess they didn't , but then he could look at the squad before taking over and stop trying to force them into ultraofensive mode from the first day. But now? The mid trio is a joy to watch on its own , just need to build around it.

The only player in current squad i have problem with is Ramires who really doesn't offer much besides tireless running.

And sure, they cant copy Barca. But you don't need Tiki-Taka to play attractive football. Just look at Dortmund. Not even one world-class mid, still blast to watch.

Also, Real is 8 points behind Athletico now, so looks like you'll have an option to hire King Jose back in the summer.

If Jose ever comes back to the club I think I would break down in tears from being so happy XD If he does ever come back though I will be very worried it will just be the same old story falling out with Roman over transfers etc

Look i actually like you but this is just jumping on the latest bandwagon of slating Chelsea which i would accept but not towards the fans! Do you own the applauding of certain minutes as a football club? Was anyone saying, well Villa do it for their ill captain so we must do it for our sacked manager as its the same thing? Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill!!!!!

Even if I was jumping on any bandwagon, it's hardly a new one now is it. I wasn't slating Chelsea fans for any of the actions that everyone else was, even though frankly I reckon it's deserved criticism. Chelsea fans shouldn't be immune to criticism; I criticised Villa fans who gave McLeish short thrift even if I saw why they were doing it, so I'm hardly being biased.

Do we own it? No. Did we come up with it? Pretty much, in this case. It's not the action that necessarily annoyed me, it's the fact that Chelsea fans crassly devalued something that was special to us, and to something that's incredibly trivial by comparison to a well-loved footballer and family man fighting for his life. So don't talk to me about making a mountain out of a molehill before you understand how important this is to Villa fans. One of our family (and AVFC is a family; perhaps is not the same of Chelsea?) is very sick, and you're devaluing our symbolic support to him by just deciding to replicate it in support of something that's incredibly unimportant by comparison.

Well since Modric is so far transfer flop of the season i guess even Mourinho shouldnt have complete freedom over transfers ;)

Hopefully I am not the only supporter backing Benitez... I actually like him and I don't know why lol

Standing up and applauding on 16 minutes after getting the idea from Villa fans.

Your manager was sacked. Our captain has ******* cancer. This isn't mean to be ******* trendy. Knobheads.

It clearly is the action that has annoyed you seeing as you go on about how you came up with it in the previous sentence. If the Chelsea fans sung Di Matteo's name and applauded before the match and not a particular minute I doubt you'd care. It's a tad harsh calling the Chelsea fans 'knobheads' when most were probably unaware of Villa's campaign. You make it sound like they did it intentionally to hurt Villa and their fans, when they were just showing their respect for RDM, and probably making the atmosphere even more awkward for Rafa.

I agree that it isn't an important issue, but there is no set rule of what can and can't be applauded. If it's so unimportant then you shouldn't let it devalue the support you show Petrov week in week out. There are plenty of other clubs who unite and show their respect in similar fashion. Portland Timbers sing 'You are my sunshine' and applaud every match during the 78th minute, in respect of the club mascot's daughter, who died in a car accident.

Anyone else thinks reverting back to a 4-3-3 would be better for Chelsea? Ramires could recreate his midfield runner role from where he was so good under AVB. Oscar's defensive ablities are less likely to get exposed playing in a midfield 3 rather than a double pivot allowing him to move there and distribute the ball.

Not sure how its all going to work out but the way I see it, the thing we badly lack is a midfield distributer. Manchester City were easily stifling our defence to attack transitions by closing down Mata/Oscar who came deep to get the ball but as soon as they turned around to distribute, they lost it.
