Apparently Fernando Torres has never lost a Tournament Final in his career, can someone confirm this?
ahahahaha
Honestly speaking though, while I understand that its very easy to blame Torres solely for every loss and its unfair too...I honestly think we can win games such as this if we have a clinical striker such as Falcao would have taken either one of those 3 chances that Torres ****** up.
Very unlucky goal to concede though.
I like Studge and feel both players have suffered the same treatments in their careers. Both made their names as strikers but when moved to a big club and down in the pecking order were chucked out wide because they had pace/skill. I like them both but if it was to happen then i would welcome Theo 100%.
Corinthians are going to be bang up for it as it is there centenary this year and also the year Socrates died so they have a lot of reason to want it. Luckily we have a manager who really wants to win trophies and the way the players celebrated the goals the other day showed this means something to them which was nice. 1-0 either way i reckon.
Torres, back to his usual **** self.
ahahahaha
Great insight, good to have you in the thread...
We lost because we had no control over the game. Why did we have no control? Because they pressed us mercilessly from the first minute to the last. This is when having Torres upfront, Ramires and Lampard in the pivot, Brana at right back etc just doesn't work. Those are players that can just about manage a short passing game, but if you put pressure on them they crumble. It's no use having a row of 3 creators (who didn't have that great a game in possession either...) but if you can't link them to the others, it's pointless.
The backline also got pulled out of shape way too much. They mercilessly exploited our channels for pretty much every chance they got.
Truth. Now we all know about Torres. But people seem to overlook the rest of the issues in the side.
4-2-3-1: Shape is the the single most important aspect. You must have the box (CMs and CBs), and ideally the triangle (CMs and AMC). Chelsea seriously lacked this under Di matteo (And thus got opened up by pretty much every single decent team they met.)
Rafa talked about balance when he came and he must stick with it, regardless of whether the Chelsea boo boys think its boring.
Also whoever made the decision to loan out Essien needs a slap.
