Numbers being retired in the PL is unheard of. Plus, why not do what other clubs have done, and award it as a 'prize'. You know, as a shirt of great significance, a la the number 9 for Newcastle.

I like this idea much better. Same like the No. 7 for United.

It being unheard of would make it seem bigger I guess. The latter is a better idea come to think of it, I'd miss the number 8 (if you can miss a number).

Why retire it?? Lampard isn't Chelsea born and bred. The only time a number should be retired is for one-club players, who achieved great success wearing it...such as Maldini etc.

Don't count your chicken yet! Torres is Rafa and Roman's love child and i still can't see him being dropped, unfortunely i can see Ba on the bench or out wide. So hope i am wrong.

**** that, out wide is a waste.

I really, really, want him to start the game tomorrow.

De Bruyne is massively over-rated IMO, so I wouldn't pin your hopes on him.

I would say that's a bit harsh. I watch most of his games and usually he's one of the better performers. Gives the ball away far too much though.

So lads, who do you reckon will take the Chelsea hotseat in the summer? There are the usual suspects in Pep and Jose, but I think Klopp might be a great option. Whats you opinnion on this?

Wouldn't be surprised if Rafa stayed, don't see Pep, Jose or Klopp coming.

I for one don't mind Rafa. Bar the losses to QPR and West Ham he has steadied the ship. There is no doubt that he can coach so lets see what happens.

Some players look better in a team that is average, and in all fairness, Werder Bremen are nothing more than mid-table quality ATM. Plus, your last statement is somewhat contradictory, and actually is one of the points that make me believe he is not going to be the player many expect him to be. His ball retention is incredibly poor, and his inability to pass when he should will be the big problem, as it is terribly hard to change a player with that trait.

How is he over-rated when i have never heard much about him? He has fantastic potential for sure and is very versatile.

Same here! Will make me so happy to see him start and there is no reason why he couldn't start.

Unfortunately the man currently in charge.

You make it sound like people have said he's going to be a world beater. If that's the case then yes I agree he's been overrated. He's been one of the better young performers in the Bundesliga so far, and despite his flaws you can't argue that he has a lot of potential.

Would be interesting to see what would happen to him if Guardiola came in next season.
