Defour signing for Porto leaves the door wide open for a Moutinho exit, looking very likely that AVB will move for him.

Da Costa is hardly his usual resilient self when talking about him, very coy in fact, and I really think he is AVB's primary target for the midfield. Suspect after meeting Gourlay to discuss transfers/Modric/Squad assessment face to face this week he told him not to continue the pursuit of Modric. He's no fool and knows that Spurs over value him and we would be over paying, still think all the indications are that Moutinho will be a CFC player come September 1st.

Griezmann's looking likely to join Athleti Madrid so we can chalk him off our winger wishlist gents...

jaime, since anderlecht signed jovanovic, where does this leave the on going pursuit of lukaku?

I wouldnt rule out a United move for Moutinho either, should the Sneidjer move fall through

I hope not.

I wouldn't mind Aimar coming over to play for us...But now I am dreaming.

Blah.

Essentially here is the status:

Anderlecht finally accepted a method of payment proposal in principle by Chelsea with a clause that allows Anderlecht to loan one CFC youth player for a season, Anderlecht's choice, so that would seem to be agreed.

That was late last week, now it comes down to Lukaku/Prica.

''Why Prica?''

Anderlecht see him as the actual replacement for Lukaku, from Rosenborg, Jova will be his partner...Deal always hinged on Prica rather than Jova. All Anderlecht will want is notice from Prica that he would be interested in joining RSC Anderlecht and they will happily accept the Chelsea proposal whenever it is officially lodged. They want an outcome by mid August on Lukaku-CFC.

Lukaku wise, personal terms will not be an issue whatsoever. The main issue stopping this deal is Romelu, he wants first team opportunity assurances from Chelsea and with Anelka AND Drogba there it's hard to see him accepting any assurances now. He's no fool, a very smart guy, he knows his chances will be limited and has already made it clear a loan move to France from Chelsea is not what he wants. So the ball at the minute is in Chelsea's court, they either sell Drogba OR Anelka or it looks like Romelu will be in Belgium for another year.

Currently I can't see either of them leaving unless AVB see's sense and lets Anelka leave.

But the basic facts are unless Drogba or Anelka leave then Romelu will stay put for another year in Belgium.

you have a problem then because Anelka has no intention of leaving. he'd rather see his contract out

^ Nail>Head>Hit.

Really annoying scenario.

Only other option would be AVB being firm and saying to Romelu ''you will be my choice over Anelka''.

But that reason you said is precisely why I think Romelu will stay in Belgium for another year.

Don't worry about Roma/MCFC De Bruyne interest either, CFC have first option on him and are still trying to tie up a deal then loan him back to his club. So that deal is still on.

Speculation CFC are also moving for El Ghanassy out of Belgium, nothing concrete yet but it's just a murmour amongst the daily papers.

I see Romeu had a dodgey knee (torn meniscus, shouldn't be too bad in future), perfect Essien replacement :P. I was just researching him and watching a couple of clips, very composed and looks like a bright future.

Just signed him for Bolton on FM and he is immense!!!

I'm waiting for the Kadlec rumour to resurface that will complete the set.

Courtois/Lukaku/De Bruyne/Romeu all the players linked...Nice to see the club re injecting some top young talent into the squad.

With Kalas/McEachran/Lalkovic waiting in the wings as well the times are looking good for Chelsea's youngsters.

I may have figured a solution to the buy back clause thing, shall we all just forget about it and pretend we just got a 5m euros bargain?

Essentially Da Costa sold him to an investment fund manager back in 2010, buying that share back is a good sign...

''Why?''

To me it shows that he wants a clear path to sell to CFC but more importantly, he bought the shares back cheap...Tells me he knows something about oh I don't know an impending transfer. That valuation going off that 25% stake is around 16m euros. He would expect to get twice that and more from CFC with his release clause.

Typical Da Costa.

Heard a good lil stat on ChelseaTV a min ago that we have the best opening day record among the whole 92 league clubs winning 9 out of our last 9 (last 9years obviously) .

records dont last forever though ;)

If the player wants to stay at Chelsea he will, if he is weak and gives into Barca then he can go simple as that.

How do you know he wont be worth that much in 2 years time?? Gareth Bale wasent worth 10million 2 years ago and now look at him!!! Things change very quickly in football and prices go up rapidly at times and in certain circumstances.

Im not bothered with this whole buy back clause at all, If Barca try to get him back then he will first of all want to go to them and then they will have to pay the fee and if a player isent 100% commited to this club then good riddence.

Insted of everyone looking at the negatives of this deal im looking forward to seeing the lad play for his club (which is Chelsea not Barcelona). Hoping he can get a few first team appearences this season maybe in the cups or late on in games etc.

I think you are yes, the only thing he would do is keep Michael Essien company in the treament room.

Indeed, but you can bet your bottom dollar that if he's good enough at the end of the year, Barca players will start the Cesc saga v2 - perhaps then you'll finally realise how annoying it is to be told every other week your player is on the verge of a move away. You act as if Romeu will (for no given reason) be different to Cesc, and won't be attracted by the prospect of a move back to the current (and probably for the short-term future) best team in the world.

Can't wait for Xavi to be distracted by something else for once. Although he'll have his hands full - what with Jeffren, Bojan, Cesc (quite possible he'll stay again now), Romeu, Bellerin, Toral all leaving the club.
