My Dad is a football commentator. My Brother likes football quite a lot, I wouldn't call him 'football mad' though.

no offence lol but I was just guessing cos Cahill is no way better than our current defenders

I was not being bitter or anything mate... I was just explaining to BlueHeart about the role Mikel plays in the team and I have to say, he was solid in this game... infact all 3 CMs looked solid today without any of them standing out

Ah, ok fair enough.

The amount of times he regained possession with an astounding... 0 tackles and 0 interceptions...

did you even watch the game... everyone could see he regained possesiong for us quite a few times and was one of the players who actually made an effort in closing the opposition down

Torres is a number 9...

He needs support to score, from midfield/the wings.

He's getting nothing from the midfield, anything he creates he's doing by himself.

The reason he gets crowded out so much is because the two idiots to the side of him are not staying wide but running inside creating the pitch so narrow there is just no space to work with. He's always played best with a false number 9 midfielder alongside him and clearly Lampard is not up to that role at all.

Even Modric wont help solve that problem, a new advanced midfielder is needed to help with that aspect.

In many ways Torres=Messi, but Messi without Iniesta.

Can't see Torres playing at his best until that issue is fixed.

Wing supply is one thing with players who play wide but a false 9 is the next link that needs to be made to get the best from Torres.

At the minute there really isn't much Torres can do.

May I ask how he's supposed to regain possession "quite a few times" without any interceptions or tackles?

at least he is trying ... a wide midfielder and a new midfielder would go a long way in solving his woes definitely.. our problem is that we lack ideas in the final third not helped by our lack of width, at least Bosingwa was good on the attack today and Malouda was solid but Kalou he just does not deserve a spot on our first-team, he is just not good enough

I suggest you watch the game again, particularly the first half

I take no offence whatsoever lol. Yeah I know, my Dad's got a thing for Cahill, last year in January he said "whoever buys Cahill will win the league". He knows a lot about The Football League, and decent Prem knowledge, but some of the stuff he comes out with baffles me. He has little knowledge of foreign football too. So let's say he wouldn't be much use as a european football commentator.

Sigh. No proof so you tell me to watch the game again. I did watch it and I wasn't impressed at all. And he didnt regain possession several times, he just didn't.

well thats your opinion about his performance so its cool... I was suitably impressed anyways

Benayoun: Well I hope to give you all some news till wednesday regarding my future..thanks again for all the support!

Was at the game today and in all honestly it was a pretty awful performance. It's clear for all to see that we lack any sort of creativity and width, it doesn't matter about AVB's arrival, if we have the same players our style of play won't change and Torres won't get anywhere near to his best.

The defense was far too open today, we should of been 2-0 down in the first half but Long over hit his pass/cross. I've noticed that AVB used a high defensive line when he was at Porto and seems to have tried to do the same with us. Thing is, at Porto they could afford to let in a few goals because their attack was so good and with a player like Hulk who can create something out of nothing, they were always sorted. With us, our attack isn't really firing on all cylinders, plus the fact that Terry & Alex aren't the fastest defenders in the world, we are always going to have problems if we play so high up the pitch (Especially against pacy players like Long who made good runs today).

Anyway, I know its only the first game but if we play like that against a team like United, I can see us conceding far far more. Disappointing performance, glad we got the win though.

He knows nothing about signing Mata?! WTF? my dreams are broken now.

President Llorente has informed Emery that Juan Mata will be sold to Chelsea FC.

Also in Spain news agencies are reporting that he will be given the number 10 shirt.

Seems plausible, especially given Benayoun's announcement coming up.

Tuttosport are saying Chelsea are going in for Storari as their backup GK...It made me chuckle when I read that.

I can't tell, again, if your being sarcastic?

What else do you expect?

Did you expect 'it is very close' or something?

Managers/Clubs never do that.

well. again u are not right(totally)

When was asked on Thursday about Lukaku he said: he is very close, just some payperwork remains to be done.

I dont see the problem of telling the truth here? If he actually knows something.
whats the problem, really?

Just got back from the game and after my last trip to the Bridge (3-0 defeat to Sunderland) at half time i was starting to think i was beccoming a bad omen. Now to the game itself, after watching it live in the flesh we need ******* width and pace. I dont blame AVB because this is not his side, we might aswell have Carlo in charge still because its the same players. I personly think most of our players are set in their ways and only know a certain way to play and its not the way AVB wants to play so we need changes in the squad. JT got an absolute pounding by Long who is quickly looking a sensational signing by West Brom and Alex was very poor too, but on a possative not Bosingwa was sensational again and 2 games in is looking back to his first season best. Midfield was way too slow and i didnt even know Ramires was playing until late on when he actually started to run at players which is what he should do from the off. What im about to say may shock people but im seriously thinking the Lampard we are seeing now isent even a quarter of the Lampard of 2 years+ ago. Why Kalou started again is just beyond me and well done to AVB for bringing him off early and that just stamps his authority on this side even if he needed too. If the Mata deal goes ahead then we should go with Sturridge, Mata and Torres upfront and that will give us a newness and freshness around the squad which is needed. Main thing is we got 3points and i saw us back to winning ways in the flesh so UTC but masses of improvement needed.

:'( If Chelsea get Mata it will be one **** of a title battle between the 2 manc clubs and Chelsea

Still think the Manchester teams have stronger squads than ours. I can't see past the 3rd place at the moment.
