Apparently Anelka is set to start on Sunday which proberly means no Sturridge in the line up :(

Well the Guardian seems to think we'll play Mata-Anelka-Sturridge. Personally I'd like to see the same front 3 as on Tuesday.

I HOPE STURRIDGE starts along with MATA and TORRES. we need creativity upfront, and Daniel can offer that, unlike Anelka.

I'd have to disagree with that. Sturridge is a very selfish player and would often look to score on his own than pass. What he does offer though is that injection of pace and th ability to beat a man which we currently lack. As he's got older, Anelka has become far more creative but it's clear for all to see that his style doesn't suit the way AVB wants to play.

I'd have to fully agree with that.

Villas-Boas claims the standard of youth and reserve team football in England is not good enough.

“I would not say the reserve league is up to the level it should be,” he said “B-sides playing League football could be a good option for Chelsea and Manchester United.

“I know it goes against the culture and the historic principles of British football, but I think these B teams should be able to play up to Championship level.”

Villas-Boas added that he expected Nicolas Anelka to leave the club next summer when his contract expires.

He may have a point. Except in a couple matches when teams such as Chelsea, United, Arsenal, maybe even City, face each other, the bigger clubs have a field day. Liverpool could be added to that mix, and if we didn't have to play them in the first team I assume we'd have a good youngster XI. But it's only a few clubs.

There was one thread long back. Even I said the same. EPL should copy La Liga model in having B teams and playing in lower divisions.

I disagree about having field day. League is stronger than ever. Midtables have closed the cap considerably.

The thing is, it would be unfair to many lower league clubs (I'm sure a few 'B' teams would tear the lower leagues till they reach the champ), and it'd also disrupt the loan market - why bother sending a player out on loan when you can have him playing in your B team. I agree that the current system is kind of ****, and I wouldn't oppose B teams in the league, but I'm not sure it's the best way to go, either.

Yeah but they have to fight with B teams. I think that will improve overall quality of young players as they will be playing competitive games from young age.

It would certainly be positive for the youngsters, not sure if it'd be so good for the league.

Yeah but these teams wont be playing from championship level. They should start from bottom tier to work their way up. Not completely last tier, but FA and clubs can come to some sort of conclusion.

Of course they wouldn't start in the champ, but it won't take them long to get there, IMO.

Double balls.

We matched United and I think we outplayed them for long spells of the game.

Proud to be blue.

Proud to be blue too. Outplayed them TOTALLY. Feel sorry for Torres though, he could be todays hero, but luck in football is a double-edged sword..

You guys can have one too.
