shouldnt be playing 4-3-3 either tbh

Agreed.

Torres is not going to score and play well by sitting on the bench each and every ******* game AVB. What has AVB seen in Drogba the last few games apart from him goal midweek?

It could be 4-2-3-1 with Meireles in the hole... But that's very unlikely.

Torres' confidence must be lower than Blatter's credibility, little topical phrase I thought I'd stick in to ease the pain of Drogba starting, saying that maybe if he's lucky enough to play more than 3 minutes in this game he might make an actual impact from the bench.

Yet again PvA isn't even in the squad for Wigan - God knows how seeming all of Wigan's defence have been awful, and PvA played quite well at the start of the year. And Kakuta is on Bolton bench - for a change - and again I don't really understand that; they're in the relegation zone and Kakuta would help them a lot if they would give him a chance from the start. Can't wait until January when kakuta is back and we can either send him on loan to somewhere he'll get played, or use him as back-up. I hope we recall PvA in January unless Martinez starts playing him, and tbh I thought Martinez would be the perfect manager for him...how wrong could I be?

Probably, yeah, but it was a bad buy from the very beginning. A vanity buy.

It really wasnt. The issue is actually a) consistently playing him b) consistently playing to his strengths. Very rarely if at all has chelsea done both. If torres was playing for united he would be getting bagfuls from rooney in close support

We need to give Torres some time today - at least 30 minutes. This is a game where he could get 1 or 2 goals.

A little story about Ramires
He came. He struggled, and struggled.. Then he became one of the best midfielders in the game.

Now imagine mata getting on the ball every time from the centre of the pitch.

IMO he's just as good on the wing or centre, but he needs other creative players in there, and 4-2-3-1, so he can rotate between the left and centre, or right, but that depends who is on the right.

3-0.

Mata!

-**** it Chris. =[

Ha ;)

It really wasnt.

Please. 50m for an off-form striker in Jan, forcing the manager to alter his plans for pretty much the rest of the season? It wasn't Carlo's call, I'm pretty sure of that.

And yet, still not a bad buy. Rather a buy needed for the future. Drogba isnt playing well. They didnt just buy him for the first six months.... rather the next 5 years. short sighted much?

I'd genuinely rather win 2-0 with Torres than 4-0 with a stumbling Drogba.

Mata's finally bedding in, if AVB actually goes with a 4-2-3-1 I have no doubt he will do even better with Torres than he would with Drogba.

Saying all of this, praising the display so far, Wolves have lost something like 6 games in a row and although they did beat United last season they are a fairly average team all things considered.

But then so were Genk and Chelsea only managed a 1-1 draw, progress to a degree but like I said as long as Drogba is on that team sheet the progress long term will always be hindered.

If this ploy with Torres is in some way Andre taking the pressure off of him by leaving him out of the spotlight for a few games, well I don't think it does that at all. I think it puts even more pressure on him, you can tell by his warm up that he's not 100% focused and motivated coming off the bench.

This is genuinely the first period in Torres' career really where he is being questioned so severely and in such an unrelenting way, he's always been the undisputed CF at a club. If Torres' career shows us one thing it's that if you give him game time and self belief that he is your number one choice he will come good for you. Treating him like this is a huge risk and in my opinion completely unnecessary but it's a gamble AVB is taking to try and provoke a reaction from Torres and get him motivated to retake that no.9 spot I suppose.

Care to tell me how that's turned out?
