Okay, first off, im not starting an argument, just a discussion.

So, ive been thinking for a while about AVB, and what hes capable of.. and on the other hand i remember that the only thing he needs is time, to build his own army, force that in 4-5 years could be really strong, could be.. Does Roman intend to let him have this time? nahhh. he sure wont.

i aint gonna be a ****** fortune-teller or something, but i got a bad feeling about tomorrow's game at SJP, and even at the Bridge against Valencia... so the question for you lads is, do you think if we lose either tomorrow's game or Valencia game, Roman will axe AVB? Ive been talking to my buds fellow blues, i heard different opinions, so what do you think ;]

I doubt it... Hiddink said that Roman had finally understood the need for stability, so for one season we wont be in the knockout stages... big deal as we are hardly going to win it with our spectacular team, give AVB time and he will show what he is capable of

Some really interesting statements from Andre-Villas Boas this press conference before the Newcastle game-

"I will keep my job, I am very confident. I was brought in for a three-year project.
When you set out on a contract you believe in the evolution of a philosophy, of a style of play, of winning the most amount of trophies in that period.
there is an objective to invert the way that Chelsea plays."

I think this points to more suggestions that their is a long-term plan in place at Chelsea and Roman wants it to develop under AVB who has his own unique philosophy which is certainly pleasing to the eye of most football fans, AVB has mostly laughed off suggestions his job is in danger which means we can hope that Roman has understood the need for stability. If AVB is given the full 3 years at the helm, I have no doubt we will be European Champions by 2016

"At Porto, what we'd do is try to involve the player in the No6 position in the buildup.
You've seen Oriol [Romeu] and Mikel [John Obi] more involved and Raul [Meireles] has also played.

"The midfield rotation was the most important [at Porto] because our No6 sometimes lost position to become a more attacking midfielder and this was surprising [to opponents].

We tried to introduce it here but decided it didn't work.
It's a balance in the Premier League and the fact that transitions can hurt more than in Portugal, where teams have the tendency to play from the back.
Transitions here are more direct.
It makes it important for the No6 to stay in position."

Interesting, maybe AVB is still tweaking the tactic so as to speak so it can better fit the PLM... in any case most of us forget that despite this man's evident footballing knowledge it is still his first full season in England and only his third as a manager at all, I for one wont blame him because it looks like he was brought in by Roman to play attractive football and he now knows that he needs more capable players to implement his system, now its upto him to build a team capable of doing so

"Bearing in mind that we were a team that suffered five goals [Arsenal] and that United suffered six against Manchester City we have 17 goals suffered [in total].
Manchester City haven't suffered a beating but still they're on 12 so we are speaking about a difference of five.
Is a difference of five goals so aggressive in terms of the philosophy?
Does that mean the philosophy is all wrong?"

That for me is a great quote right there, it shows how the media with their lack of proper tactical knowledge have jumped to criticising his philosophy and that includes most of us as well, quite evidently the problem is something else and we should put faith in AVB to resolve them

I like AVB interview when he talks about tactics than post match conferences.

When he talks about tactics and philosophy, it is just class. I love it.

aye his tactial knowledge is immense but then again you don't become a caoch for Sir Bobby Robson at the age of 16 by being a nobody so not suprising tbh

Nervously looking forward to tomorrows game. Right now I would take a point but I know we can win the game.

Obviously its not at all surprising when you consider he opted coaching at very young age and worked on it for years. Worked under Sir Bobby, Jose thats more than enough to learn.

Drogba is starting today and Torres is on the bench :/ Heard AVB confirmed this a couple of days ago.

agree he worked under Bobby when he was 16 and was called Mourinho's 'eyes and ears' ... how many people in the footballing business can claim that much

dont really mind, Drogba has been doing well so he deserves it atm

..and Torres hasnt? Anyway, in this particular game I also think that we should play Didi as Newcastle are more of a physical team and Drog's strength can help a lot in front :)
