The side won the double in his first season so he was right not to change anything. And like i said at the beginning of the 2nd season he got rid of alot of "older" players but kept the ones who performed sensationaly well in the double winning season which just makes sence. He should have been allowed to see out his final year, he showed he would get rid of the underperforming at the end of the first season selling Deco, Ballack, Carvalho, Belletti and Cole. So whoes to say he wouldn't have got rid of the last seasons underperforming players i.e Anelka, Kalou, Drogba, Malouda and Bosingwa. Carlo was sacked for one reason and one reason only, Roman wants to be entertained and the system we was playing was very effective and it got results but it was not entertaining for Roman to watch.

Completely agreed. Carlo is miles better than AVB and it is not even up for debate. Carlo is a legend and one of the best managers of modern era.

When you listen to the interview, its clear he is referring to a select few. This has become apparent on the pitch. He trusts the likes of Mata far more than the old guard. Roman has a decision to make, and I'd pick AVB

I've listened more intently/studied it more intently and......Dam you Mike.-was sharpening the knives there :P

Btw wasn't an overall attack on AVB-he obviously has been entrusted with a task, and thankfully Roman has given him the time to do it. He'll come good once he's restructured everything that needs doing. But it's going to be weird not hearing the names of Lampard etc when they finally are given the chop-like part of the furniture.

My god, that's the 2nd person in 2 days to say they agree with me about something lol.

Missed the point entirely, was never an issue about who is better

I'm sure they wanted him in the summer too but didn't want to pay the buy out clause.

You are right- they approached him before chelsea, and wouldn't pay up. Would be a bad move for AVB- Moratti gets rid of managers twice as fast as Abramovich, I can think of 4 or 5 since Jose.

Just listening to Sir Keith Mills interview on SSN who is Spurs's non-executive director regarding the whole Redknapp to England thing. Laughed when he said "it will be down to him at the end of the day, like if a player dosen't want to stay its the same with a manager we will let them go". Erm Luka Modric mate?????

Speaking of Modric I bet his glad he stayed at Spurs now they are flying and just look how we have been this season :(

excuse my goal.com link but its some hazard news,
dont really believe it tbh i dont think 'arry will spend big, but then again if he leaves anything could happen.

Chelsea pull out of race to sign Eden Hazard as Tottenham move into pole position - Goal.com

Spurs wont pay big, Daniel Levy is conservative and we can easily top any price Spurs have to offer plus I find it hard to believe we will pull out of the race, Hazard will probably be our top target this summer and if we can show him that we will play in a style that suits him as well as offer the right price he will join

Chelsea are in a strange place atm, our squad is stuck between two styles with one half being the likes of Luiz, Ramires, Mata, Romeu, Torres and Essein while the other half is the likes of Lampard, Terry, Ashley Cole

AVB has promised squad changes this summer and he sounded pretty confident he will be at the helm till then, my gut feeling tells me that Roman is backing AVB for next season and will be giving him the freedom to bring in the right players over the summer

A good place to start would be to get in Hazard and Willian. I dont mind selling Sturridge this summer as well, good player but has a inflated ego and after scoring a mere 9 goals this season, wants a pay rise to a 100k p/w as if he is not already on excellent wages.. he can **** off period if he refuses to adapt to AVB's system and continues to moan about getting a Central Strikers role

I also hope we go for someone like Leighton Baines this summer, someone who I think is better than Ashley Cole and would be much better for us

A Mata, Hazard and Willian behind Torres would be a excellent attacking 4, all of them are intelligent enough to switch positions with each other and all of them will provide us with that much needed creative spark whilst unleashing Torres

Good, its about time Chelsea had a hard **** manager who isent scared to drop players. I would expect us to step up in the signing in Modric or from what i here Moutinho i.e a playmaker and change the way we play all together. If we try and play more towards the Barca way which is what he likes it will suit the likes of Sturridge, Torres, Ramires and Essien etc. The future looks bright.

You posted this way back in June, and AVB has been true to his word

Sturridge wants 100k? sell him.

he is already on 80k p/w and thats about the same as a certain Juan Mata who is a World and European Champion and has in all regards performed better than him over the season.. not to mention he does not moan half as much as Sturridge does

If anything Mata deserves the raise

His ego is far bigger than his talent

Jacob Steinberg gets it bang on:

Didier Drogba says it will be a disaster if Chelsea don't finish in the top four. Here's an idea then: stop undermining the manager. For a group of players that have won one league title since 2006, a couple of trophies and nothing in Europe, they are remarkably egotistical. Andre Villas-Boas is far from perfect, but shouldn't he be given time to mould the squad he wants?

What are Villas-Boas aims? What does he want to do with Chelsea? Does he wan't to change the philosophy of the team and the style they play?

Guus Hiddink has been appointed manager of Anzhi on an 18 month deal.. Won't be Chelsea's saviour this season if AVB does get sacked.

Oh God, I have to agree with Jacob Steinberg :(

But its the way he has done it, its okay dropping the players etc but do it by respecting them. A very good source said a few weeks ago he dosen't even acknowledge the players when he walks past them. He is a very young man and to get the respect of these big ego's you have to do it in a right way and he has not done that.

He is on 60k a week not 80k. Agree he dosen't deserve a pay rise yet though.
