AVB is learning at the same time, so he will be making mistakes as we've seen. Normally it would probably not be such a big problem, but Chelsea are at a point where there is no room for mistakes, on anyone's part and its costing them.
What? That was not a technical decision whatsoever. They played reserve/youth games because they were not allowed to play for the first team until they were 18. Brazilian players (And from many other countries) can't move on international transfers until the age of 18 (Something easily checked in FM), and while they were allowed to 'move' to Manchester they were not allowed to play competitive games until they were 18.
That said, what is 'catch 22'? That one left me pretty clueless.
Yes, so maybe Chelsea job came too early for AVB. Also have to feel for him, he has the big task of cleaning up the mess and at the same time he should control massive egos. Not at all a easy task.
If you have a problem, whichever solution you take only creates more problems. Paradox.

Actually it was an exploit of a technical decision, As Ferguson said, we used it to build mass on the players. They wouldnt have been ready to play Jan 08
I'm pretty sure they would've played a few games. After all as soon as they were 18 they were playing.
SAF actually said they were not ready. and they played after half a season of intense work.
Piazon is doing this kind of development work, and he doesnt look ready from the little ive seen. Unless he has a spike, I cannot see him being ready to play a meaningful in games this season, playing 5 minutes, after playing 5 reserve games, isnt meaningful.
I do expect Piazon to play some part from october

No they were not allowed to. They were signed in 2007 feb but they trained with Fluminese. They moved to Manchester in Jan 08. Much of the work was done on putting up mass. AFAIK they didn't even play any reserves games. First game they played was in preseason friendly, I was so surprised to see Rafael playing so well in his first ever game for us without even playing for reserves.
Player can play for youth team and reserves as Lucas did. He played his first game for Chelsea youth in November (2 months short of 18).

Rafael is a full Brazil international and settled quicker than his twin Fabio after making his debut against Peterborough in Barry Fry's testimonial back in August, 2008. It was soon evident United had a ready-made first-teamer on their hands, even though he was only 18 at the time.
Finally, it was the end of one long journey from his former Brazilian club Fluminense, and the start of a new one with United.
What made Rafael's debut all the more startling was that he hadn't played for over a year. The Reds had been waiting for international clearance on the pair's transfer from Brazil, so they had been unable to turn out for United during that time and, in fact, didn't play any regular competitive football.
