According to Chelsea writer/journalist Dan Levene of the Fulham Chronicle, it cost Chelsea a combined £28m to buy out Carlo Ancelotti and bring in the now fired Andre Villas-Boas.

Villas-Boas' contract was worth £14m over three years and Chelsea will probably pay him most, if not all, of that money. That means that Chelsea's last two managerial hirings and firings have cost them in the neighborhood of £42m

Pretty sure AVB can't believe his luck. Free of Chelsea, and got a massive payout to relax for a few months before searching for a new post with a more understanding owner.

He was bought in to change this team over and make them more entertaining so yes i do believe he had a full say in transfers. Don't forget when he was bought in he said he didn't want to sell anyone because he wanted to give everyone a chance. If he knew/watched Chelsea last season he would know some of these players needed to be moved on straight away.

He watched every game when he joined Chelsea. I'm sure he wanted to get rid of a couple of the older players, but you have to remember that clubs might not have wanted to pay their big wages, when they are no longer as good as they were, and we all know how settled some of the players have got, so why would they leave, and get paid less when they love being at Chelsea?

But he purely said when he joined "i want to give everyone a fair chance" so he didn't sell anyone when many already knew who had to go.

So what happened to "AVB won't be sacked since he needs to rebuild the team"?

No Guus Hiddink to cover for 2 months this time round. Benitez is placed as favorite to take the reins, opinions?

Benitez knows how to win CL, but we are talking about immediate success here, no 2-3 years time. If he doesnt win anything, he will be shown the door. NO SURPRISE. I dont think we will have a long term manager, unless its Jose.

I'd rather see David Luiz as manager than Abramovic stay at the club. He's absolutely ruined the club. We are a laughing stock and absolutely no one with any modesty would believe they could take the club where Roman wants to be. Get off your glory supporting ******** and drive Roman out of the club.

So Roman ruined the club? Surely. How dare he for making midtable team who were so happy to finish 4th to 6th into title contenders and winning 3 league titles.

Btw, If not for Roman you can't even survive. Who is writing off your loses?

I doubt Pep would even come to Chelsea considering your managerial history. I'd put my money on either Jose or Capello.

Well, none of those are going to work until the end of the season. And you would only get Jose if he wins La Liga and ECL.

hes winning the la liga no doubt. but why *AND* ECL? If he doesnt, he will stay?

Would you rather Abramovich leave, and return to being a top 7/8 team, with a stable manager, or a top 4 side with an unstable manager position?

Not surprising AVB has got the boot given the poor run of results & the apparent problems in the dressing room. He deserved more time but under the circumstances it makes it an almost impossible job if the players don't back you. Hopefully RDM can get the players up for it again and we can really push for 4th place.

I'd like Jose back if given the choice, but who knows what will happen.

Jose Mourinho is the only man who can rescue Chelsea after sacking of manager Andre Villas-Boas - Telegraph

My wishlist would be:
1) Jose
2) Pep (I dont think he will be success, at least not in his 1st year, if hes given the time to build his own little Barca maybe.. but if not, just no point of bringing him)
4) Moyes (not likely)
5) Capello (not sure)
6) Klopp (not sure. maybe gamble. probably gamble.)

Don't see how Klopp would be a risk, but whatever.

Mine is:

1) Pep
2) Klopp, Emery, Garcia (can't choose between them, TBH)
3) Mourinho
4) Löw (obviously a good manager, but how good is unclear because he's done well with Germany, but nothing much with clubs)
5) And outsiders - Frank de Boer, Brendan Rodgers and Michael Laudrup

Others I could see are Marco van Basten, Marcelo Bielsa, Didier Deschamps. I wouldn't be disappointed with any of them, really, but Bielsa's a bit odd, and old.

well, a lot of people called the appointment of AVB a gamble, so if he's a gamble, then Klopp is a gamble too. Both won things, but Portugal and Germany cant compare to the EPL.

I think Pep would be a gamble too, because of the fact the team won him all those trophies.. with a team like that, its not too hard, still credits to him, not taking anything away from his contribution, but look what players theyve got.

Brendan would be a perfect long term manager, but theres no such thing as longterm manager at Chelsea. So..

My #1 on the list will always be Jose. He is our special one. His aura is amazing.
