I'd personly still go with Kalou, Sturridge has been very poor for over a month now and Kalou linked up with Mata quite well today. I'd agree with Lampard instead of Meireles though.

Studge was poor, but I think he performs better when he starts the games. Wouldnt mind Kalou tbh, I wanna see Rami wide more often. He is like lightning for defenders.

I'd agree he does play better when he starts games but he was very poor at the weekend missing 2 very good chances. I called it ages ago when AVB played Ramires wide right in the away game at Wolves. He was our best player that day and AVB decides he wants to play him futher back?? His main attribute is his pace so get him up the pitch.

Two things stood out tonight which AVB should have done. 1. Play Ramires futher forward, he did it a couple of times and he played well so for some reason he pushed him further back?? And 2. That's what happens when you give a younger player (Bertrand) a game, didn't put a foot wrong and it looked very fresh.

Don't think we ever looked like we was going to concede, we looked pretty well set up at the back. You did have a lot of the ball but without really hurting us. Soon as we got Ramires and Kalou running it was only going to go one way.

He works very hard but i believe he will never be a top goalscorer for Chelsea.

Personally I felt Kalou did nothing while he was on the pitch but thats your opinion. We created a few good chances that we could have taken on another night. The Mutch one that bobbled and the Zigic header to name a few.

AVB was poor at tactics and everything to be honest. So no surprise.

The Zigic header was decent, forced a good save from Cech and Mutch was a little unlucky with the bobble. Kalou runs and can actually beat a player which causes someone to come out of position to get too him. Made a lot of space for Mata in the middle. Put it this way, he played a lot better in the 70 odd mins he got than Malouda has all season!!!!

That was the only place he fit in in a 4-2-3-1, as the attacking part of the pivot. His passing isn't good enough for him to play in the hole and playing him on the right would ousted Sturridge. In a 4-3-3 he played the middle role because Lampard is only able to play as an attacker and when partnered by Meireles the pair of them rotated roles in an attempt to give us fluidity and flexibility in midfield.

The irony is, it's AVB who Ramires credited as being the main factor in his goalscoring form because Andre gave him more freedom. He ended up getting pushed back because none of the other midfielders seem to be able to grasp the simple premise of changing their role to suit the situation. That's not AVB's fault, it's once again the fault of players like Lampard (if you recall his remarks where he basically said the most defensive role he will consider playing is box to box) and Mikel (who we've gimped beyond belief). That's why AVB had to give up playing the fluid three in midfield and adopted a fluid 2 whenever he could.

Some interesting quotes that came out of Alex which may shed some more light on why AVB was sacked..

This situation was being about talked for a while, even because of André's behaviour.

Andre is not the kind of person who talks a lot, he's someone who a bit closed.

That's just the way he is.

I saw some comments of Lampard recently and I think he deserved more respect. It is true that a player knows he will sometimes have to stay on the bench, especially after reaching a certain age.

That's not a problem. But with Lampard's history at the club, where he has more than 10 years, he deserves a word or an explanation from the manager.

Fundamentally, it was a question of respect for everything that he represents for Chelsea.

I think this more or less confirms my hunch about how AVB did not communciate his ideas in a suitable manner to the squad.

Alex was at the club till January and according to him it appears as if AVB did not offer Lampard any suitable explanation as to why he was suddenly relegated to being a rotational player.

And that got misintepreted as AVB not having respect for Lampard and his achievements and this created tension which eventually spilled out into the squad as a whole

On a second note, it was a good solid win for us and I do not know why but I feel we shall improve because with AVB's sacking finally the tension in the club has gone

Also it is highly probable that we will now play tactics that have always suited the majority of the squad. Slow play whilst being solid at the back etc.

Don't get me wrong, its just that with AVB at the helm and all the media reports on his relationship with the players, the way he lambasted the press and obviously the string of extremely poor results there was a lot of tension in and around the club but hopefully all that is gone now and we can aim for a strong finish to the season

Again I do not mean this is as slight on AVB's person

I also do not feel RDM is the man to take Chelsea forward after this season and would like to see a new manager and my preferred ones are Mourinho and Emery as I have mentioned. Still I would love to see RDM remain at the club in some capacity. He is a good manager but he is just not ready for the big job yet.

Guillem answers your questions...

Dear Guillem. How likely is it that Jose Mourinho will be the Chelsea manager by the start of next season? Do you think it would be a good idea for him to go back to Stamford Bridge? Or can you see Real Madrid convincing him to stay, especially if he delivers the league and the Champions League? Simon (Chelsea fan)GUILLEM SAYS: He went to London for a couple of reasons. Firstly, to show people that he could be available. He's saying to some friends that he is definitely leaving Real Madrid and coming to the Premier League. I'm saying that doesn't mean he will definitely leave; he likes to make himself available almost every January. His second reason: if he doesn't leave he will push through phase three of his revolution at Real Madrid which includes more control of the academy and of the medical department, amongst other things.
He is even saying that going to Spurs would be a good possibility but I think he would be happier going to Manchester City. Chelsea? Roman Abramovich knows that bringing him back will be admitting a mistake and he would have to give Mourinho the power that he has at the club, so I'm not sure it would be a good idea. They have a fluid conversation going on and Mourinho told Roman that it was a mistake to give AVB the reins. Mourinho was offered the job last summer, so I don't see why Roman wouldn't offer it to him again. But second comings don't always work

I think it is a 'make or break' case here and Roman definitely should give him the power, if he is the one to come. Otherwise, it will be another year of misery for CFC.

meh. Looks like an inteligent guy after all, and tbh, like CJACKO pointed out, he will know how to make Torres a scoring machine again. but apart from that, I dont think he can do anything different than what Carlo did. Im not saying i wouldnt be happy if we got the double again, but he must think about ECL. Thats what the owner wants the most. So do we, fans.

I think only Jose is capable of winning the ECL with us at this moment, and he would have if Roman hadnt sacked him in the first place.
